Custom AI CV's

    I did share them champ, in the custom planet thread.

    Also you need to be aware Im on the next version of game, so if its broken in your current version, downloading my files wont fix it, you will still need to wait for the next version.

    But I also made a film of the test we did on it of the first test which is where it just spawns more freighters in, I will cut the footage of the other test to utube asap and post it for you, probably later today.

    thx fordownloading nearly 300mb to find 5lines of yaml code..... will reply soon.

    Edit: cant find any difference in the code with our try to get custom group names to work.
    really strange.

    There broke right now, only default frieghters are spawning for me also in two playfields. They used to work fine.

    posting here as well hoping someone has an answer

    So I have seen tutorials and how to's to place custome POI on planets, and how to spawn alien ships etc.

    However, how do you place a custom POI in space? IN the YAML file it has an extra line called type. If you check under prefab it has both edb files. I design a space station, saved the blueprint, gave it a group name (which btw make sno mention below). So how do you place one in space? Prefab name is the name of my edb file. What must I use for the type?

    Are the custom freghters working? I created a few and gave them a new group but they did not work. I had to set them to freighter as the group for them to work.

    still no progress here. Dont work for me.But i had not much time for testing it. Piddlefoot wrote he got them working. (custom ones). I have to test that out with his files, but as i said, i hadnt the time yet. All you have to do is to download his files, searching for the group name "war" via Notebook ++ or similiar and jump to the playfield.

    Like I said they work if you set the group to Freighter. I have several custom ships working this way.
    I just wanted to get them in their own group so I could for escorts and fleets.

    Ive paused on the custom AI myself until the Devs bring more attention to the AI CV down the road. I feel like they've introduced a great element in the game and they probably won't leave it the way it is right now.

    For now I've just made all of my custom freighters under the group "freighters"... players will usually find the stock ones strolling about in space on the server but sometimes they find themselves up against a battleship will glorious loot or the small chance of a rogue player looking ship easy to snipe down and can swiftly scrap to help with their own blueprints or CV building. We may not be able to always have our one custom AI CV spawn but integrating them with the stock ones creates a bit more variety for what players will find.

    For Example.....

    I was building an SV in my Hanger in orbit of Galor Prime moon on my non-admin account. Usually it was the stock freighters I was use to passing by, my CV could whimper one of those down no problem but this time it was the Ziraxia battleship I had made a couple weeks ago that finally spawned... The battleship closed in as I tried to get a landing gear on the SV and dock it... I was halfway to my bridge then the blasts of laser fire from alien guns blasted through my cruisers nacelles. By the time I was in the pilot seat I only had the 2 small backup thrusters on the saucer section left. I pressed down on that "w" key as if pressing it harder would make my ship move faster. I was on a collision course to the slow moving Ziraxian Battleship firing my rockets till finally the lasers shredded through the layers of hardened steel protecting my Core leaving a hole through my hull as big as a hanger door. I had survived, the laser fire had stopped. My garden and cargo boxes were still there but my brand new SV and the HV I had docked were gone. I put out an SOS in chat and FMR faction was luckily close by. They came to my rescue with a Core and Shoved some thrusters on my CV, I followed them to their space station with the leftover scraps of my cruiser. I ended up joining their faction and we rebuilt the "SS. Detroit" I had thought of removing my Ziraxian battleship from the prefabs folder but come to find out a group of 3 players took it down with some beefy SV's in another system where it had spawned, they messaged me on my admin steam account telling me about there experience with that ship and another freighter they had hunted down. Despite the fact that I had my CV blown up, I decided to keep the surprise element of my AI CV's on the server. Even though the group aspect is glitched, they're is still a lot you can do/imagine with this aspect of the game with your own designs that result in player experiences they don't get in single player or on a default rented server.

    Don't give up on the AI CV's, we need to build more!
