I've started a new game running the "Shadows of Starlight Scenario" - after 1.0 was released. The scenario is playable until a certain part - there are some bugs and all designs are outdated obviously. Problem is the scenario story was never finished - eventually the player reaches a broken part (like me) ,the scenario is not "officially" supported any more (there is a post from 2017 stating this), but is still present in the game as an official scenario. The story is cool, but if this is no longer official, I suggest it removed from the default installation of Empyrion. Leave it in the Steam workshop. From a new player perspective, playing a default scenario like that would seem the game is far from finished - like it was released incomplete and bugged.
Agree, all scenarios that the devs have put a link to in the game as an optional starter scenario, ought to be up to date. As I understand it, anyone can take an abandoned scenario and improve it. I have done it with an other scenario, where I of course linked and credited the original. Also posted the link to my version. The creator actually responded and all good. Before publishing my version, I had told my intentions in advance, also that would remove it if wished. Even it were a pretty simple scenario, it had some POIs that needed attention, since were a part of optional starts, with some planets modified too. One work demanding task were to replace all spawners manually, since Eleon in their "wisdom" made them invisible (the visible ones got a new item ID, instead of opposite). Also then no easy way to keep or set conditions for spawners. Probably if someone fixed SoS for EGS V1.x and told Eleon about it, they would link to the new one. Older versions should still be on the Workshop, since possible to play older versions of the game. For time being I prefer to play the game, not fiddling with creating content (scenarios/servers). Scenarios with story line and missions is also more demanding to do, since better test and make sure it works, preferable for newer versions of the game too.
Yeah, Eleon actually owns it, per the terms. It would be best to get a nod from the creator, but ultimately, it's Eleon that would have approval
