We took our new small carrier Mephistoles out for it's maiden flight today. Just a quick shakedown flight really, to make sure we've got everything we need Off to Akua's Moon, to loot it And of course, to do some digging
With the success of Micro, I realized I might have a talent for awesome smaller HV's so I thought I would spend the evening building a few, here is the first: Introducing Zone, Micro's slightly bigger, slightly more expensive, but lower-level brother. Fast, agile, and well suited to later modification. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802799212 Enjoy!
I made a thing. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802834994 Ninja Edit: oh and I may have updated the SV version's thrusters and weapons too.
You Sir, are not entirely bad at understatement. Finished the last of my Civilian projects today, including the "Gourmeteor" restaurant. See the Civilian Challenge thread.
The second: Introducing, Filament. A slightly larger, more for mid-game, HV. Despite its slightly larger size(as opposed to teeny tiny) it handles really well. Painted with a cool glowing orange. Comes with 4 rocket launchers, but could be replaced with other stuff as well; expanded to include more turrets, etc.. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802900834 I would also like to give a shout-out to @oojimaflip and @vicomt for the inspiration to introduce uneven surfaces to spice up a design. Many thanks! Enjoy!
Let's do a catch-up. I've been working on getting re-employed, so that's been taking a lot of focus. On the plus side, I have landed interviews for two positions! Go me! "I'd like to thank me for flying 'Me Airlines'." - Cal Meacham So, over on Unknown Skies, the trading faction has grown to four members. Yay! We have our CV, the Skipjack, an Orbital, Starside, and several utility SV's, and a utility HV. The planet (Yukai) has been mined out, so there's only meteorites striking, but they're plentiful. So the HV does not get a lot of use right now. We've gone around, dropped T3 miners in various places, so we're doing well there. We've also reached a milestone, we have a T2 fridge fully stocked with Canned Vegetables. That's 700, for those of your counting at home. Each faction member has an office, and I think when Alpha 4.4 drops, I'll start building out a 'city' using the modular building options! Meanwhile, at an undisclosed location, Star Trials of the Whirlwind class Battlecruiser have begun... I've put in some good work on my RP server ideas, including alien factions, interplay, and more plot. THICK. I will be releasing details, information, and the custom yaml files as I flesh out the game. When we start playing, we'll stream and post details. Finally, I have installed OBS Studio, and will start streaming our adventures soon over on Twitch.tv! --Brian
Number three: Introducing, Serpent River. A smaller, a-symmetrical HV that is well armed, incredibly nimble, and very fast. Designed with this forum thread in mind: http://empyriononline.com/threads/share-your-a-symmetrical-vessel-designs.7587/ Covers terrain with remarkable agility. Will also glide. Steam Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802930329 Enjoy!
Before I get to the fourth, I decided to finally publish a collection! Yes! Woo, me! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802943801
Last gaming-till-early-morning vacation is over! anywayz: Yesterday I made a bigger version of my little CV. Same approach: it had to fit 2 hangar doors. Vertical, so 13 blocks width and 13 blocks distance. The door mechanism makes the doorway a tad smaller. Yes I got stuck.. LOL. Learned that the hard way. Since I didn't want to loose time digging another hour I limited the height. Got me 2 small CV which both can fit my hangar. That is one at a time. It looks a bit more like the Stargate Atlantis Puddle Jumpers. Ok ok, the window goes the wrong way but whatever This version has an enclosed warp coil, constructor, kitchen and med pod. A minigun turret and docking zone at the top. Sentrys cover the blind spots. There are 2 belly sentrys to clear the landing zone. Front and aft sentrys keep the landing zone bug free. At first I made the wings bigger but I couldn't get it out of the hangar..so I compromised. It needs some painting and texturing. I looks like combat steel however the biggest part is just hardened steel. Made a short trip to restock on supply's and I must say I'm quiet pleased. It holds it own as a mini base in PVE. That gives the opportunity to deploy generators + auto miners ang go foraging or raiding. (with the SV docked) (milk run to the auto miners and grabbing any fauna/flora at the same time) (Once it's textured/painted I'll trow it on the workshop with the right credentials )
I'm still trying to ponder how to go about a Asymm HV of my own... but no go thus far... my Brain's still too damn fried from all that Alien POI Contest Entry work...
I am liking this one much better than your others. Don't get me wrong, their designs are interesting, but the blue / yellow, bright lights, and that (IMO godawful) combat-steel texture are really hard on my eyes. The Whirlwind is a vast visual improvement, in my opinion. @Fractalite, those HVs are gorgeous. Actually making me consider using one, at least early-game.
That's fair, Kieve. I choose color schemes based on their role. I'm in the process of dimming most lights, as on the Whirl. The Ark Royal will get a re-do on her paint scheme, bringing her inline with the other civilian vessels. Glad you like it! --Brian
That last one looked so much like a postcard, I couldn't help myself. Especially after remembering what hell the place was for my poor Nephilim...
I must say I was expecting a more harsh environment. I had the misfortune of bumping in a POI which sat nicely covered in a valley. Took some damage but got a way. Found myself an ore spot and touched down. Did some quick repairs and prepared for some close encounters. I have yet to see a creature. Some walking rocks in the mist, yes, those I saw. That lava planet was a bit more like hell. Every now and then my sentries went of and I could never find a corpse!
If, by 'Lava Planet', ya mean Aestus... then Aestus is the current meanest Vanilla Planet Empyrion has to offer at this time.
Introducing, The Progenitor. So I did actually finish a fourth - my equivalent of a late game but very accessible small HV.... but I am not in love with it yet - it needs something, else. I am not quite sure what that is. It is pretty cheap for late game: It is an absolute rocket: I dunno. I must head to bed so I will finish tomorrow, but what to do..... what to do....
Ya forgot the Artillery Turret? For the Topic: The only little bit of thing I managed in Empyrion lately is be slowpoke slow learning about the Fusion Cell addition, check it out in Creative, then fall in love with it.
