I did a little more work on the Carapace today, and tested out the hangar capacity. I added sensors for the hangars, the front hangar door is for sv's, and has some blinking flares to guide you in, the rear hangar is for HV's, and has a large entry ramp. And here I crammed it full with as many ships as I could, in the end there's 12 ships in total! Though the tiny wall mounted T4-Feral interceptors take up half of that amount..
I do like the shape. Maybe that's because I've tried some stepped layouts only with the cockpit on the upper step. They were good in many ways though their rate of roll seemed a bit slower than similar conventional layouts. That bright green suits the shape nicely for me. When it comes to color schemes and decoration I think that what's pleasing to our eyes now would look like this to someone a few hundred years from now:
thanks, I appreciate that. As I said, I got the inspiration from HOMEWORLD, which I still play occasionally. Actually, I was looking for a reference to Space Battleship Yamato when I found some pics on Pinterest.com from Homeworld. I've always liked the look of there ships with the bold colors and purposeful designs. Yellow is usually my first choice but green just seemed right this time. It seems to handle pretty well but I haven't taken it on a combat mission yet. perhaps tomorrow. Thanks again for your comments and for the help you've given me in the past.
After a "nice" COQ- Error this morning and afterwards all the necessary safety precautions to prevent it from reoccurring I drilled holes again in the Surface of my Planet, leveled my Starter Dessert Base up from 10 to 12 and completed all Texturing after removing T1 Fuel tanks and also replacing 3 small Generators with one T1 Generator. I took the opportunity to make a screenshot from 500m away with Towers in Place guarding my Base.
Putting the finishing touches on that pirate casino I've been working on! Also did some testing on the proper height that I want to spawn my foundry lava lake POI at, so I can design it in creative mode on the lava lake itself. Played around with making a test cave, inspired by someone's beautiful cavern bases that they showed off. (I forget their name but if they see this say hi so I can properly credit you for the inspiration!) They gave me the idea to hide lights in the walls to get the cool lighting effect. This would be great as a cave POI on a planet.
I have a question... Since I have Built my IRDS I find the following Info confusing: CP last page states I have 26 Cargo boxes while page two devices shows only 24? I have only 24 placed. So what are the other two? Last Picture shows ALL 24 Boxes... Any Help or idea?
@Germanicus while looking at your second pic, i would guess the 26 are cargo + ammo boxes combined. @T431 nice! an extra under the roof parkinglot ups....
thanks @ravien_ff For now i settled on a prefered stile to follow, that helps alot to give a unified and consistent picture. only use colors in "Preset 2", use of pipes and truss blocks, for example.
I would have thought that too. But it shows those 2 Ammo Boxes just below the 26 Cargo Boxes...*head scratching*
hmmm... maybe a forgotten leftover from older versions. It seems to be the most logically explanation for me. Could be that the defs havn't spotted it. Should be an really simple matter to correct it in the code. I would say post it under bug reports...
Sounds right to me. I recall seeing the cargo box count being off more than once. This was a while ago. It took a combination of things to make it happen and it wasn't reliably reproducible then.
I had a similar experience with generators. Statistics said 2, devices said 1. It may well have been there was a second generator that was deleted with the advent of solar panels. I don't know, and as it was one of the lost BPs, I don't really care until it happens again.
