    The current flight system is very arcadey, and i think its down to the wasd movement system.

    How hard would it be to implement a throttle system that works on a slider (like elite dangerous) rather than holding a button down?

    I think that alone would improve immersion.

    Other ideas;

    - revamped sounds
    - repair bay can connect to a cargo container
    - crouch
    - differing prices on goods to allow proper trading

    To have a slider requires buying or owning a joystick, and lots of players have none. Besides that, just disable auto-brakes and your WASD should work just like a real "throttle", unless your ship has ridiculously high thrust power. We also have cruise control, so press the appropriate key along with "forward" to set the speed, very simply.

    Yeah, but let's have joystick compatibility for those of us who DO have them, okay? Please?

    Not necessarily. If you play E:D with a controller, the top bumper buttons control speed. Holding the button down slides the trottle forward, holding the other button slides it back.

    if one was to use their eyes while reading my original post, they would realise that im not suggesting a specific to controller option, or joystick support just yet; rather that across the board, while flying vehicles, the w and s keys (and their controller variants) becomes a slider rather than push to go.

    It is a tiny change which I believe would strip away some of the arcade-y feel in flying.

    However, it was just a "throw ideas into the air, brainstorm" so not something I would picket for.

    I will have a read through some of those links though and see the general consensus of joystick support as it would be rather interesting.

    I did, and I offer the little search free of charge. Was easy indeed. I can tell you that each and every one of the items that you mentioned have already been suggested a few times, either in the "suggestions" section or in the "feedback" section (favorite, most desired features & such). But if you state that the controls for ships feel "arcadey" then it's nothing new either, but it has not much to do with the WASD system. That is addressed a few times here and there.

    A simple quick search with "joystick" yielded 5 pages of threads to explore.

    There is more in there than just "controller support" as it also discusses ship behavior in some threads, mouse smoothing and the "pilot" mode, and you might also find the thread (I did not find it) about a JoyToKey script that supposedly works for Empyrion. You can check @Bollen 's profile posts to try to find it if this can help.

    @Kassonnade ,
    This was 2 years ago. Regardless, I still have hopes. Having ways to finagle and finesse the game to do what we want is fine. I, however, prefer my control options to be built into the Game. Primarily, I don't fully trust 3rd party add-ons. I'm not referring to scenarios or BPs, as they are made within the Game. I mean outside apps like Joy to Key. They are probably fine, but I prefer the Devs to either incorporate it into the Game or create their own as part of the Game. My hope is for the latter.

    Are these not functional ?

    Apart from this, I also happen to have a joystick, and it comes (like all my hardware in fact) with a dedicated config application for key assignment, macros, etc. This is provided with the hardware. What's your case ?

    Are these a JOYSTICK? I don't give a rat's ass about controllers. I want to see a tab for Joystick Layout!
    Hey, maybe I've missed something. It wouldn't be the first time. I've got dual Thrustmaster t-16000 so i could get a left-hand version. Maybe I need to look at it again.

    The point is that you quote Pantera and write "it's been 2 years" but they did add controller support, although not a complete support for all makes and brands. So it's not like they have done nothing on the issue since 2 years, right ?

    The fact that analog "joysticks" are now recognize by the game should allow to use a joystick in some way, and the two thumb thingy on a controller are just that : analog "joysticks"operated by thumbs. Maybe I'm completely wrong and these are not "joysticks" because we move them with thumbs ?

    I will try my old Logitech stick and see what happens...

    Obviously whatever you have installed on your PC is not seen by the game or by windows... The screenshots I posted are from Empyrion, taken today.

    First, This is the screen i meant to show:
    2021-05-18.png
    My game is updated every time one is available. I don't understand why yours is different. Currently, i'm playing v1.4.7 3283 if that means anything.

    Second, both my Thrustmaster and my Saitek joysticks are recognized by my computer. As to the game, I have no idea, other than... apparently not.

    Third, I did not properly edit Pantera's comment. I should have deleted the part about controllers. All I was referring to was his comment about not getting hopes up for HOTAS (joystick) support until they find time. I was just wondering if, after 2 years, they might find time, that's all.

    Still friends, I hope.:)
