The 'porters are limited 1:1- so you could have a group of 6 on planet that each connected to one of 6 orbital locations. So, not an elevator, but a transfer hub
And Jenny's loaded up and heading out... (Not @Jenniphurr ... the ship's named after the seed: 8675309
@Kieve Your bases Basalt and Andesite look really good, modern and like a design house. Wow! @ion_storm these articacts could be anything.... Maybe corrupted textures in gamecache or if you get them in other games too, it would be a possible sign of malfunctioning RAM... You could try to verify your game localy in steam. @The Tactician[ Λ ] the Baikal is a great design you have there, nicely done! @Brimstone I feel with you, about the loss of your base. I wonder if offline protecion, ähm... Landclaim device, could help to protect a base against drones while underway. The modular design cry's to get expanded and developed further. @binhthuy71 Thank you, and great wording: I have to remember it "symmetrical asymmetry". Nice @Sephrajin Thats the housing for the main front thrusters and up to 6 weapons, couldnt do much there. I believe the irritating part is the roundish red suspension after it. It irritates me a litle, too. Think i will give it another pass....
There is actualy a thread for that too: https://empyriononline.com/threads/share-your-a-symmetrical-vessel-designs.7587/
Have been playing on and off the past week and mostly finishing up builds, I started a new game over the weekend but really only to test the new ships and bases within a normal game environment. Playing on A8 since it's reasonably stable by now. Is this on the unstable branch? because I think this could be an A8 issue, on the stable branch base attack drones only spawn once you get close to your base, they spawn right on top of your base but your base turrets still take them out as soon as they spawn (this was my experience on A7). They still get a few shots in and a hunt for damaged blocks ensues afterwards but, it's better than coming back to an obliterated base at least. I'm now a bit hesitant to go check up on my off-(home)world mining base, It will be quite a bummer if I get there to find it in ruins and my sathium storage gone, I need to collect 160000 of the stuff.
Yes I'm in 8, but the bug's been around for a while. Sometimes it happens as you describe- but when it happens, the drones are capable of "shooting" blocks that should be hidden by terrain. The cores, ammo boxes, and capacitors for the cannon pods are all underground, and were gone on both pods; the surface blocks virtually untouched. The first screenshot was taken immediately before hitting orbit; we broke for a couple hours, came back, disassembled 9 junk ships, then came back down directly over my base. There were no drones around, either live or dead, only the damage to my stuff. In the future, I'll use my escape pod for storage with maybe an HV until I can build an SV. If I do a base, it'll be orbital from now on
I've been working on customizing my MP scenario. I'm really thrilled about the ability to have more than one moon orbiting a planet! I made a solar system configuration to generate a unique system to explore. That way exploration will be more exciting for players if they're also playing the Default Random scenario. Here's a scene that really inspired me. A temperate moon orbiting a temperate planet--it's the ideal location for our faction to relocate our HQ when we're able to build CVs and can transport vessels to our new home world. I have modified the moons to have fewer POIs than the planet type they resemble, and the temperate moon does not have zascosium or erestrum deposits. I really want an icy (snow) moon to orbit the snow planet, but I don't want it to have as much water as the planet. That's one of my projects today. This is the sectors map visible at the start of the game in the custom scenario. I love how the starter planet looks like it's pulled close to the neighbouring giant planet during part of its journey around the sun. It's incredible to have the opportunity to explore so much with only a warp capable SV! I created this star system to be a precious and rare jewel of the Andromeda galaxy. The abundance of planets and moons with life--and reasonably comfortable environments) makes it an enticing system for the Zirax Empire to lay claim to. I imagine they are still in the early phase of their colonization of the system, and have only begun installing military outposts throughout the system.
@Starwing6 my god yes, thats wonderful! Can't wait to explore your system. And the idea with more SV reachable planets is great, so the warpcapable SV's will get more use Btw, have you tried to make the starterplanet a class 5? When i messed with the planettemplate Empyrion only throught errors... on "Rigger": - changed the suspension as mentioned - added the weaponpod - added starter weapons & ammobox - worked a bit on cargobay
That sounds pretty bad, maybe I'll turn off drone attacks for the time being to spare any possible frustration for myself as well (if it's not too late already!). @Starwing6 That looks pretty awesome indeed! Nice to see what's possible with custom scenarios
@Na_Palm no, I haven't changed any size settings for the starter planet. All the planet sizes are determined by the seed, except for the one that can support several moons--I think it should always be a size 5 planet, to make it more believable that it captured the moons because it's so large. I'm not sure if the planet positions (and distances) are the same for other seeds than the one we're using. I continue to update playfields when the default ones are updated, but I'll publish this scenario when 8.0 goes to the public branch. That'll give me time to build a few small POIs as well.
so @rucky game me a idea, "build a SV for beginner players to get off world fast and go places". Thus the AEGIS EVAC POD was made! Spoiler: image
Certain of the solar panels are, actually. This is why I use them for the roof of my Solar Cabin (saves on materials).
Oh... well i'll be buggered... it appears I didn't examine each of the sub types of them with enough attention after all...
Now they are. They weren't before to clarify. It came up when I was making the Shack, Mk. x series. Now that they can be airtight I will be reworking the Shacks and Huts.
After trying out a new survival start last night, I'm reconsidering my decision to turn Basalt fully concrete. I had no issue collecting the ores needed, but the stone dust count was a bit too excessive. @Na_Palm Thank you! I've always liked designing "modern"-looking homes, and EGS is really flexible in what I can do with them. Would love a wider variety of deco though. On a related note, I too am loving the Rigger's design. I've been struggling for a few days now to come up with a "mobile HQ" HV to make use of the new radar system, and I'm seriously considering taking some inspirational cues from yours. The central platform in particular would be very handy! ...also needs some turrets to keep all the hostile wildlife at bay. YEESH.
Is that true? I've had notifications of my base being attacked while I was away mining, only to return finding dead drones (if I got back soon enough) and a few damaged blocks. I assumed that meant my turrets repelled the alien onslaught. FYI, I'm still playing 7.6 SP Survival.
Well, I'm not so sure anymore. Fecal matter just got weird ... So, I've both experienced and heard of drones attacking and damaging, even coring bases while players are away, but the level of "destruction" I saw last night was beyond anything I'd seen... You can see the before and after images in the earlier posts... I assumed the drones didn't get killed and just "wandered" off after the base was destroyed So last night, I was working on spawning Jenny and loading the salvage even after the kid went to bed. I hit orbit so there'd be no repeats, intending to go back for him next play session... and so today, when I was landing while he spawned, I see this: It's all of the missing blocks from last night, including the fridge still powered by the formerly "missing" capacitor. Chunks were "taken" out of each of the four BA modules, but not chunks lined up in any meaningful way I can tell... so all I actually wound up losing was a fridge full of harvested crops. Too bad biofuel isn't still made from spoiled food, I'd actually have some use for the 500+ I have now... ...scratchin' my head....
