I decided to raid a drone base and used my hv for a distraction. lol At least I got inside the base and completed my mission. lol I had to rebuild my hv and made some design changes. I have everything done but replacing 3 drills that i need a power coil for but other than that I think my new HV turned out pretty good.
Heh, no, a while before that one As I'm in SP, I have the luxury to save a lot in case things go wrong. Fortunately though my natural caution means I rarely need to reload, though this has led to very boxy designs on my part lol. Not able to play much currently....but I will be back! Scoob.
I've been experimenting with different paint and texture combinations on my space station. I haven't quite got it all worked out yet but I managed to decide on a few things. Still trying to figure out how I want to paint/texture the floors for the raised walkway areas and plazas and maybe add a little city type greeble to clutter up the street levels a little more. This is where some new textures would be reeeeeally helpful. What I had before was ok but it was a little plain. I'm trying to add to the complexity without adding too greatly to the device count so I'm figuring out ways to better integrate different textures. I did remove a lot of the plant deco and I'm making good use of the new emissive light texture.
Yeah nice, go ahead. Took me like a comfortable hour to figure the design out, so I'm glad if you like it. =)
I discovered I had inadvertently overwritten a blueprint -.- At least I had a version of it in the creative savegame, but I spent way too much time removing failed attempts at stuff from around the part I needed. At least the HappyFun Mobile is progressing nicely if a bit slowly. This is the repair station / (fake) fuel pump. Still unsure if I'll keep actual working tanks for it or I'll go for decos I still need to find something to fill that part of the hangar with however. This is medical. It's a bit less sparse than it looks if you're staying on the ground. (and I tried to keep straight corridors with easy access, you know, just in case I need to be healed in a hurry) The front navigation room. I'll likely build something more protected elsewhere later, but it's nice to have somewhere to look outside when you're cruising. And this is the suspended tunnel that leads to said room. (I still need to build a roof over the whole section) I wanted to do something different than a square, but it's not like we have a ton of shapes for glass
I have tried a couple underground bases. I will build another when the clipping / terrain modeling is fixed. Drives me crazy approaching and the mountain is still there until you get close. I know I should seek help Nice work, great base.
2x1 half round windows would be great for passageways. Mine are all square, looks dumb but as you said, not much choice.
I know how this feels. Sadly, we currently can't trust the game to park the damn Item Highlight onto the last highlighted Item every time without fail, so it's savvy to adopt the Practice of ALWAYS directly Clicking on what ya wanna Overwrite before ya do the BP Overwrite for stuff like replacing a BP with a new Revision of that BP. Take no chances. For the Topic: Nearing the end of my current "Procrastination Break", & thinking of doing another tackle on my CV Build. I last left off on it working on its Butt + Rear part of its "Tyrax-sized Hangar". (Made necessary by the inability to have 2 Repair Bays in a CV at once, thus forcing need for SVs & HVs to have to share one, so have to make it all one Hangar to accommodate that. :/ )
I always seem to do my best work when I haven't gotten much sleep. Case in point I got 4 hours last night so today I've been working like a mad man on my space station and I've gotten a lot done. Painted and textured a whole bunch of the city levels and reworked some things for the sake of consistency. Redid the interior of the nightclub. Now I'm redoing the interiors for the residential rooms. Pain in the arse but the new layout I came up with works much better. Had a couple empty spots on the upper levels I didn't know what to do with before. I made one a storage locker area and the other is a small cafe now. I also came up with a texture scheme for the outer corridors and a preliminary one for the ducts. This would go a lot faster if the symmetry tool was working correctly. Still, I can use it for most things. Seeing that they're working on adding functionality to the symmetry tool and they aren't going to wait for 7.0 to release it was a very pleasant surprise. Now if we can just get a couple dozen new textures I'll be a very happy camper.
CV is getting some shape. It's asymmetrical design as can be seen - somehow I've gotten into liking them. Made of 'modules' - so multiple sections slapped together onto a 'spine', forming a whole ship. From front to back - command & control, living quarters, science quarters and engineering quarters (which has already been moved to the right so that it aligns better with the rest of the ship). It will have couple surveyor vessels - one that I'm thinking is a big SV that's docked onto the CV so that its basically part of the ship when it's docked. Kinda like the Serenity's shuttle from Firefly.
I feel like somethinig better could be done with the big delta wings. Maybe instead of a straight vertical edge, use a 1x2 slope to give it a slight forward contour? Not sure, they just feel off to me somehow.
@Kieve You mean the whole shape or just make them more streamlined? They will probably have some pods and antenna details in the end.
Liked very much the new bottom mesh for BA/CV blocks, at least now I can see it without changing block shape to the thin cylinder every time I'm reaching the point where I can start to actually build walls on my HappyFun Mobile... and I realized how following a theme leaves extremely awkward empty sections. So I've gone nuts with gantries everywhere, with no handrails whatsoever (I'm following the Sith OSHA guidelines there) Pretty sure I'll fall to my death sometimes. Oh, and I was playing around with the new emissive texture while dismantling my first attempt at a repair station, and for some reason I ended up with a disco ball. So I repurposed the place with some cushions and a Milk-plus dispenser. I'll probably tear apart the area immediately upwards, and replace it with some living quarters. Though job, but I'm a completely serious person who works diligently on a goal, it's not like I'm kidding around placing secret passages everywhere or stuff like that.
Instead of "Delta," perhaps something more "Trapezoidal," though keeping the longer trailing edge from the delta. Or you could go the other direction and give them a bit of a forward sweep, I suppose. It depends on what look you're going for, just saying the reversed-delta looks off to me.
