Nothing like having fleets of AI to destroy your ships and having to rebuild them or find the missing blocks.
UPDATED Structure A system similar to Mount and Blade: Warband's would be great! I suggest instead of limited "timed" contracts is morale and salary based content. If you have a ship crew, they have to eat, drink, and receive a pay check. Ultimately you would have a few different types of NPCs; Story-based (Hired), Story Based (Not for Hire), Basic NPC (Hired), Basic NPC (Not for Hire) and Enemies. The way it would work is that Story Based NPCs would be recognizable by a name (Bob, Sandra, Larry, etc.) and the basic ones would be named Farmer, Soldier, miner, Engineer, etc. Basic NPCs will be hired to perform a specific task and will be named differently than the basic NPCs not for Hire. They would be named villager, civilian, official, officer, etc. So with the Story Based NPCs you will have more dialogue choices and be able to receive missions and build rapport. They would rank up or raise basic stats with experience and would have a leveling system with a skill tree and attributes. Morale will affect the way your party reacts to you or if your soldiers desert you. You risk desertion if you run low on food supplies or credits
PLEASE ADD NPCS TO CREATIVE MODE PLEASE PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU WITH MY LIFE PLEASE JUST DO IT PLEASE ITS NOT THAT HARD PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU PLEASSEEEEEEE
But...wait...do they spawn automatically at random just like Survival? Is there a way to toggle it on if its off?
I wanted to toss a few of my npc suggestions here. I would love to have dead npc deco blocks and skeleton deco blocks. How cool would it be to enter the crashed ship and see some of the dead crew still on board or go into the abandoned mine/factory and see an alien skeleton. I was thinking with say the engineer npc block it would be nice to use signal logic to link it with a turret for a snall rate of fire increase and rotation increase. Now the ai turrets dont fire at max speed, they fire much faster manually(at least the cannon and minigun do). Setting up the security npc like a turret, choosing the targets it fires on. Allowing it to roam a certain area maybe setting up the area like the motion detection sensor would be cool. Ive been thinking of the crew npc's as surviving crew from the crashed ships, perhaps we are buying their freedom maybe they were slaves or it was ransom.
Hey everyone, there is a new thread out for ship crews. We are all excited to say that this all isn't just hopes and dreams anymore, its starting to come to fruition. I will be hosting weekly polls on that thread for all the NPC enthusiasts. Feel free to leave a vote and voice your opinion, and if you have any ideas, pm me and I'll poll the community. This should end up being a useful tool for the devs if there is good participation, so please check it out! Thanks! and by the way.... If you want to or haven't voted in the poll: Rapport: Should there be a system added for reputation with NPCs of NPC Factions? If So what? Go by and vote! The poll closes tomorrow Here is the link: https://empyriononline.com/threads/wishlist-for-npc-crews-and-npc-faction-members.28730/
Such a lonely thread Are NPC Companions still a pipe dream? Should I even ask anymore about it? Oct 2017 and I'm still waiting .......Tumbleweeds.......
I suspect that the developers have some problems with the implementation of these ideas. Because not only in this topic they were asked to finalize the NPC. The RE script has already taken the first steps in this direction, but I think these functions should work in the vanilla version.
I just think they don't have the manpower. 7D2D NPC companions were added by modders... Unity is not hard. I love Empyrion, but it's 1/4 of where I thought it would be at this point. I kind of gave up with the CPU thing. Don't add artificial limits. Make the physics correct, and the limits will be organic. Of course when I explained this to them they scoffed and said the physics are good and they "won't add artificial limits". Garbage. I'm a licensed pilot, licensed drone pilot, licensed SCCA driver, and have a bachelors in computer science. They started to make a great game, and it went off the rails because they're amateurs, and I don't think they ever had a real vision.
Point 1 of the poll is in the game, NPCs will stay on their consoles but you cannot speak to them currently, but is this necessary? It would be rubbish anyway The point with NPC fleets isn't related to NPCs I think, it's about how combat between ships evolve, and the flying and combat AI of NPC ships. I voted for Alien Invasion which should put NPCs to a more active role in the game, at least I hope so.
