RCS rotation is problematic? Really? I've done that multiple times in my DroneHunters : they are tipped (is this the right word? 90° turn down)
haha yeah you're right, in my actual game from Akua on, playing on HARD with MAX spawning My rate (kills : deaths) is now 1825 : 9 (but as I started at Akua I didn't know much about that game)
I've heard of people having problems after rotating RCS, but never been able to find out for sure if it really does bug anything out or not... so I just don't dare take the chance. I especially dunno if pointing the RCS's top & bottom forwards/backwards or left/right could have any adverse effects. Plausible. I just plain don't dare take the chance, as buggy as this game is. Don't want things screwing up while traipsing around the likes of Aestus or Aitis do ya?
I've done terrible things to my RCS blocks (rotating them until they really didn't know which way was up) and it's never made a difference. Which makes sense anyway, given that you get the same torque about all three axes.
I'm so lazy that I never even thought about it. The RCS is 1 x 1 x 1 so I just click when it's in place.
Most of the time our RCS is on show, so they get rotated every which way. doesn't make an iota of difference as far as I can see.
RCS orientation doesn't matter anymore(Alpha v5.0 I believe). I have one vessel with 3 different orientations and it didn't change the numbers. Keeping them close to the center line of your ship still seems to help a little though. @rucky Love the Drone Hunter 5. Seems a bit overloaded with engines, but wow. @binhthuy71 Wow, haven't launched into space for a long time. Sometimes I still get launched a few Kms away when switching out of godmode in creative.
http://empyriononline.com/threads/global-gameplay-bug-reports-alpha-6-7-x.12795/page-8#post-159496 is what I've done today
Continuing to work on the new ship, added hydroponics today. Since the XL thrusters have only 650 HP and are a great big target, I am building this as a civilian ship. I have a rough draft for the cockpit/bridge/living quarters, hanger, and hydroponics built. Now to make a 4th section for the fuel tanks and warp core. Side note, the thrust-star core is giving the ship WAY more thrust than it needs. I wish there was a way we could throttle the engines and conserve fuel.
Well, why not use smaller thrusters, at least for the side thrusters? That and keeping auto-brake off as much as possible ought to help.
So, I have been thinking about doing something with JMC's horizon ships, but I keep spawning them in creative and then destroying them... there is.... something.... there, just not sure what yet. In the mean time, I am about the add to @Neal 's most impressive fleet: Working out the dimensions... and I think the bridge is too far forward... still. Should be sweet. The name I am kicking around is the OSC Tempest.... I dunno, might change that too - or leave it up to the head of the Navy. Its funny, earlier today I commented to Kieve on steam chat, "Building Neal ships is hard." You are now your own adjective Neal.
I tried something similar, but it does not look nice.....to much space between some Symbols, some are too far down or to far up..... Can we look into your alphabet, because iam kinda lazy If not, it is okay too.....so i have to think and work harder next time
Looking great so far, and I agree with you on the Horizon. Only thing I don't like is the long beard on the nose, because I had to make a custom landing pad when I first tried the shell last year. I wouldn't mind a look at his alphabet as well.
He could use Large Thrusters, group them by six-axis sets and assign those to switches. Come to think of it, I'll set that up on my next SV.
Wow that ship looks nice, really nice! I like the strout structure between the side windows, looks like a little Battlestar influence. I know, getting the proportions right is what i'm struggeling myself right now. I think that's the 5th try to get it the right size, lol. Either they get a little bit too small or the interior becomes way too big. I hope i get it right this time. I don't know if this one will have any use in Survial gameplay. I just love sculpturing the shapes of those ships. Maybe in a couple of years there will be actual use for big exploer type ships like this, when we have a whole galaxy to explore.
HMMMMMMMM.... Nacelles.... to short...? I am going to go with yes. Quite a bit yes. Will make adjustments.
Yup, this is much better: Here is the million doller question I am debating with myself; do I keep them as two solid? Or four separate? My original plan was was two solid nacelles.... buuuuuutttt it would work either way? Dang it. Tough decision.
