I had to do that with several of my builds. Thank god for the copy and paste tools (if you're working in creative). Select the aft part of your ship, copy or cut, move it back a few blocks, paste. :D

    I need a break...
Like so many others here I got carried away with Texturing...even if I have not even a ROOF on my HQ!

In the mean time I stopped actual playing, activated GM and IM and started to build without searching for Material... this Corporation Headquarter is intended not to over step the lvl 12 so most parts like Constructors and Repairbay are for that Level. If not visible... from the main entrance left is production, smelting, and the "crops". To the Right is HV Construction, Refit and Repairbay, Ammo and Weapon Storage. The Tower like shapes in the Corners are the Support or foundations for the Turrets on top.
8 layers of Concrete done, 8 to 10 more still to come;).

Wow! That looks very nice! Hm, not quite the place I would chose to spend the rest of my days, you know?;)

Ok enough of this hellish place of @ravien_ff :). Here is my private hell...at least the "no Breathable Air" - feeling it has in common:D.

I actually made a Roof of some sort..just to check if airtight and SI.

I remember back in the past when I had to tear the entire front off a build off so I could move it forward by two blocks.

I had quite a few builds I had left the way they were because they would be too much of a pain to extend/contract them.
Now I have made a lot of modifications to many of them after they introduced the copy/paste tools.

I used the copy and paste tools on the Astro Shuttle yesterday so I could move the warp core.
They really are a time/life saver.

True enough. The new large thrusters & jet thrusters are such works of art that its a shame to conceal them. Case in point, the engine
room in my CV-401 Achilles, I left room to walk around to service and admire them.

The same with my latest fighters. This is the non-warp version of my "nasty green bug".

Thought I would share a few images of a very rough draft of what is basically a new Grocery-Getter SV...

Designed for placement and maintenance of auto-miners. Unique in the execution because of the auto-miner maintenance bay that allows you to stay in the comfort of the enclosed and ventilated ship while working in harsh environments.

Note: this is just an initial draft that was mostly a proof of concept. I am still tweaking the shell and interior spaces, so it will definitely change from the early version you see in the pics below. Still a lot of work to do,...

Additionally, it is all one texture and a neutral color at this stage. This is just my method of building. Once I work out the outer shell and interior designs, I will go back and texture/color everything.

    Neat design!

Though, if that's just for getting groceries, I can only imagine how big one of your designs would be for something more serious. . . .

Okay, not only is that a really neat idea, but the ship is already looking cool!

    Thanks!

I'll have to admit that this is not my largest SV build. I believe the largest one I have posted to the workshop is this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1268567652

I like building large SVs; it allows the creation of more-detailed interiors than what can be achieved with a CV build. If you check out my workshop you'll also find a ton of small, compact SVs. It's a blend... and each style is a challenge in its own way...

In this case, I needed something large enough to fit an auto-miner and I also wanted to test out some interior layout ideas like the multi-tiered bridge, core room, and a few things I did not include in the images. The interior spaces dictated the overall size of the ship in this case, and the basic outer shell design as well.

    That's a pretty fantastic-looking ship.

Agreed. It's really too bad that we have this rigid distinction between SVs and CVs, and that they're locked into particular block sizes.

Seconded. I'd be happy if they poured the CV/SV/HV parts into the same bucket and used the smaller block size throughout. @zertali 's SVs are bigger than any CV I've built.

In the scheme of things, it is not really that big. I thought I would park it next to a few of my standard CV builds for perspective / size-comparison. ;)

In the images below are the CS Oberon, CS Iapetus, and the Helios.

In the second image, the SV is docked to the top of the bridge of the Helios (just for size comparison). The SV would be able to dock on the rear pad of the Helios with a little modification (the pad was designed for a specific SV, so it would just need minor changes to accommodate the auto-miner maintenance SV.
