1. The factory. It allows the players to hold infinite resources in their backpack, and to build all buildings and ships without ever researching the parts or even building an assembler. Other games have the factory exist as a buildable block that is placed on your base and connected to a storage container, similar to how you have your assembler. And it only assembles using parts that the user already made and placed in the container. You can't build a ship with parts that you haven't even unlocked yet, and have no constructor capable of building, just because you managed to reach a particular level. For instance the player has to build an engine before the factory can add that engine to a ship, because it won't make one from ingots. 2. The survival tool. I greatly prefer having the one-tool-that-does-all-things, do a really lousy job of doing anything, and pretty much require the player to build a chainsaw to cut trees, a bio-diesel drill to mine below the surface, and a defense weapon to protect themselves from animals. I would love to see the bio-diesel drill return to the game, and the power of the survival tool cut to 25% of what it is currently. As it is currently, you don't need the saw (it isn't faster or more efficient then the survival tool), or a drill (which is only 40% faster (5:3) and requires prom) unless you just want them, and don't need a weapon until you want to attack NPC. 3. The laser drill. Please bring back the normal (non-laser) drill for the SV, and do it early in the game, so that you can get it before all your mining is already finished. I don't know if it is just me, but because of the seemingly inability to mine without leaving rocks all over the place that make it impossible to fly around them afterwards, I do all my mining using the personal drone. Even asteroid mining. It would be nice to be able to use an SV ship for mining instead of only using the personal drone. (And no, I will never use an HV for mining, or for anything else for that matter. It is just way too bad at doing everything.) I know RE solved part of #2 and all of #3 by bringing back the old drills, but it would be great if the vanilla would too.
i 100% agree with this. even if they don't make the factory a buildable thing. it should absolutely take the components instead of the base materials. ship needs 4 xl thrusters? you need to put 4 xl thrusters in. etc. did you know if you put thrusters on an HV like an SV, it flies just like an SV in space? put up/down,left/right,forward/back thrusters on your mining HV and then go asteroid mining in it. just need an SV/CV to take it into space.
The survival tool takes like 6 minutes to mine an underwater promethium node and that's too powerful?
while i don't agree the survival tool is overpowered, why don't you have the drill and multi-tool by the time you're trying to do anything underwater? that's just crazy. totally my opinion, but crazy.
The old mechanical drill was a needless complication. Excavating with the survival tool makes for a much smoother progression. Also means you're not entirely beholden to the available fuel supply just to mine resources. Keep in mind how quickly you can put together an HV miner that only takes basic resource to build, runs on fuel made from trees or promethium it harvests, and renders most hand drilling functions moot.
Not a problem if you have lakes. Harvesting a promethium crystal does really count. If you speak about Masperon, well… one has to suffer or teleport to Akua.
It's easy enough to fell some trees and make biofuel in a couple constructors. You only need enough to reach a promethium spot on Skillon. At that point, you're in an SV with a fuel supply. Your options just became very open.
