Hey all Quick question regarding the Reforged Eden balance tweaks to mining...is there something "special" about Moon Rock? I mean, I've been mining both Ores and plain old Crushed Stone on the starting planet - Masperon, for my most recent start - initially using the Mechanical Drill (THANK YOU!) and eventually moving on to the Laser Drill and Mining HV's. However, I've noticed that Moon Rock seems to be particularly hard, taking much longer to excavate than normal, planetary crushed stone-yielding rock. Currently, I'm on Masperon Moon 1, excavating a Crashed CV site. This CV is like 90% buried, so there's a lot of terrain to clear to access the goodies it offers. I've actually excavated the same crashed CV model on the planet and, once I've through the super-soft surface (non-crushed stone yielding) terrain the rock proper seems to clear fairly quickly. On the Moon though, this rock is proving to be really resistant to the Laser Drill I'm currently using. I can be aiming at a spot for several seconds before any change in terrain occurs, clearing this Moon rock from the wreckage is a real time sink. Of course, I'm going to exploit the "Show on HUD" function to quickly target markable devices for salvage, but I do wonder why moon terrain rock seems to be so hard. Note: to be totally clear, I'm comparing Planetary Rock to Moon Rock - that is, proper "Rock" that yields "Crushed Stone" when mined - NOT the very soft surface terrain that's quick to drill through and yields nothing. I guess I'd just expect Moon Rock terrain to be softer, or at least no harder, than regular planetary terrain rock. Anyway, just wanted to see if others had noticed Moon terrain being particularly tough to get through. I would prefer, if at all possible, that it be softer, perhaps with the upper non-crushed stone yielding layer for the first few metres, as per planetary terrain. If tougher moon terrain is a deliberate balancing choice, that's cool of course, but it is making my relatively early-game moon salvage excursions quite time intensive. Perhaps I've just had poor luck with things being mostly buried in terrain, which hasn't helped. Scoob.
I'm not sure why, but the Moon's surface appears to be made of Asteroid Rock. So it's harder than regular stone with considerably higher stone yield.
Yes you're not alone The first layer is often very hard, then it becomes softer when you dig. Can't say why.
Talking about mining, I just discovered some magmacite, and can't figure out how to mine it. It's said on the planet info that we need an autominer. I think I tried all the possible ways to put an autominer on it, or use my mining SV, I just can't. With the SV, the magmacite cristal starts to reduce from its initial size, but I load no ore, and after a long try it sayd my container was full and couldn't collect the ore, and it was empty (storage about 6k, I can carry about 1,8k iron ore with it). Is there something I missed ?
I did not test magmacite with vessel drills, but next update I'm fixing it since I had to use a workaround that I'm not happy with. Maybe try with a hand drill. Also is your harvest container full? The icon might be invisible if you're playing on a server that didn't properly add/update the scenario. The auto miner description is talking about the other ores on the planet. Those you'll need an auto miner for.
Ok for the autominer, and thank you for the quick answer I'm in single player. My SV miner had its container empty, and is equipped with a capacity of around 6k, and works well on all other ores ;-) Going to check with my hover to harvest it by hand with my drone, to see what happens, I'll tell you.
After check, encountered the same problem with my hand drill. Spend nearly a full charge on the ore, the "cristal" disappeared, it said my inventory is full. Checked connected to a 320k container on my CV, and ... bingo, I could get the magmacite. On the first collect, I got 21 pieces in a single move, using 9975 slots in my container. Ok, I understand why my SV container (and my own armor storage) couldn't collect it, it's smaller than that. Used a bit more than 6 charges with my hand drill to collect the full spot, that gave 209 magmacite using 99275 slots in my container. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be better to be able to collect them one by one with an SV. Having to do that with the hand drill connected to the CV container isn't really powerfull, when on the other hand you're able to travel through the galaxy Edit : had another idea, same thing, I don't know if it easy to do, maybe it's a bad idea. I saw that the lava floor under the magmacite seems to be hard. Could be nice to have to put an autominer under it (quite challenging to do it above the 1000°C lava floor), like for the other ores on the planet. You'd have to find other things to do while the magmacite is collected (maybe visit the local solar system while autominers are working).
last Game I found Magmacite and mined it with an sv... the first bite was so heavy the SV crashlanded in the magma right awawy ;P I had to drop it and strap a few jet engines on the sv for the next try and that did it
That explains it. Is this a vanilla thing? I've not played vanilla in a while, so sometimes lose sight of what's what. Obviously RE's somewhat slower mining (at least with the Laser Drill) exaggerates the issue. Though I do recall moon rock seeming generally fairly soft as rock goes, more easily cleared with hand tools. Though perhaps I'm just getting vanilla / modded muddled up. Perhaps the moon had both softer and hard layers previously, so clearing out those wrecks was quicker. Scoob.
LOL yes, I checked my SV, planet with 2G, if I had enough storage, I too would have sunk in the lava Thinking about specifically buildind (or modifying) an SV for the next time I harvest magmacite : 1 drill, big storage, powerfull thrusters.
One to bring directly to Eleon's attention then? Do you think this was an accidental change? I mean, is this an easy thing to be changed by mistake? I don't recall reading anything about it in change notes - not that I have them memorised or anything lol. Scoob.
There is no problem. Reforged has slower drills. You'll notice some terrain being much harder to drill.
I'd like to give some feedback on the last part of the Dead Part 2 - the last cry, I'll try not to spoil it. First of all, it's really an awesome quest, and that would be nice if the game had dozens of quest like that I fully enjoyed it. Now, I just had some problem finishing in solo the last piece of work. I could quite easily clear the 2 first floors of the Ark. On the 3rd and the 4th, it was just impossible. Even in a suicide mission for each room, it was quite impossible to reach any of the rooms we have to reach. After 4 tries (I didn't count the number of deaths on each try), I decided to test it in god mode, to see how it turns ... and LOL, even in god mode, with epic guns and the minigun, I couldn't clear my way to the rooms I needed to visit, the respawn was faster than my epic guns. I fired more than 300 incendiary grenades, and there was still more NPCs than at the beginning of the fight. Maybe it's doable with a team of 4, even not sure, but I can't see how it could be possible to do it in a solo game. Or there is something I missed. If someone has already done it, i'll be happy to hear that there is a trick to find ;-)
I could do it in epic armor on "medium" game difficulty and some epic weapons while solo. My brother and I did it together on hard. So it is possible but yes it's very hard.
Yes, I'm on Reforged. The spawn rate is just awfull, they are dozens on the 3rd floor, and spawn back faster than what the incendiary minigun can destroy in continuous shots
I had the same problem with "The Last Cry". I made it to the Ark, cleared the 2 upper floors and this was it. No way to keep up with the spawn rate on the other floors. No matter how well equipped you are, there is just no way to clear those floors well enough to get to the various rooms. Besides that, I really enjoyed the quest. (And really want to finish it!) This was also on SP in Reforged Eden.
Guys, we started Reforged Eden recently, and now I cannot find puzzle buildings with data pads in exploration sites. Previously we played Project Eden and they were all in exploration sites and even in ordinary systems. In Reforged Eden all we find in explorations sites are destroyed vessels graveyards in lvl2 and big prometium containers in lvl3. Did puzlles were moved to somewhere else?
Tryed to solo a POI on a medium Planet... died a lot and used up all shotgun ammo i had with me (on my ship that is) When I have to reload and there are Abominations on me I die. I use a combat shotgun and epic medium or normal heavy armor. there is no easy mode for ground combat, is there? or a tip what I might be doing wrong?
