I decided to play the game. Yep just as I thought! My game play has been drastically been changed! I started 3 games and each time I was left disappointed. So I thought about things for awhile and looked at the game from a different perspective. I changed in how I looked at the game. I needed to now look at the game from a new user's point of view. Wow I tell you my whole game did change from there. Everything was slowed down. The large planets I was on no longer felts small to me. I had always hated the large planet and used the much larger planet because it took longer to get around there. Well now it was no longer a problem. I started out with the standard random game. The one where you start out in a public building. I go by the motto if it's a public building it stays a public building. And as any good person will tell you. Always leave the place better then when you got there so the next person has a good stay. But if you put something in the wrong place you have to eat the cost of making a new one to move it. From here on out I always make my own bases when I need to setup shop on a distant planet. Anyways This stated out as a simple wreckage that I changed into the Rest Stop So starting there. I started building and collecting resources. I got enough mats to make my hauler from moving large amounts of back and forth. Then I next collected enough for my scout to fly over the planet looking for more things to deconstruct and get enough resources to build my starter CV. One last item to make was my tunnel rat. I use this puppy to dig a tunnel to a poi. Then I run it back to my CV and grab the next hv which is my hauler and run it through the tunnel to the poi. Sit it down below and dig a spiral ramp up to the base of the poi. My CV Then it's all about blowing a hole in the floor and fight my way through. Collecting everything I can and storing it all in my hauler and take it back to my CV and then take it all back to the rest stop and store it for later. Left is my tunnel rat and the right is my hauler Over all I had a blast. I had to adapt a number of my crafts. My tunnel rat I completely redid. It's original version need a t2 cpu level. My new one is t1 with just 1 point to max it out. But man I have to admit it It does the best job any of my miners over the years. There is so much more control over it while digging. Just love it! Now if they can keep this up! So thank you. I had a hell of a lot of fun! By the way I did take over 75% of the planet by the time I needed a break from the game.
I finally found and fixed the problem with Reforged Galaxy so it's no longer throwing errors... at some cost. Built a tester POI that has every kind of gun (player and zirax), loaded, shielded, spawns all enemies, has multiple of every kind of lootable container and weapons and shields can be selectively enabled/disabled via switches inside for testing specific weapon systems for speed, damage and effectiveness together. A test firing of the Custodian MRLS vs the Test POI: Flak Tower (only the big artillery on top is turned on). This test revealed several problems with loot tables that need to be redone to prevent exploits and increase loot yields from Ultra Rare containers, which currently suck. I also rearranged the tech tree so it's more intuitive and less spread out, with related features next to each other (E.g. ammo container next to guns, harvest container next to drills, etc...). Currently reworking power consumption and production; cutting out power costs on deco and trying to rebalance CPU while i'm at it. Sadly, there's no way to adjust the CPU values of armor and any attempt to force it causes a CoQ error on load. The missile base is indeed shielded. It is however a very weak shield. It's only 6k hp instead of the 25k that a drone base has. You probably could've cracked it with a couple of explosives. Your handheld laser weapons have a damage bonus against shields, so they probably would've worked too.
the adventures through Vanillia will continue soon...woke with the flu this morning so may not be an active day but i will try... https://forum.empyrion-homeworld.net/t/a-vanillian-odyssey/22011
Today, I finally got around to finishing the Secure Cargo Transport 02 (SCT02). It and the small SV now available on the workshop; links are below. General CV Features: - Pass-through cargo bay with ramps for easy loading / docking - Warp capable - Ventilated - Two top-side cannon turrets - Four side-mounted anti-personnel turrets (two per side) - Small constructor and storage - Room to add devices SCT02-CV: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1946933515 SCT02-SV: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1946932415
Started working some more on the POIs for the new ocean planet. Used the modular Polaris prefabs and converted them into floating UCH water bases:
Finally finished my first end game battleship... had fun, but towards the end doing lights and LCDs dragged a little! Still, looking forward to eventually spawning it in my SP survival game! Not the prettiest, but I quite like the functional bluntness of it!
im quitting building in EGS after the ammount of hate i keep getting on my builds, but i still plan to play survival next year.
I went through and put a thumbs up on all 56 of the builds you have on the Aegis Incorporated workshop page. I am also going through and doing the same to the 174 items you have in the workshop, it will take a little time but I will get it done.
O.O' omg lol thank you! wasent expecting that, tho im not one for fame i just hate the trolls, they bother me to hell and back, but thats my issue, again tho thank you, but no need
Finished Reforged Galaxy finally. Currently starting the first practical survival test (normal settings). Already found several balance/progression problems, which i've fixed.
Spent more time in Vanillia now that I'm feeling better. Finished the PDA missions. I like this story and would like to know more. I will continue my adventure and keep logging it. Follow along if you choose... https://forum.empyrion-homeworld.net/t/a-vanillian-odyssey/22011
It's interesting that Steam continues to have a downvote feature. I know of a couple forums where downvoting simply isn't an option. It avoids the kinds of abuse we see on Steam and popular stuff still manages to rise to the top. I'm not sure what Valve thinks downvoting accomplishes but it seems to me they could spare themselves a lot of headaches by simply removing it.
Honestly, I could not care less if someone downvotes one of my builds. I ignore the up/down voting and rarely check it. I created the build for me, and if I am happy with it, that's all that matters. But I understand where it matters to others, and, if it helps them enjoy the game, I have no issues going to their workshop and throwing in a few upvotes. It only takes a few moments to make someone feel better, and it costs me nothing to do it.
the downvote only bothers me to the point that it berries your build in the workshop so unless someone takes there time and looks threw several pages the workshop, they wont see your build, note, its not about the fame per say but it bothers me that the community itself is so immature enough to be this way. i guess at least its not the Halo community, thats wayyyyyyyyyyy worse, so i guess ill count my blessings.
I guess I should clarify things a bit, I have always been open to feedback on my builds. If there is something that does not work, I am fine with taking input and making adjustments. If someone is going to downvote and not leave a comment, I do not have the time or patience to be bothered by it. * Back to the thread topic. Today I spent a while out of game writing a guide and taking screenshots so folks can recover their workshop if they uninstalled / reinstalled.
That's a great attitude, and only strengthens my faith in this community! I have also noticed this when disassembling a POI, or CV.... and I see that I have SV/HV rails now in my inventory..... ?! I would have assumed it was mainly from older builds, and due to a block change, but it still persists. I figured this was fixed already. Today, I had to figure out why my server wasn't being shown in the server list. Such Fun!
