I've been working on this guy again. Big 'ol passenger plane. I made a boarding ramp to go with it. The interior needs more work but it's coming along. Spoiler
ZeroG Shipyards pretty much completed here. Nothing crazy fancy here other than being a dry dock for large scale CV's
So in exp 9 so far I noticed that hover engines have 1 block less clearance to water surface than in alpha 8. Not sure about ground surface as that is irrelevant to me with HV XD As for my boats this means they would all be sunk at 0.80m hover height. I have just finished rebuilding the hover systems on 27 boats. replacing the third layer hover engines with 2nd layer hover engines, basically the hover engines need to be on the second layer instead of the third for alpha 9. This works out good because it means I can keep the hovers lower in boats with cabins. I have not updated the workshop yet just in case this all changes again before 9 release lol
Made use of the new intake deco here cooling out the engine room I am not settled with those 2 big antenna things yet, might move to roof.
I tried to attach them to a CV but the longer I look on them the more they remind me of CO2 Cartridges...
Interesting because I had the same thought when i saw it, o2 related. Simply because of its cylindrical design.
The Galaxy Passenger liner is getting a brother. Spoiler Very different interior on the military version. Plus, you know, guns. I still need to upgrade the armor on the military version and then add lights to both.
I know not everyone in this thread reads about much of the other forum so here is a little something posted by hummel yall might have missed, for those who hate to hold the W key :3 https://empyriononline.com/threads/alpha-9-things-you-could-not-do-while-piloting.46750/
Question to all base builders: What is the current max size for a base on a planet? I have a base, build in MP, but I cant spawn it on other planets, not even creative. I can spawn it in space though. and I heard the max size for spawning is less on a planet, than in space, I just havent found what the limit actually are.
It's definitely less on a planet. I haven't sat down and figured out what the max size is but it's the reason why I turned Nexus Spaceport into a space station.
Are you talking about structural integrity? I have a BA that I was beginning to think was too big for a planet. But thanks to a couple other players here, they clued me into a solution. The problem is that SI is calculated from where you are standing. When you build a base by hand, it can be big and have sound SI because you are never too far from the point of placing the block(s). The problem is a saved BP when spawned calculates the SI when it is spawned, which allows for the case that you failed to place it soundly. However, as it gets further from you, it can reach a point that it no longer calculates the SI for those blocks. And thus they have no SI and will snap off as soon as you add or remove anything. A real nuisance. The solution? Place yourself in the middle of the BA being spawned. In creative, you can simply hover your avatar over the middle of the target destination for your BP. In survival, well, then you will need a SV / CV to hover over the middle of your target. To this end, I have started work on a couple SV with enough room to spawn my personal drone. The idea is to fly the SV over the target. While the SV is hovering, I don't really get a good view down without risking falling down myself. So if I can spawn the drone, I can use the drone to look down at where I am going to spawn the base. I have tested this concept in creative. While the SI will then work properly, the challenge is that I am looking down at the prospective base and simply making an educated guess if I "pushed" it down into place correctly. Hint: my BA in question (WIP) is 198 m x 132 m.
