Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the "H-Thing." I definitely had this thread in mind when designing it, and while it ended up less asymmetric than I originally planned, I think it still more than qualifies. Internal systems are particularly different, with all of the "engineering"and weapons stuff in the port "pod" and all of the crew and storage stuff on the starboard side. It was designed as a general utility SV, with lots of storage (6 large cargo boxes, 3 fridges), all of the usual devices, seating for three, and even a "bed" that could be replaced with more storage space. It's particularly good for autominer runs, as you can fly right up to them and collect your ore without leaving the oxygenated center section of the ship. It's also quite decent at knocking out POIs, though I don't recommend sitting in front of a Xenu Fortress's full broadside in it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1181000398
Here is my first SV, I hope you guys like it! Detailed description in workshop. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1193806441 A special thanks to Kieve, McFluffFace and Jenniphurr. And a thanks to Fractalite for having such a cool thread! Spoiler: Pic Spoiler: Pic Spoiler: Specs/Resources
I finally did it!!! A Asymm HV! (Perfect Weight Distribution not included. ) Spoiler: Tyrax Asymm "Demolition": Front View: I tried to get it to sit better, then got too lazy for it & said "Screw it. Maybe it's befitting for off-kilter behavior like Asymmetry to show itself in this off-kilter manner." Right View: Recommended Crew Compliment for use: 3. Recommended Attitude Score for the job: 11. Rear View: Now THIS is a butt that can be justified to really stare at... the ludicrosity of. Left View: Fun fact: This side is the one with the Fridge in it, so Sadistic Bosses may well be tempted to station the fatter Multiturret Gunner in the opposite side station just to make them have to walk farther to get to & from the Fridge. Top View: Yes, I just HAVE to stick my damn Name onto my stuff as usual... just can't seem to help myself. Bottom View: Maybe someday there will be better options for being able to Screenie & show off HV Bottoms... Stats Screen: Not bawss at movement, but it's a Civilian Vehicle, not Military Grade. Plus not like Trees, Bases, or Dead Vehicles getting Demolitioned are ever really moving targets anyway. Factory Spawn Resource Cost: Good luck with the obtaining the Erestrum & Zascosium for the job. If ya do, may not be a bad idea to use this puppy to Nom stuff that uses those Materials every chance ya get so ya can grow the Fleet Size.
Not sure why, but I kinda like the direction your going with the Demolition. Been awhile since I've launched Empyrion (on an Ark and Destiny bender lately), but when I do I'd like to download the blueprints for this off the Workshop, and tinker with it a bit. I had a similar albeit much heavier main battle tank design with the cockpit off center, and the main gun caddy-corner towards the back from it. Thing drove like a brick, but I could sustain multiple hits from Alien plasma turrets when I laid siege to bases. The Demolition kinda gives me the idea for a lighter, possibly more maneuverable variant of that idea. Would just need to balance engine, and weight placement more carefully.
It was suggested that I share on of my blueprints here. Most of my stuff is generally symmetrical, but sometimes the constraints of the purpose require something asymmetrical. In this case, I wanted my SV blueprint to fit in the space of just 2 BA blocks. To fit four gatling guns, I chose to put the cockpit off to one side. But if I am sharing the SV here, I might as share the original HV as well. Hawk Talon http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1285635781 Personally, I find a SV harder to control in cramped hallways inside a POI. But there are times it is clearly superior to the equivalent HV. For example, when I flew the Hawk Talon into one of the docking platforms. A place up too high for my Mini Nymph HV to enter on its own. Mini Nymph http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1167117799
Nice Also, nice. Never be afraid! Keep going! This is also very clever - this would make a good "POI submersible" similar to another design I saw @binhthuy71 do once. Oh Tac, you are hilarious. That is huge, and well done.
Alright, I feel like I should finally post all of my asymmetrical vessels I've made so far here. I have 2 SV's, one CV and 2 HV's. Here you can see all of them except for one is one big shot. This is the T4 Scimitar, a heavy utility fighter inspired by the B-Wing from Star Wars. I use this as my main SV for doing nearly anything, it's quite agile and really useful to have. Wether you're raiding POI's, ferrying players, exploring new planets, this ship can do it all! It also has wings that retract for landing, which is just for looks. Workshop link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1205489942 This is my first asymmetrical HV, I needed a robust utility HV that had some passenger seats, and this is what I came up with. It's got everything a LVL 3 HV can have, and can be outfitted with 5 turrets. There also is a MKII version with those installed, it looks quite a lot more intimidating with turrets. Workshop links: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1289215646 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1289217737 This is the Albatros, the Scimitar's predecessor. Apart from passenger seats the Scimitar is an improvement in nearly every way. Still, this is my first asymmetrical ship, inspired by this thread. Workshop link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1173228591 This ship isn't really that asymmetric, but I thought it was worth putting here anyway. I present to you: The T4 Linerunner. It's basically what I use for a mobile base. It's a freighter/carrier hybrid, with a lot of cargoboxes and landing pads. Inside it has all features you'd need in a base, including a fully equipped med bay and 18 growing plots. The way I designed this ship was to look like the whole interior sections are large containers, connected to a large hauler. I also have a version that comes without these "containers". Workshop links: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1289205782 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1196335030 I think we're nearly done here, hang on. This is the last one, and least interesting. It's a cargo HV, intended to increase the cargo capacity of your CV's. Really not that interesting. Here's a link anyway: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1289188363 And here are some shots of all my asymmetrical ships docked to one another: I hope you like these.
Hello! I am presenting you G-1, a small vessel for Lv7 with warp capability. This is not combat ship, I made it for jumping from planet to planet. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1294307283
Been busy updating my first attempt of a (for me) large SV. If you want to inspect it upclose: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1289249483
Cool ship! Interesting ship. I am, generally speaking, always pro-floaty bits so I am happy about this. Nicely done.
Would i be ok to post my actuall work in progress SV here? Its going to be a a-sym design and should work as an dropship for HV->SV docking in 8.0 I would plan to make a series of posts with the newest buildprocess therefor
Well, I sure hope we get HV -> SV docking in A8, but I still seriously doubt it... In any case - I recommend this thread for finished vessel, but please share your progress here: https://empyriononline.com/threads/what-did-you-do-in-empyrion-today.2826/
Built this baby for the ZeroG challenge, and few people mentioned that I should post it here as well: If anyone wants to play around with it, you can find it in the workshop here: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1307829567
It's been suggested that I share my Boomerang here. I made it for the ZeroG fighter challenge, and it's cross-posted over there. Asymmetry is pretty much limited to the cockpit/weapon-pod and the layout of the user equipment and accessible tanks. So, here's probably the most symmetrically-shaped but functionally-asymmetrical ship in this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1308985028
