    Just a quick question regarding the updates you're making to Reforged ... Are these auto included in the Reforged Eden Project? Or is that a separate update/build that will follow? As I'm not exactly sure how all these add-ons actually work, I'm just curious if I would have to reload / restart / or wait for a Reforged Eden update :). Thanks for any reply !!

    Reforged Eden is maintained by a different person and will be updated separately. In the past the updates have been pretty close together, so I would say in a day or so, unless the Project Eden people are planning a more extensive update.

    If you do end up going with just the workshop version is it still accessable outside of steam? I'm only asking as i use steamcmd to update the server i run (different machine etc) and love this mod :D

    Thank you, as always. Am I correct to interpret "Client" as in every player who hops on the server needs to have this prefab loaded into in their Content/Prefabs folder?

  6. No, the client will get the missing files from the server.
    The client only has to have the default game files. They don't have to have any of the custom content at all.

    We've been using custom prefabs and configs on HWS for quite a while and not a single client has ever needed to install anything except the default game.

    Once I push an update to RG, I message Ravien and when he's not busy he adds the changes to Reforged Eden.
    On that bombshell, Reforged Eden has already been updated about 2 hours ago.

    Yup I usually do any updates within a day. :D

    Project Eden updates are done separately since each scenario uses different config files and don't conflict (except for two files which I rarely have to modify).

    Nice work! You we spent a lot of time to build and think it over carefully: thumbs up!
    With these ships I have just one problem: no place prepared to fint in larger thrusters and advanced generators. After upgradinn the hull to stronger armor, they become quite sluggish with only medium thrusters and large generator will fry.

    Of course you may not meant to extend the ship that much. :)
    But we should keep trying!

    This is my latest not-so-butt-ugly one, so you can see I have a loooong time to go:

    With upgrades in mind, I took my T4 version of my Firefly design and removed elements and marked where the player should put them. The original T4 had a combat steel hull, which I downgraded and had 8 generators. The main engines (the iconic ones on the wings) were the giant ones that will fit into those places if you remove the filler blocks and smaller engines. The T4 version flies well enough in RG...it's just way over CPU.

    The RG scenario discourages the one size fits all type of play where one ship is all you need. Serenity is not build for combat...you could build it for that, but it will never function well in that role. It's built to be a home for a small group of players, salvaging and looting as they go. I know I never will use her in a POI assault...that would be madness.

    Serenity's best role is as a mobile base to stage shenanigans from.

    Planned for the next update... maybe:
    The ability to purchase some ships from traders. They'll be limited to basic ships, nothing advanced or gamebreaking.
    If you locate a military shipyard though, you might get something better... If you've got the coin.

    Unfortunately, it looks like it's not going to be possible.
    I've spent the last 3 hours trying to get ships to spawn from purchasable items. Which works only by replacing the M and S base and ship spawn entities. Creating a new spawn entity with the same setup doesn't work, since the vessel won't place. That could be a bug or it could be a hardcoded thing behind the scenes.
    If it's a bug, the devs won't help with custom content.
    If it's hardcoded, it's because they don't want people to be able to buy and sell ships.

    I have n0t read all 30 pages of txt here, please forgive me if this was asked before

    How does this handle all the point releases? We are at 1.1.6 now, if I install all the reforged config files into the /content/ directory and Empyrion upgrades to 1.1.7 (and higher) how do I keep my game running with the upgrades.

    It appears that there are only 12 .ecf files to move so is it as simple as recopying them over the point release config updates?

    Easiest to use the workshop scenario where you don't have to worry about copying files or manually updating anything.

    If you still want to use the manual install it's best to copy the entire scenario out of the workshop folder and use that. That way game updates won't override your changes.

    A new game is required if you want to use the scenario though.

    Yes, just re-copy. Every update to RG includes the fixes that the devs add, sometimes before they do them.
    Make sure you include the Localization file as well. It's not a config file, but will make the game much easier to play with RG (also works fine with vanilla).

    For those interested and not looking at the Steam Workshop scenario where I keep a running changelog of changes for the next version, this is what's changing in the next update:

    It's a general balancing update.

    For 1.54:
    - Increased HP of Oxygen Station
    - Greatly increased the repair rate of all Repair Bays so they don't take 12+ hours to repair a ship.
    - Rebalanced hitpoints of CV/BA Hardened Steel and Combat Steel Blocks slightly.
    - Increased the speed and amount of HP repaired by the handheld Multitools so you don't spend an hour repairing combat steel blocks after taking a rocket to the face.
    - Reduced CPU consumption of the CV Heavy Rocket Launcher.
    - Fixed a vanilla bug where hand rails and walkways gave the wrong blocks when retrieved.
    - Small Optronic Bridges are now craftable in Large Constructors.
    - Optronics Components now take less time to craft (Except large Optronic Matrix).
    - The number of Advanced CPU Extenders available to CVs and BAs will be increased from 4 to 5. (Subject to change)
    - Amount of CPU given by BA CPU Extenders is increased by 5000, 7500 and 10000.
    - Increased Power Production of CV/BA generators slightly.
    - Added weapon item localization name for the Heavy Rocket Launcher so that it gives the full name when asking for ammunition and when mousing over the ship's toolbar.
    - Reduced CPU consumption of all CV Turrets slightly. (Does not include tool turrets)
    - Increased amount of thrust produced by all CV thrusters slightly.

    Watching player's Let's Plays of Reforged Galaxy and Reforged Eden is far more informative than actual feedback. So keep up your playing.

    Any chance of you changing SV laser drills back to cones instead of spheres, reversing the undocumented change Eleon did to them? Or tweaking them such that they don't leave artefacts behind?

    I can do, but i'll run some tests on alternative drilling systems to see if there's something better.

    Edit: I've tested other drilling styles and will report the differences between drill modes

    I did notice that there's some weirdness between the drilling styles, where the SV drills do not center their digging properly. They're off to one side and move around with each chunk of ground removed, which is probably where people getting stuck is coming from.
    The real problem is that the drill style for the SV drill is set with flattening mode's drilling mode which is terrible for mining. Mode 2 or 3 would be better.
    This will be fixed in the next version of RG.
