@Fractalite the first and formost effect of the Pc's change in Hardware was that I reached 110 FPS, given low, but Custom Settings.
I intend to work it up slowly and try to hold at about 80FPS with Graphics and Performance in some kind of a Balance.:)

@Fractalite - I don't know how these key resellers work. I'd have assumed they were a scam if they'd not been so well covered in the computer press. If I need a new Windows or Office key myself, it'll be a site like this I'll be visiting.

I did my PC upgrade last year - 3900X - but I'm still waiting to finish it off with a GPU. As such I'm looking forward to seeing what both teams bring to the market, though I think prices are going to be high this time around, perhaps even rivalling the 20 series launch.

I still recall when the top-end *80 Card - before Ti's and Titans existed - were around £400. I got my GTX 680's for £360 each when they were new - I was water cooling, so I didn't get ones with a fancy cooler, so they were cheaper. My 1070 was £380 just a few days after they launched. It was originally going to be a temporary card for me - the 1080Ti wasn't available yet - but it impressed me so much I've kept it far longer than I imagined.

Empyrion is currently very much GPU-limited for me, I need to turn a few settings down just to run 1920x1200. My CPU on the other hand barely goes over 3Ghz due to not being pushed. However, pretty much everything else I play runs just fine, I don't need a new GPU, I just wants one :) That said, I'm not prepared to be shafted with silly pricing and suspect I'll end up with an *80 class card rather than a *90 / Ti.

    Scoob.

I am curious Scoob, is Ray-tracing a possability for Empyrion? I assume that it is not, but if it is, have you tried it yet?

I bet that feels GREAT. 5600XT is a sweet little card. No driver difficulties at all?

In case of doubt : Run a smaller resolution and it will be alright.
This game is really not optimized. It gives both my laptop and tower rig alot of pain running smoothy (i7 gen 8, gtx 1060/1070, 16/32 ram).
I'm pretty outdated about current components, but if you're thinking of a tower setup, you could not miss Fractal Design boxes. They just allow possibly everything and a good airflow (or water... they can too).

    Cheers !

Yeah, one of the interesting aspects of potentially building a PC right now is the on again/off again nature of finding in-stock parts.

    My over-all favorite so far:
    https://www.newegg.com/black-phanteks-eclipse-p500a-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811854102?Description=phanteks p500a&cm_re=phanteks_p500a-_-11-854-102-_-Product&quicklink=true
    • The best air flow I can find in a case. The lack of filter on the front is a little alarming, but I am hoping the super fine mesh is enough.

    Second favorite:
    https://www.newegg.com/black-be-quiet-pure-base-atx-micro-atx-mid-tower/p/2AM-0037-00071?Description=pure base 500dx&cm_re=pure_base 500dx-_-9SIA68VB0W1038-_-Product&quicklink=true
    • The best over-all case I know. Has mesh and a filter. The only reason it is number two is because it is not just out of stock, it looks like it will not ever be re-stocked. Which is really frustrating.

    Third favorite:
    https://www.newegg.com/black-lian-li-lancool-atx-mid-tower/p/2AM-000Z-00063?Description=lian li lancool 2&cm_re=lian_li lancool 2-_-9SIAN0MBUD4946-_-Product
    • Awesome air-flow case. Essentially the same case as the P500A but cannot mount and extra 140mm fan on the front... I think. If it can then it is tied for first and is a clone of the P500A. Has mesh in the front with larger holes and no filter.... so that is worrying.

    Fourth favorite:
    https://www.newegg.com/black-fractal-design-meshify-c-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811352085?Description=Fractal design meshify c&cm_re=Fractal_design meshify c-_-11-352-085-_-Product
    • Astonishing case for only $89. I may end up having to get this and not worry about it. I REALLY hope I can squeeze in an extra 140mm fan in the front(total of three,) but we shall see.

    Fifth favorite:
    https://www.newegg.com/p/2AM-0037-00032?Description=dark base 700&cm_re=dark_base 700-_-9SIA68V6HW9594-_-Product&quicklink=true
    • Probably the best case I have ever seen. The only reason why it is last is because it is $180.

Edit: We are going to go ahead and add a sixth favorite:
    https://www.newegg.com/metallic-gray-be-quiet-pure-base-atx-mid-tower/p/2AM-0037-00065?Description=purebase 500&cm_re=purebase_500-_-9SIA68VA195706-_-Product
    • Phenomenal case. The only reason it did not make the list the first time around is I am not sure it will fit the new Nvidia cards announced today(9/1/2020.) Frankly the pricing of those cards will likely drive me away from them, but, if I can somehow swing it; they are rumored to be physically larger than the previous series of cards by quite a bit and might not fit in this case.

    -----------------------------------

There also may be other air flow focused cases I have not reviewed yet. The Fractal Design Meshify S2 is also really strong, but some of the side panel vents would need to be blocked off for it to really work.

Either way, I am likely going to be purchasing the case the is in stock, not necessarily the one I want. :( THAT means the case will likely end up being the Meshify C or the Dark Base 700.

