I just tried to play after being out of the game for a while and saw there was a new update. now my dude is running like he's glued to the floor. did they nerf the heck out of run speed or something? i know i'm wearing heavy armor but my guy is going so slow i can't bring myself to crawl to an armor locker to try to remove the armor and see if tht helps. currently he's going so slow he's basically walking everywhere.

this is legit a game killer for me. i can't play a game where you can only walk super slow anywhere. realism isn't worth a huge waste of my time.

All the armors give penalties. They should provide only bonuses, like power armor in other games. It amazes me that this game of space ships with lasers and warp drives has the equivalent of medieval plate armor, heavy and cumbersome. I usually modify my solo games to add bonuses and make them "power" armor; I can't do anything about the servers I play on however...

There is always the Configs... there you can make like it's like Power Armour and run faster jump higher and fly with your jetpack,
Games are for you to enjoy, and as such it's up to you to bend the universe to meet your desires.

    PS, in SOLO

But it's NOT power armor. It's a space suit... with added armor and a jetpack. At no point in the game is it even remotely hinted that the player's armor possesses any strength-enhancing abilities.

Use boosters to adjust suit properties. They're really cheap, so buy enough to experiment with. Multiboosts in particular are good for versatility. Stacked mobility boosts will make you faster in your suit than out of it.

It's about pretend, if a game isn't quite what what you want you change it... and pretend.
It's what modding is all about, and you, one of the biggest movers here should understand that, when I play 'anything really' if I want something a bit different to that which is on offer or perhaps even not lore, I don't simply walk away, I look towards modders and see what they have to offer and or look or the configs to make it more to my desires.

It is not a space suit, it is ARMOR. The game even calls it "armor." Reforged Eden even has version called "Reinforced Medium Armor" as an example. We can make it a "space suit" by adding an EVA booster which is a modification of the base armor.

The game absolutely hints that the armor possesses strength-enhancing abilities, otherwise how does adding a chip like a multi-booster make us run faster?

Whoever said that suit mods are chips? The changes they impart suggest far more extensive alteration.

I don't remember ever having to bolt on Steve Austin legs in the locker room, so I can't really think what my make me run faster or boost my jump height than an electronic chip to reprogram the suit.
Still, feel free to make up some techno jarble to explain it, but if I want to call my b*stardised Armour/Vac suit a 'Power Armour' I shall,
but I don't, I usually call it 'Amanda'
"Today, I are mostly be wearing Amanda"

    Okay.

When you install a mobility boost, you replace a lot of protective plating and padding with lighter components, reducing armor production and weight. Armor boosts do the inverse. Multiboosts replace various standard issue components with higher quality ones, leading to an overall performance boost. EVA boosts replace protective padding with bulky insulation that slows you down.

I hope that wasn't too technical.

Visually it's still only replacing one small squarish "chip" in one of the suit's slots. I would imagin that these "boosters" are in fact containers that inject nanotubes of different makings into the armor's plating, which must benefit from the same "integrated plumbing & wiring" as the regular building blocks (ref. discussions on how power & fuel is distributed in a ship or base without any kind of physical connection = must be "integrated" in the blocks themselves)...
