TBH, i think they'll rework FTL drive anyway in the future.
I can imagine they replace the current Jump drive with a interplanetary drive (go fast from one planet to another, within the same star system) and add a "true" ftl drive for interstellar travel. SV will keep the ability to travel within a star system, but i doubt they will be able to have the range to reach the next Star, like a CV will do.
(at least thats what i hope.)

I can't wait for them to rework the drive. If they are going to change it from a Warp drive to a Jump drive . I would love for them to add a Stargate like Jump Window where the ship opens the jump window up first then jumps. I hope they keep the WARP drive theme and give us some Star trek Warp animation .

    I made a new device : it's a wateroxydrogenstructor...

    devices.png

How to make a nice vivid statue : put a base starter in the path of NPCs, surround them with blocks so they have to climb on them, then remove the base core. Very realistic piece of deco, will not move an inch. Cannot be painted.

AHHHH Fractalite my friend! You sir are like that bedragled little puppy that one finds on the street on a cold, rainy day and reluctantly takes home "for the night" and suddenly it 4 years later and you can't imagine life without him.
    Did someone say "challenge"?
Did someone say "function & form"?
    Did someone say "SEXY ASYM"?

I missed this challenge over my summer away from the game and forums. I was prowling around in the workshop earlier this evening and found a link to this post. Not a FORMAL challenge, but a challenge nonetheless! Well, I had a few spare parts kicking around, and figured I give it a go.
So, THIS is what I did in Empyrion today: I call it the "Broke-Back Waddle Hopper" but since I owe a good friend a favor in the ship naming department, I suppose I should christen it something less eccentric. I've not quite finished painting/texturing, and I still to need to add some circuits and set up the CP properly, but here's a sneak peak, and for better or worse, the pathetic thing will be on the workshop in a few days for folks who are interested. It comes in at a hair under 1300 iron ingots, sports twin generators, FOUR each of O2 and Fuel tanks, and meets all the rest of the quallies for this challenge. Ladies and Gentlemen, without further ado, I give you THE HARLIQUIN!

Wait... where's the skimpy T-shirt, pony tails, and overdone makeup??

Hmmm... maybe not that HarleyQuinn after all. Well, the twin gens are a handful at least.

    Yay!
With the latest Space weapon nerf coming down at us in Alpha 7.0 these two are at the MAXIMUM weapons range, 660meters (heck, that's one ship length of the Enterprise -D.)

That's an interesting set of shapes. Not sure how I feel about the goose-neck cockpit, but she's definitely got a certain style. And cheap! 1300 for something that roomy?
...Right, block formulas changed again. Just checked the Soleil (which was 2500-ish) and she's down to just over 1k. So that explains some things. Not to be a party-pooper though, it's a neat design! Just that if I'm being honest, I think Fandango had the more cohesive style. Now that was a sexy asym!

Also, you reminded me I still have to make good on that "half-block CV" challenge from last month.

Hehe... how do you feel about trying to tackle that one, Ranger? @Fractalite seems to think it can't be done - but I suspect he's just nettling me so I'll actually work on it...

    Agreed.
I just hope they will introduce some CV/BA only weapons (space) soon, which are more useful.
If not, then i really hope this is not the start of a trend to make CVs completely pointless (to me) and degrade them to pure transporters for SVs.

Things start to vanish (in space) at a distance of 2,5 km (maybe a bit more).
660 meters is a bit short compared to that, don't you think?
