I find I'm really liking modular base builds... quite flexible, and winds up increasing the number of devices powered by panels. There are actually 4 bases in this playthrough (another cannon pod offscreen to the lower left), which gives me the possibility of 60 panels- and I can pick and choose what set powers new additions like the furnace (thank you, Talon villagers) OK... off to raid the orbital junkyard...
Honestly, I really don't like using the underside of a solar panel as the ceiling... just couldn't be helped in this case, would've required too much alteration to the original design (and I needed some panels on top because a few small ones on the right side are insufficient for the needs of a lvl10 base, IMO)
Got rid of the old forcefield thanks to @LiftPizzas, and the Titan begins to look like something... Also learned how to drain swamps...

After six or seven weeks of total chaos in work i finally found time to look into Alpha 8. I have to say that the changes from A 7.6 are really good looking. The bigger planets are wonderful. With a bit polishing here and there (spiders, the missing planets,...) i would think its almost ready to get A8 out of experimental. on Topic: last sunday, yesterday and today i reworked my SV "Rigger" and rebuild it completly, without the constrains of a competition. It got ample space and detail now, so it is much more like i first envisioned it. Tomorow i will add an weaponpod, finish the backside and have to change some inertia.
That's a unique and appealing look. Kudos on fitting all of the disparate shapes into an organic whole. The symmetrical asymmetry is particularly eye catching.

By not leaving it on when not in use... The furnace was attached to one of the cannon pods, which was 100% charged and has an idle draw of 11Kw. That will run the furnace for an hour on its own, but when I was smelting, I added more panels to that grid- so it was recharging at 1.5Mw -- However, I'm done with planetary bases. It looked and worked very well until I came back from the orbital junkyard a couple hours later to find another scrapyard where my base used to be... because the frakking turrets won't fire if you're not around but the drones have no limits... This, Eleon, is why so many players don't want to get locked down into a fixed base.... I can't even begin to say how much stuff was sorted out in that row of 16 outside crates... which now total 4. Lost a packed fridge and food processor too. I think my youngest learned a few dozen new words he probably shouldn't repeat....
wait,wait,wait, so your base guns dont fire unless your there? if thats the case i wont be playing survival till they change that, thats down right bullshit and hope to the gods thats just a bug!
so i was wondering is it possible to make a space elevator, not in the sense of how space engineers did it the real way but since planets and orbits are playfields was thinking of using a different method, for example; teleporters: ya sure the whole point of a space elevator is irreverent do to this, but it make a good explanation and good eye candy to have a adm building on servers as a space elevator to a orbiting space station, a while back i thought about making one but idk if anyone would even be interested in having one to begin with, mind you the build wouldent be a player base but a adm building so idk if its worth getting into, what you guys think?
The bug's been there for a long time... it's not new to 8 by a long shot... No... we tried, though. We were able to stack base sections consisting of elevator blocks right up to the orbit interface... you could pop into orbit by jetting up from the top, but then you were stuck with only jetpack from there- can't connect any further
ive never had this base bug with the guns at least on the SBS server in witch i play on, and far as the orbital elevator, it wouldent have the "elevator" part on it but a teleporter center ment just to go in orbit from more then 1 teleporter say 6 go from the planet and bring you in orbit, would that work?