Also, here is the Nvidia announcement live stream(now a video):

Was not as useful as I was hoping. Looks like the prices of the 3070 is/are 499, the 3080 is 699, and the 3090 is a stupid, utterly detached from reality; 1499.99. <- maybe better than I thought.

Edit: One small silver lining would be that even the 3070 is supposed to be more powerful than a 2080 TI.
    <- no. Nvidia lied.

So an interesting assessment from Jayztwocents:

He posits that the 1499.99 is actually a decrease of 1000 compared with what the 3090 is supposed to replace - the Titan RTX, which sold for 2499. His theory is that Nvidia is responding premtively to something that AMD is about to do or is currently doing and I would then add, there was a bit of a kerfuffle around their 2 quarter profits and stock prices - maybe watching what has happened with Intel has shocked them into action. <- no. Nvidia lied. They have not changed at all.

Airflow chassis before SSD, many years ago: I bought 2x small desktop chassis, just able to fit ATX size. One had MB, CPU, Cooler, and GPU. The Other had PSU, drives and DVD (and floppy). The former I also put walls inside and rearranged airflow openings so air in one side and out the other, in canals. Dust filter from vacuum cleaner package, cut to fit. Made some openings for cables between the chassis and sealed after. Size of it all were as a wide mATX cabinet. Pretty good cooling and not that much noise, do not remember those numbers. No pictures of this build sadly.

Current gaming rig have MSI 1080ti and MSI X299M with boost option, but so far have not needed to OC. Maybe try the above again in 3-4 years.

I have what may be a dumb question. And it's directly related to the new 30 series of Nvidia cards due soon. I'm thinking of finally pulling the plug on one. But ONLY so I can finally make the jump to a better (higher resolution) monitor, and still be able to play any game I want to throw at it at full on eye candy. My current, and long standing monitor is a 24" Dell that runs at 1900x1200.

In Empyrion, I only see resolutions listed up to my monitors max of 1900x1200. I want to know if this is the MAXIMUM game resolution of Empyrion, *OR* that it's just showing that since that's the max my monitor can do. (and reports to windows)

In other words, if I cant run this game at any higher resolution than 1900x1200, then I am (for now) perfectly content keeping my current monitor and video card (GEForce 1080) rather than spend (at least) $700.00 on a new video card (Nvidia 3080) and at least $400-500.00 on a new 4K monitor.

Definitely not a dumb question. @Pantera you might be a better person to ask or you will know who to ask for this. Is 1900x1200 the max resolution the game can support right now?

No it only shows the maximum your screen supports. I have it running at 2560 x 1440.

    Me too.
I previously used this resolution list to save GPU Power of my Laptops Graphic Card and improof FPS.(which worked quite well).
Now I can work with the native 27" Monitor Resolution.

Thanks folks! Most games (I have played) list all the GAMES supported resolutions, but some (like this one as you point out) tie the "supported " resolutions directly to what your monitor reports to the O.S. (probably to avoid people selecting unsupported resolutions for their monitor, having issues, then blaming the game for it). ;-)

Thanks, I think. You just made my wallet lighter, hahaha. Well, after Sept 17th anyways, and only if the blankety-blank crypto miners don't beat the rest of us to them first, phhhttt!

Though, in all seriousness, I think I will wait for "Big Navi" from AMD just to see if it puts some pressure on Nvidia in a few months. I am a big fan of AMD (I run Ryzen) and have had both companies GPU's (including Crossfire and SLI) in the past, but, (MY OPINION) the "green team's" drivers are better, and are more consistently updated when issues are found.

Yeah, as much as I would love to race out and get the 3080, if Nvidia is acting like this, I am genuinely curious if I can get a monster card but for less from AMD(along with the 4000 series which I will get.) October is going to be one crazy month.

I am curious, what Ryzen chip do you use?

I have an original Ryzen 1800X OC'd to 4GHz on water. But. I can update my motherboards BIOS to support Zen 2 CPU's (this is the main reason I despise Intel, though for some years before Ryzen, AMD was off the ball, and I had no choice and used Intel for several years. I HATE that every single flipping CPU intel comes out with, it (almost always) REQUIRES a new motherboard, even with the EXACT SAME socket!! !@$%!#^& (but I digress) hehe.

I am really looking forward to the 4000 series of AMD chips. That release might break the internet. The best part is that if I can detect that the 4000 is not that much better than the 3000 I might swoop in and get a 3k if the prices drop. They are still monster chips.

It's going to be the 3070 for me. I'm still coasting along with my 1070TI, so I can wait till the spring to get in on the new cards and see which fits best with my new build.

The wife highjacked my gaming pc for Photography editing, so I've been trucking along with my laptop except when I play Star Citizen on the weekends. The laptop is a 1060, so I feel like I will really enjoy the upgrade this spring.

Finally making the big move to Houston, after working out of town for 18 months. I've been making the drive from Dallas and finally burned out, so the I'm on a budget at the moment haha.:D
