Soooo I had my short lived first PVP battles on HWS the other night. We had been farming for weeks and I was over it. So I spawned in the Iron Maiden my famed fighting cap ship of the old days(fixed up for 1.7). Me and my mate head out to water world because someone said come fight. Really I didn't want to fight but rather scout and just look at what I would have to deal with. As soon as we warped , I scanned nothing in sight, I slowed down to let my mate get into his sv he had docked on the Maiden, suddenly three lil fat sv's were buzzing around me , I spun around in reverse, flying backwards as these three annoying sv's were attacking me, slowly bringing my shield down, off in the distance I see a refrigerator flying at me armed to the teeth. I am thinking ok I can't warp(because some effing invisible thing is keeping my warp drive from working). SO I decide to try and bounce off the planet(you can't bring a cv down but in the old days it would bounce you out like 5 k) but as I am flying backwards one of the sv's gets behind me and starts ramming into me stopping me completely in my tracks as the effing refrigerator comes in and hollows out the Iron Maiden. I get out of the cockpit and to my dismay in a blink of an eye the Iron Maiden is a hollow tin can. I die, spawn at a trader station, where they had one of their members inside killed me again. Now I am not complaining of this clan ABN tactics, in fact I applaud them as brilliant and well executed. What I am complaining is that this lil sv stopped me. Sure let it slow me down a tad bit but not over power my extra large thrusters to be able to bring me to a complete stop. Also would it had mattered if my cv was ten times as big, I don't think so. Now in the old days to counter larger forces we could drop battle space stations to help us fight a larger enemy. But with shields it makes it a little harder. And as you can see in the above story there was no time to drop anything. I will go back to our war room and try to figure out how we will battle these guys again in the future. But in the end I think its all about numbers who has the most players on their team...and thats no fun
I can't believe the devs still haven't fixed this obvious exploit they have allowed.... To be clear, the devs consider this a feature working as intended. Any undocked vessel that enters your bounding box instantly causes you to come to a complete stop. Instantly. Can't move. Even if it is another faction (other factions can't even dock in the first place, so why?)..... So they just ram you with a SV and you can't do a thing about it. Plain as day exploit, and I know they are aware of it because I have privately reported it before (more than once I'm sure). Nothing has ever been done about it. Fix this exploit. Now. This feature IS NOT WORKING. It is highly broken and ripe for exploitation, and exploit it people do. Every single day. To make matters worse, SV's move much faster than a CV. So there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to counter this obvious exploit.
If the SV was intentionally used to stop your ability to move it is an illegal tactic "tackling" on HWS. It should be reported to the admins of HWS. ABN will claim it was just incidental. That claim is most assuredly male bovine fecal matter. The problem is proving it.
Even ignoring the whole pvp aspect of it, this is highly annoying even in pve. Having to move all your SVs and HVs away from your CV just because they were a little too close, or getting stuck at a SV wreckage. Is there an issue with allowing CVs to move with an undocked ship nearby?
Yes : the undocked ship could be inside the CV (same faction) and players would lose them by simply moving away. Many versions ago I tried making a HV carrying SV (prior to the"universal docking" we have now) and the passive ship would just wiggle around and could end up ejected kilometers away from my carrying SV. Same kind of stuff happens when 2 ships encroach into each other or when a ship intersects with a BA geometry. Lots of problems are caused by the lack of real "physics" regarding blocks grids, which prohibits things like elevators, pistons, collision issues like described here, no possibility of having objects reacting to forces /bouncing, etc. This "exploit" would simply not exist with proper physics/ forces reactions, it would be based on mass, with small ships being pushed away. We could also "tow" stuff around if this was cured.
Well I don't mind the tactic, I just mind the ability. And yeah it was definitely intentional but I would rather see Eleon fix this from a stop to a slow it down just a hair kinda thing. That way it can still be a tactic just not soo effective.
