I finished up a hangar/landing pad type building. It turned out ok. Worked on the CV Lightning a bit more. Leaning heavily towards redoing the styling/design rather than a faithful conversion. Made some modifications to the ZeroG Theta Hangar and the Tier 1 CV prefab and I've been working on my castle some more. I've added more video game statues to the maze, added a bunch of statuary, and I'm redoing parts of the castle's interior. I've never been completely happy with the way it turned out but this is shaping up nicely. It's been a busy couple of days.
I thought i keep you guys updated with the Omega Fleets pocket Battlestar. (if anyone cares. ) I think i'm finished with the exteriors and interiors need just a bit of polish: It is radically different and less high tech looking than the other ships of the Omega Command Fleet. I heavily took the old Lady Galactica (BSG 2003) as inspiration for it. Extremely sturdy and durable, many systems are doubled, but i kept its style as low tech and rough as possible. (which wasn't all that difficult with all the trashy styled things availlable in the game, lol) Spoiler: More Images Funny thing is, i didn't intended it to be so big at all. Some Interior shots: Since this is my first dedicated Combat ship (and i didn't had any plan for it, basically made it as it went along) Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?
Looks good! One suggestion...build out the rear/engines of your Battlestar a little more. It looks out of place compared to the rest of the ship(which looks fantastic).
Yeah I never understood why ppl complain about not having more planets when a lot of servers use custom playfields with 50-150 planets. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have planets 3-5x larger than the current planets, but there are plenty of mostly PvE servers with a steady population that you do not have to worry about PvP on if you just want a relaxed experience.
And my castle has been updated! I added Galaga and Galaxian and Space Invaders statues to the maze area and I reworked a lot of the interior. I also reworked the top of the floor of the tallest tower. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Spoiler Old Version NEW version: Some more shots of the castle. I particularly like this one: A couple of the new rooms:
Improved the engine housings, but i kept them fairly small, to make the ship fit to the rest of the fleet. (I didn't want to create a Battlestar replica.) Spoiler: another image Ok, now i need some Cylon baseships to see if it can kick some ass, lol. (and a couple of NPC/drone viper squads )
A Cylon Basestar and Cylon fighter(classic versions of course) are on my to do list. The fighter is kind of challenging because of the curve of the hull. I need to make another attempt at it.
Doesn't need to be a cylon ship to fight against, since it's part of the Omega outpost setting. (there wheren't any cylons, but a rather nasty insectoid species) I'd be glad if i could generally test it in Battle. Getting frustrated by now. My explorer fleet have nothing to discover, my battleship has nothing to fight against or protect. But hey, i still have the Mobile Cargo storage, i can ship some materials from one ship to the next. (no matter if it makes sense, lol) Seriously, i'm slowly running out of ideas without any given context (speaking something interesting to do). I should start working on a Starbase again, but if i think what happend to the last one i tried to build, my motivation goes to zero. Btw, has anyone ever mentioned, that we could build drone ships ourselves somewhen? (you know, send out some squads of them to zip around the battleship to protect it or send them towards an enemy.) PS: your Cylon Basestar, original series or BSG 2003?
Lets see, what did I do in EGS today ... First I had fun in a game that keeps on getting better... Then I showed a troll his ass and kicked him to the curb. Was a good day.
Last night we went to Ningues to start a new base there. I love the snow. And it was snowing, a really nice touch. And the snow crunched as I walked, nice touch. I dug a pit to the lava and we're placing our core down there where it's warm. I'm adding an elevator, and a glass floor so I can see the lava flow. Topside, instead of 1 base, we're building smaller buildings, with bridges over the small pools. Oh and 4 turrets, one for each corner of the property, to keep the RIF-raf out. Not many critters here to bother us, except our drone base next store that kindly sends us a drone once in a while to see if we're ok, and give us some parts. Night time is pleasant because it never gets pitch dark. If it had oxygen, I'd never leave. I may make a custom planet like this with O2. I think it's going to be peaceful. Will write soon Mom, see ya.
My good sir, this looks awesome! First i didn't know where to put it, until i remembered a movie i saw when i was a kid (and did not understand the slightests thing about it, back then): The older ones among us may remember this unrivaled classic!
I've heard of that movie but I've never actually seen it. I was trying to make a throne room but couldn't quite get the look I wanted(computer chairs don't exactly make a decent throne and the spacing was off) so I created a little temple instead.
Yeah, i need to rewatch it again. Last time i saw it i was 9, i think. Quite confusing, to say at least (especially when you are at that age....) Anyway, i'm thinking about creating a light SV ship to quickly scout planets and maybe some others for different tasks, like attacking enemy bases or just some multipurpose SV for my explorer ships. But on the other hand the Workshop already has so many decent and quite good designs...
Good point. I love creating new planets myself . Now I do hope they add this procedurally generated star systems that some games are doing after they finished with the current system . The only thing I would love to see is the devs take Yaml file and make it into a gui interface in the start menu. So players can create new planets from the start menu.
Wow that's a theatrical colorful dude! XD I can imagine it being like a Flying Dance Club! Or Casino...
I found this what looks like a trading station or just a large base that has a trading area. It had a regular alien core and when I got inside the turrets started shooting at me. SO I took it over. lol It's pretty EPIC and has four landing pads for SVs. Oh well its mines now .lol
I ended up tinkering with the video game castle a little more. I converted one of the rooms in the small tower to a throne room and in the process discovered a minor structural error which has now been corrected. Work on the CV Lightning refit is progressing. After a lot of tinkering I've mostly finished the exterior structural work on the back half of the ship and I'm starting to tinker with the front half. Before: After: Before and after shots of the ships's nose: Before: After: I'm slowly working my way back towards the middle of the ship and gutting the interior as I go. And the finished exterior. It's mostly d0ne aside from cosmetic work. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I've been roughing out the interior but it's slow going.
