Yeah, but you have to fit that in *and* the donut when they add inter-systems drives. I'm looking at my engine room, and much profanity is being uttered. Much Profanity. Profanity! Oh well.
Wow, nice work!! I'm looking forward to trying them out. Having some warp capability on SVs is quite something! I haven't been able to play much at all lately, but I'm so excited about the 7.0 Experimental phase started! I was looking forward to an experimental game session last night, but I ran into a snag with the server. I have two servers with GTXGaming and really enjoy their performance and service, but they have some protections in place that hinder my admin actions at times. For instance, I can only retrieve savegame files via FTP. Last night I installed the experimental update on our Creative mode server, and uploaded my dedicated.yaml via FTP. The upload went fine, but then the server refused to run. I was stumped for awhile but it must've been a protection against accidentally switching a Creative server to run a new Survival mode game. I suppose someone could potentially do that by accident... but I don't think a new server admin would muck around to set up a Creative server in the first place. Anyhow, I put in a Support Ticket and the whole thing was sorted out before bedtime! The support service with them is so fast. Today I'm going to redecorate a few of my custom Wreckage shelters. I'd like to set up a hybrid multiplayer scenario for us--I like having an admin cored shelter because the Personal Container system is genius, in my opinion. Hopefully I can get that custom element set up for a game session this evening!
Thanks to these new 7.0 textures I finally feel like I'm building a old CV warship that has seen a lot of battles. These textures are amazing!! I am the only one who thinks the new Warp drive looks exactly like the warp drive from Star Trek Enterprise ?
Thanks... It's these new textures, they make building something cool a lot easier. All the stuff they've added in 7.0 will make building anything so much easier and faster.
Ah, that's allright. I thought that this new model was a relacement for the donut. They are pretty similar indeed.
uhm guys, I'm not sure if I got that right there... but if I'm not totally wrong... WE WILL NOT GET ANY MORE TEXTURES (for steel blocks) ANY TIME SOON ======================================================== Still I think we've got alot this update, but... to know, it's ALL we get, no more in the next future... has taken the wind out of my sails a bit... edit: Link to conversation: A7.0 Experimental - FAQ & Feedback: Concrete Textures
Well the positive is they said "anytime soon" but looking at the Steel blocks right now, can you think any other design that they could add to steel blocks at this point? I can't think of any myself. Maybe the next step should be opening the texture up to modding where palyers can add their own textures?
I hope that's coming or at least give us the illusion of warp speed. Maybe a screen with our ship passing a bunch of stars really fast for a couple of seconds ?
I'm the one mentioning "anytime soon"... because I think - with modding or whatever else - Elion needs to increase the size... but read was @Hummel-o-War wrote: one could gather from this, there won't be any increasements ever, because it's too difficult. We're at 62 in metal (when I look at the pictures provided). And yes, I do imagine a few more tech style materials: Computer consoles (not only devices), f.e. just look at the computer console textures from 7 days to die... there are more out there Again, I'm not criticizing or such, these new textures and the 3D effect is superb! Only... we won't get more....
Or they could replace some of the older or less popular textures with new ones. It may be possible to offer different palettes of textures in the setup screen. If we get access to the texture resources then energetic modders would likely be able to replace any or all of them. Wooden ships, wrought iron POIs, SVs made of translucent bricks...
I guess if that is the technically limit. I think Metal should have a majority of the slots not share it because we use metal the most but I agree I'm always going to want more textures but maybe modding has to be the next step. I think we should be able to add our own textures and share it with everyone.
not sure if you really understood (or I didn't, could be too ;-) Metal already has MAX slots occupied == 62. other Materials have a max of 62 too, and because some textures are soo cool, they go duplicated for use with even these other Materials, but taking away their slots. ACTUAL: you can NOT add another texture to Metal group, besides you override one existing; so modding too can only override, not add!
Ok I understand. What I am saying is, maybe the devs could get rid of some of the duplicates textures for other materials and use those free slots for new metal textures. If that is possible. I think it would be cool if we could add and remove textures ourselves. Whenever we wanted to add a new texture we could remove a texture were not using and replace it with a new one.
these are for the other materials ;-) of course you can remove doubled textures, but then these textures were not possible anymore on that other material. Metal can choose only from it's own texture atlas, and it's size is 62. (why 62 and not 64 as a power of 2 (or 8), I don't know) yes, that would be the way. But not very mod friendly.. you can't really use other blueprints then, or possibly have to re-texture parts..
Hold up everyone. I know this is a big new release, and I do loves me a good tangent every once in a while, but lets make sure to keep this thread on track.
Page 2, Row 4, Column 8: Still unoccupied. Additionally, 2:2,5 wasn't exactly impressing anyone when they introduced it, and wouldn't be missed if it were replaced with something less... cluttered. So that's at least two slots still up for debate.
