2 of my Xenu styled Ground Vehicles (Hover) Ghuat K SR - Light Armored Vehicle Ghuat K TR - Civil Transport
Here's a small landspeeder I designed! It has everything you might need, plus a good amount of firepower
The hover craft I have been using as our starter spawn vessel in survival server. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qxrpnkml2ijtmx3/Spawn_Hover.epb?dl=0
From the creator of the F series SVs ( http://empyriononline.com/threads/small-vessel.1501/page-4#post-17635 ) here is a new HV: the Glaive Utility Hovercraft. Solving the industry wide problem of reliable slope conveyance, the Glaive UH features a revolutionary multiplane array of hover engines to traverse grades of up to 45 degrees with ease. Even more impressive results may be obtained, but strictly beyond the scope of warranty. Designed not only for transport, the Glaive UH comes with standard amenities, including small constructor, oxygen station, oxygen, cargo and refrigerated storage. For less civilized enviroments, a weapon turret of your choice is easily mounted, and provides a convenient passanger seat for multiplayer games. Among the many innovations of the Glaive UH, an easy repair stance can be achieved by merely powering down the vehicle. Many safety features have been incorporated, but in the end, only your experience as a pilot, and attention to maintenance, will ensure you the hours of reliable, high performance surface transportation the Glaive UH can offer!
proof of concept not only are impressive grades easy to overcome, or even stop and resume, flat land travel becomes effortless as you skim over all but those pink/purple tree things.
You know, you would probably get a better result by removing all hover engines and placing a couple of directional thrusters facing down. It´s a fine balancing but for that vessel 3 or 4 directional thrusters downwards and you'll have to turn it off to get it back to ground again….
@Lealu , curious if you've had a chance to try the idea. Would appreciate any feedback- personally i think the hover engines on the Glaive UH could all be repositioned forward one block, but then they would look only partially attatched, and we would have to pay license for the alien technology. @Kaeser, really not following what you are saying. an atmospheric vessel with downward facing thrusters inplace of hover engines is called a SV, and they generally have superior ground clearance than hovercraft. point of fact, any/ all thrusters placed along the z axis of a HV have no effect on performance, other than increased powerdraw, increased weight, and greater space requirements. even if down facing thrusters provided any effect, a hover engine consumes 20% of the power required from a directional thruster. so, thats 5 hover engines for the power reqs of one directional hv thruster. i recall the bug where stacking hovers (not thrusters) would cause a vehicle to ascend, often times out of a player's reach, but since the fix, i have never had this problem. i would like to ask any interested party to attempt to get this configuration stuck. i have picked the steepest, sharpest slopes i could find on akua, omni, and asteus (lava) and have scaled them all using nothing but the w key. no boosting, no steering, no wiggling, and i haven't found anything to even slow it down. the biggest issue i have had is the momentum of descent can sometimes pitch the vehicle on it's side, but i feel this is a piloting issue. i cant even get the back end to bottom out upon unsafe descent, thanks to the hover engines cushion overcoming the vehicle mass.
Ok guys, for those of you who just hate the way HV's handle steep climbs, here is another option, @Yolofessional this is what I meant in the previous post, you see, hover engines grant movement to HV's but they also limit their range, especially vertical range, if you remove them and add directional thrusters, HV's will climb just like SV's, and when you press Boster (Shift+Space) as they have no limit they climb real high, here are two options on that take, the Sand Racer and my Pickup Truck, just give them a try!...
Not yet but it is definitely on my to-do list when I head over to Akua. I'm currently on Omicron trying to achieve the desired balance between performance/economy/and durability on my SV. Today I tried my hand at painting. Either I need a color adviser or Xmas came much earlier this year. The other end isn't any better. Does anybody know if they are planning on adding more color options for the paint tool? Wishing we had a texture-pattern tool to match with some funny patterns to select from, like maybe band aids or stitched up wounds so ore vehicle could show it's battle scars after it's repaired. But please forget the leopard print and maybe the zebra as well. A good camo pattern would be cool thou.
#kaeser, thats pretty good, turn your hv into an sv that mounts turrets, can't roll, and (i am assuming) can't reach orbit. wonder how the fuel consumption compares. i think i might have to play around with gunship configurations on my next planet. but i do have to say, do you even thumbnail, bro? #lealu, i don't know about colors and textures, i assume so. did you notice the alien hull blocks in creative? thats a new texture this update. also, from my limited modeling experience, keeping it to 2 or maybe 3 major colors helps things look "clean."
Hmm, does not work for me anymore, if I remove the hover engine, the ship does not move anymore, no matter how many up/dn thruster I add. Does something changed since last version ?
Hi, no mine still works fine, remember though as it's a HV space can't make it rise more than 2m high, it gains altitude as the terrain rises and if you press booster it will climbs as a SV, but it's a fine tuning you need to make to get it in balance, and usually you don't need more than 1 upward thruster. Just try my HV_Hoverbike or the Sand Racer...
