    Hey all,

From a balance and gameplay perspective, should the Player Drone trigger sensors?

Currently, the answer to this is "sometimes", in that it might trigger a door or sensor, but for sensor-triggered spawners it never does.

One of the strengths of the Player Drone is its ability to scout ahead of the player, particularly inside a POI, so the player can plan ahead. Great in general, but as the Player Drone generally doesn't trigger sensors that cause Sentries to be deployed or invisible spawners to activate, it becomes far less useful.

From a gameplay perspective, wouldn't it be good if the Player Drone did act like the player, triggering anything the player would trigger - the exception being ground-base traps (trap doors) as the Drone flies of course.

Now, this could be a double-edged sword (even without the DLC lol) when you think about it. A sensor placed to trigger a spawn at a certain time, could be triggered by the Drone, so, when the player arrives, the spawned critter is out of place. This might mean the player, in person, foils a cheesy "I'm behind you!" type ambush, or makes it worse. For example, I might be about to drop down into a room, when I drop down a Critter spawns some distance away, and runs towards me. I have ample time to fire, if I'm paying attention. If it was the Drone that triggered the critter spawn though, that critter might now be camped, right where I have to drop down.

Personally, I'd prefer that the Player Drone did trigger sensors, as if the player were there. That way my scouting would actually reveal what was ahead of me. Also, this would help take the cheesy out of "behind you!" spawns, which irk me. Be they deliberate (strong blue cheese) or just due to the spawn-delay issue (regular cheese) many POIs suffer from.

I want my scouting to mean something! Currently, I scout ahead with the Drone, and it reveals nothing an empty room. I then go there in person and critter spawn, sentries deploy etc. My scouting was pointless.

    What do people think?
