Using the API am I able to do something like this?

Move fuel packs from storage to the active fuel tank?

    Example:

My base has limited fuel storage but I have tons of fuel packs, I want to make a mod that will automatically put those fuel packs into the base fuel tank and then the base will not run out of power.

this seems like building a larger fuel tank but with more steps.

One should not be able to store more fuel (or, at least, orders of magnitude more fuel) in a cargo container than in a fuel tank (of the same size, at least). Why not just increase the capacity of fuel tanks with the config file?

Kind of silly isnt it ;)

That always bothered me... I build this 1x1x2 tank... and can only stick a few cells in it... walk over to my 1x1x1 storage bin, and have hundreds of fuel cells stacked in it........

What is wrong with this picture.

In a word, balance :) (well, lack thereof). The contents of fuel tanks should also have mass, which would allow fuel loads to influence ship performance (if you're running on fumes, you essentially get an acceleration bonus compared to your opponent, which could be useful assuming you don't run out of fuel entirely).

Play with MV active, you'll get that partial experience ;)

Still needs to be balanced regarding Tanks vs. Cargo though :p

Agreed. A fuel tank should never carry less fuel than a cargo container of the same size (and one could make an argument for it to carry more fuel, due to being able to discard packaging).
