I actually just had this happen again 2 days ago when landing to dock an SV to my CV. Only the CV was not parked in the dirt or on rocks or anything. It was on a purpose built set of concrete landing blocks at my base. The CV was perfectly level and only had minimal power online to sustain the farm and fridges. Landing the SV not only made it jiggle, it sent it spinning upside down and then bounced around wildly on the ground until I was able to exit the cockpit of the SV. At which point the CV was half embedded into the base structure and continued to gyrate wildly until it freed itself from the base's collision boxes. Afterward it got catapulted 1.5km away over the land and I had to go bring it back. I don't know if it matters or not but it wasn't in a vanilla game session, I was playing the updated Star Salvage scenario. No idea if that should matter for this though.
I know this issue happens seemingly at random. And in so many different ways and situations. And yes I have seen it happen as you described. However the ways for reproduction I listed are where I can semi-reliably make it happen.
Last night my brother's CV kept randomly flipping then correcting itself sometimes when he left the pilot seat, sending him clipping through the floor falling out onto a lava planet. Luckily I was there with a second ship but if not then this would have been a quit moment for a new player.
I have had days where this issue nearly became a quit moment for me as an older player. I have no idea what is currently on the top of the bugfix priority list, but I sincerely hope it is this and the other collision issues with CVs/SVs.
Happened to my powered down cargo CV on a planet. I docked up a miner inside, and she started bucking. I'm starting to wonder if CVs don't need some kind of parking brake that freezes them in place.
I managed to reproduce it by spawning in creative mode a CV into another CV on purpose. The Spawned CV started jiggling trying to "free" from the first one. Seems it is the colliders doing their thing. In this case though, only setposition command helped. In ohter cases if i.e. a small part of the spawned vessel is inside another one and you pilot it jiggling helps to free both of them.
I doubt this. I do build certain things on stands but then copy and paste the build core onto the stand start location then run a clear pivot on them as part of my checklist.
