    This section is for actual modding.

    This might include things like scrippting, block health changes, own blocks.... whatever it might be.
    So far there is no "real" modding. As you know you can do quite some things with the yaml files, but not enough to make a real mod.

    This section is to gather requests for modding.
    Since a lot of comments will be posted here, try to keep your requests short, clear and constructive. We will go through them from time to time to see the needs of the community.

    This is no promise and there is no release date.... but its a start to speak about it ;)

    The ability to modify block health overall or a ability to add a shield generator script.

    New block geometries and block compounding.
    Ability to adjust block face mapping for textures and colors so some faces don't cover two facets.

    Ability to add in game music to an area of a ship. IE build a lounge and have music playing when entering.

    Ability to add artwork and other non intractable items to blocks without needing add a block of geometry. IE. Compound blocks in medieval engineers.

    I'd like to request a custom item for the player to use for linking and remote access and transfer to and from a custom cargo container (home base or CV container)

    i.e. a cargo box at your base that you can access anywhere on any playfield at any time via a special item in the player hotbar (to access the container GUI), to allow retrieval of items and transfer from that container into the player inventory and vice versa... a "magic" chest, a "bag of holding" if you will... or for those that are familiar with how Minecraft mods work, Applied Energistics wireless terminal (it requires player to link it to the network), or more simply, an Ender chest and Ender pouch.

    other things could be built from this: access to a constructor, other things perhaps, similarly to how the control panel and registry functionality works in concept

    I'd like a modding tool which finally allows me to fix the flight dynamics of SV's in gravity. Weights, thrust values, torques, 6dof inertial compensations, rotational speeds.

    Ability to rotate new structure Placement Hologram
    Multiple Active Mirror Planes
    Mirror planes on the boundary between two blocks (for even width structures)
    Configurable Paint tool radius

    Set default block textures and colours
    Remove item stacks and item usage in Creative Mode

    Proper Importation System, a tool like SEToolBox is to SE, is what Empyrion needs.


    An AI module.

    Where players can change the tactics of ragdoll botts and control up to 100 of them, like we had back in BF2, they are armed with guns and can be given basic pack tactics, like storm buildings, control an area, hunt and kill, etc etc.



    Terrain building software like McEdit is to MineCraft, would also be handy in Empyrion.
    Capable of doing proper terrain editing building rather than using seeds as it is now.

    Map fog? Or whatever the name is for this.

    Where the entire map is fogged out until you uncover it by exploring.

    Love the game but kind of stinks that all I have to do is dip into a planets atmosphere, bring up map for a quick view of all the resources. Takes alot of the exploration aspect out of it for me personally. /shrug

    Could a camera block be modded into the game? And if that is possible could there be a script written that takes what ever that camera block is looking at and feeds it to the LCD display? OR would it be possible to write a script that takes whatever your turrets are looking at and feed it into the LCD display ? So we can have like a Star Trek View Screen..
    I've seen this done in Space Engineers before.

    Also could a "add image" button be added to the texture tool? So we can add our own images to the texture tool?

    Will there be a mod section added to the workshop? So we can download any new mods you guys create?

    I would love to see this community start modding their own design of thrusters blocks, turret blocks and other blocks.

    One last request. I don't know if this is possible or if you guys have access to whatever scripts control the games AI.

    Would it be possible to create a mod that adds the game AI to any ship you create in Creative mode so you can test your weapons on a moving ship? The space drone AI would be perfect for enemy SVs. Also maybe another script for enemy CVs. Just so we can create our own battles in Creative mode just for fun.

    as often as it comes up on the forums I'm surprised nobody has said
    "I'd love a way to make a grappling hook or tractor beam to move Meteorites and HVs around using my SV"

    It's kinda why personally as a weird matter of principle I am highly against mods for an unfinished game not even out of alpha state. What is the point of suggestions for game features anymore if development will fragment off into countless variations? Seems more diluting to the overall quality of the core product, when the core product isn't solidified yet. I know the global trend has been giving every individual their own special entitled feature set but at this point in development I'd prefer seeing investment in the core than the fluff.

    Completely agree.

    Just having all mods break after every patch as well... lol... and its not the responsibility of the devs to make sure all their changes/additions DONT break some hair-brained mod. Yet people will bitch and complain such-n-such no longer works after some patch, blaming the devs for breaking the game, when it was just a badly made mod they had installed.

    Not to mention the bug report mayhem... "do you have any mods installed?" ... always an issue even with completed games and people complaining about GAME SUCKS FAILS BROKEN! ... because they have 100 mods installed. Well ... NO ****.

    When I think of mods I think of the Elder Scrolls games. New clothes, textures, spells and so on. Inherent game mechanics are not mods, they are changes.

    Mods would be very nice, in time. Being able to define weapons, NPC AI, and textures just to start. I'd love to be able to wear real clothes when on a breathable planet. That just adds to immersion. My poor base needs some art work.
