G'day Folks, I remember taking the survey. I remember not seeing the results before I took time away from the game. It's been a year. Were the results ever shared?
Was it not promised at the time the survey was published? I certainly that that expectation; I'm pretty sure it was because representatives of Eleon said it would be shared like previous ones were. That's... disappointing.
Sigh. My dyslexia strikes again. I don't think I can fix a title. Though making fun of a disability should earn at least a yellow card.
You didn't. You made fun of evidence of my disability. It is certainly a lesser crime than specifically making fun of me because of the disability. Hence the yellow card.
I too make mistakes sometimes, you know. My problem is the keyboard : it seems to type stuff on its own. Been doing that a lot recently, probably due for a change...
To rile somebody up because of a simple typo is less a sign of a ghost in the keyboard than a shallow soul behind it.
No but see here where it started smoothly, and where you are taking this. I didn't mock the author, I commented on the typo. He brought his "disability" after the fact, and you're now attacking my "soul". Shallow soul yourself. There.
Why would they choose now to do what they said they would do then? This was discussed a long time ago 6-8 months ago, to the best of my recollection. Nothing was resolved. Meaning the developers continued to refuse to publish the results as they had promised. Time to revisit this topic. Three things you absolutely DISlike about Empyrion. Three things you absolutely DISlike about Empyrion 1 the developer's poor communication with the players. 2 the lack of explanation from the developers on how mechanics are supposed to work. 3 failure of the developers to communicate even the things they said they would.
Yeah. probably (as in I am certain you are right but didn't look for evidence to confirm). I walked away during A11 and am just considering returning to see if enough has changed in a way I would consider an improvement to warrant trying anew. The first thing I wanted to see is how my answers compared to the then-player population and any dev commentary as to how they were going to respond to the survey results. Alas, I guess I'll never know. Certainly, now that it is in release state, I will be less forgiving of poorly polished mechanics and UI. After all, the devs cut their own safety net. I have different expectations for pre-release and released content.
But, if it isn't in pre-release, it is released, no? Has Eleon invented a third state? Checking the Steam page, there is no mention of it straddling a line. Since the change was driven by the company I have to assume the devs are proud of their work and consider it released.
There were tremendous walls of text about the dropping of the alpha tag. 80/20 against by my estimation. It is my belief that they wanted to do it to boost Xmass sales. paraphrasing the devs. just because the alpha tag is gone does not mean we will not be working on all the things. I still play but not near as much as before.
Still working can be sensible. Going to release without having a polish pass -- that didn't seem to happen that I can find, not so much. Regardless, I have to assume the devs went to release proud of their current state and will judge the game based on their choice of rating. Right now, I'm busy reading the forums to get a handle on the changes and areas not changed.
Well don't waste too much time on this if you can't even grab sense from a single line of text... You made a typo in your title and lame excuses for it. Don't try pointing a finger at me for your doing. If you want to discuss attitudes, let me point you to your own, and maybe you can ask yourself if players would shut up if the developers told them "we have disabilities" when facing any kind of comment they don't like. But there's a difference here : you can say whatever you want hidden behind your screen, you have nothing to deliver. Why should the developers promise anything to people who can't even cope with simple things like the game's ownership, the company's prerogative to manage their budget like they want, and the fact that players who know nothing about game development (heck, some can't even type a sentence correctly!) spend their time telling them what and how to do their job ?
Nobody is doubting the games ownership, no clue where you always get this strange idea from, care to elaborate? The game, its copyrights to it and any other related things belong to Eleon. But our time investment definetely belongs to us. When Eleon uses the playerbase as bug testers, i.e. the experimental section, they are outsourcing their work to us. Our time isn't free even though most of us use their free time. We could spend the time on more enjoyable things and more recently we could use the time to fight the consequences of their bugs ingame. You might be considering your free time worthless but to me it is not. When i use my free time to do somebody elses job (and i am not opposed to doing that) and not get any accountable returns then i have very well the right to voice my opinion and ask for a reason why i should even be doing this in the first place, why should i trade my time for literal silence and uncertainty. The same as you have the right on an opinion that differs from mine and to voice this opinion. And my opinion is that i do have the right to ask what is going on, especially if it is a lot of free time that can be spent on doing this stuff. Heck, going through the not reproducible/plz retest tagged threads one could spend days without playing this game. And don't even get me started on bugs that aren't mentioned. Last time i logged in i wasted about 2 hours trying to get a hold of a bug which uses items twice when shift-rightclicking them. Those bug aren't getting reported as they seem more of a fluke, considering i encountered it twice in about one hundred hours of playtime, they might not even get noticed by 98% of the player base. In fact i cannot even bug report this stuff as i literally got nothing to report, so i can only hope it gets worse or magically fixes itself, especially since i do not want to waste dev time on something that is a fluke right now and only potentially could get worse. And while you might be already typing "Why didn't you report it anyway, durrhurrdurr?!?!?!" there are other threads where you ended up attacking the OP for not delivering any "evidence", something, something burden of proof, as if we're in some sort of courtyard. And then we end up on the question why we aren't wasting even more time to test something in our free but not worthless time.
You might not be reading the same forums I read then. And at not point did Eleon ever require anything from anyone. You may infer whatever you think of to try to make it different, this is the simple fact of the matter. If you consider your time of value then it is not Eleon's responsibility to tell you what to do of it. You may also infer that player rantings are ignored but that's just one more layer of speculation on your part. I did not attack people on bugs thread, and this shows your intent right here. If you value your time so much, then you might spend a bit more of it on text comprehension and timelines in development of ideas. There's always a chronology in events, and it can't be simply evacuated to suit our arguments, like what has been done right here on the start of this thread with this "your mocking my disability, you villain" which established that (unverified and I don't care honestly) after the fact. And this is very simple to understand, but you can see it's not the case equally for everyone. So just take for granted that the game(s) you want to play, I may play too. .
