Feedback Required What would be your preferred input device for flying?

I agree completely. I recently acquired ThrustMaster's dual joystick setup, initially for MechWarrior 5, but hoping to make use of at least (the left) half of it here (south-paw, ya know).

I have often referred to Independence War (I--War). Near the end of the 20th century, it was , imo, the best starship sim around with a 3D open galaxy. What it lacked in planetary exploration, it made up in ship-to-ship combat. It made full use of the joystick and keyboard. I have long hoped that a comparable set-up could be achieved here.

As for complaining, I do it all the time. If you don't, nothing gets fixed. Doesn't mean I don't love this game. 4.87 years, averaging 4 hours every day, would indicate some amount of devotion.

 

I would love to have joystick and foot pedal support. The joystick would give the pitch and yaw control and the foot petals set up for strafing and up and down. A throttle control that isn't either wide open or dead stop would also be nice.

I'm playing Star Citizen with HOMAS... mouse on the right, VPC Constellation ALPHA left, keyboard in the middle. Would love to use that combi in EGS

 

Flying : XBox controller with the "joytokey" software while desperately waiting to be able to modify the configuration of the joypad in game!

 

Is that anything like a HOTAS?

I'd just like to be able to use whatever.

Of all the games I have played, Elite: Dangerous has the absolute best options for controllers - if you can plug it in, you can use it.

Someone even used a guitar to fly a ship.

HOTAS = Hands On Throttle And Stick
HOMAS = Hands On Mouse And Stick

As I wrote, I have a Roccat TYON mouse on the right hand, a VPC Constellation ALPHA Stick on the left and a WOOTING two keyboard in the middle - because SC has a LOT of Keybindings

 

So does Elite: Dangerous. I use a Logitech 3D Pro stick, CH Throttle, G13 Game Pad, and three aviation switch boxes with it, in addition to mouse and keyboard for on-foot activities, because a stick and throttle just don't feel right. I can't abide Chris Roberts, so I won't be getting into SC.

 

So... Is HOTAS ever going to be a thing?

I think you misunderstood my post, it was directed at the developers as in: so... Are you ever going to add HOTAS support?

 

In that case I suggest next time express yourself in a more proper way.
