Curious why so few armor their weapons ie put them in recesses. My current ship (which I will post in a bit) all weapons are completely recessed behind hull. They are pretty close to the cockpit so I am not putting on too much hull on. But they would pretty much require a direct down the barrel hit to destroy. Hull plating is cheap weapons and thrusters are not. my not so pretty ship at the moment has triangle hull pieces in front of most of the side thrusters to hope to deflect (absorb) and hits that would have destroyed an expensive thruster. I haven't thought of putting an internal bay in like several of you did and that's worth a try. going to modify its tail to try and fit in the cargo, fridge, constructor etc. on the inside.

Yeah, I have since moved my guns to internal bays on my Ares. I did not have much trouble with them getting shot off but landings had a chance to damaging the =( Now rocket pods, they will continue to be on the outside edge of the wings. Had those internal once, once. I will not be making that mistake again unless dev changes them to not arm until close to target and or make them fly faster than you. Ares mk II View attachment 2093

Since it was requestet. Here the blueprint of the sIlverdragon experimental SV construction. It was a experiment if the game can handle a SC in Capital ship Scale. The Silverdragon is 50 meters long, has 3 Decks, a Hangar (Was planned for Groundvehicles but it works not because a gridcollisionproblem). It can transport 37 persons, has 10 oxigenstation and 10 constructors. View attachment 2291 I warn you. the ship is very hard controllable because it`s scale. Imagine to fly this giant russian Airplane (I know the name now not), but guess must feel like this. You need to use the arrowkeys for acceptable good turning. (And yes it has yet many RCS Modules (Hidden worked in)
The air frame is the K7 bomber which did fly. This config (flying tank) I do not think every really worked. I have read it did a few test flights and that was it.
