A couple friends of mine used to enjoy digging out mountain side bases, was always impressed with their work. Moutain bases are cool ! I want to see someone carve into a mountain on an island on a water planet, so it would be in the liking of the scaramanger hideout from the movie "the man with the golden gun" or resemble the tracy island hideout mansion from thunderbirds orginal show XD
Cruise Liner Caribbean Princess. Finished off the evening yesterday by furnishing that 1 big empty white room at the front top deck. It now contains a medical bay in the corner and seating waiting/viewing area. Also setup a bunch more lighting sensors, added some pool lights. Setup the control panel neat and tidy, arranged some switches on the bridge to control vessel lighting and boarding ramps. A CP master switch to toggle power to all fridge and constructor. I have an idea for a random game scenario called pirates of the caribbean. 1 group is the crew of the slow moving liner. 1 group are the pirates who attack in small unarmed boats with the intent on boarding and capturing the ship simply by eliminating all the crew with standard assault rifles issued to all players. Who here would be game to try this random game scenario should I ever host it ? It can be played 2 rounds so each team plays each role. Should take no more than an hour I guess.. I think it could be a lot of fun
Hmmm, I see. What I did to have hv access and a more detailed lower half of my ships was this: Maybe just adding one more ramp gives you the space you need to make it look great as opposed to ok.
I spent a good oh, two hours first scouting further around my little base collective in SP, then clearing the abandoned factory. What a god awful chore it is. It's a despicable bit of bad design that should be taken out of the game. See, the abandoned mine is good: Reasonable amounts of opponents, secret passages, etc. Not here! Forces you to face two ship turrets. Swarms of the bullet sponges that are the alien scorpion. Invisible spawners *that don't obey patterns*. Going to get my HV to core every instance of this then loot it, deconstruct it, and set fire to the holes. But I'm into hour two of six that I need to get my Paradigm city factoried!
Greetings so.... this will be a new battleship that will be completed in my workshop... I just had to change the shape of the hull
Today I overhauled one of my older designs, the T4-Phantom. I improved a lot of things, like design, performance, exposed thrusters, and signals. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1302391000 I'm really happy with how it turned out, it's a great little transport with a surprisingly large people and cargo capacity.
I have returned after a somewhat lengthy (for me) absence. Life had become rather adversarial recently: Sewer backed up into kitchen. Death in family (it was her time). Car wreck (still drivable, not as pretty any more). Nerve damage to arm (not related to above, better now). I'm well aware that many people ( possibly some reading this) have far worse problems to deal with. Just saying these have been mine recently. Ordinarily, I would escape to EGS to take my mind off these setbacks as I have for the past 30 months. However, since A8.0, I find little pleasure anymore. Being forced to start over from the very beginning did not (and does not) sit well with me. The game changes, while visually stunning, left the gameplay more annoying than challenging. The game no longer calls to me as it once did. It used to be impossible to get within 10 feet of the computer without sitting down to play for an hour or more. Now I find myself watching episodes of "Barney Miller", "MASH" and assorted other reruns. AAARRGGHH!!!! Today, however, once the game finally loaded, I noticed my savegames were no longer marked in RED. I thought "ALL RIGHT. HERE WE GO! NO! while the game would loaded, I could not power up ANYTHING! Tanks were full and the power switch was ON. Nothing. To add insult to injury, my custom keyboard mapping had been lost.....AGAIN! Maybe the game is better than it was, I don't know. I DO know that I enjoyed it a helluva lot more than I do now. Maybe I will get to that "I can't keep away from it" place again. I hope so. For now, there's a "Love Boat" rerun to watch. OOHHBOY?
Nexus Update: So I turned one of the last areas on the station into a museum. Spoiler The other....well, we seem to be having technical difficulties. Pity I don't have any alien xenomorph npcs or human captive type npcs I can put in this area. Not sure I'll keep it because of the Xeno substrate. I don't want to annoy people by adding some hard to get material for what is an out of the way piece of fluff.
Let's be honest, the station has a resource count of over 450,000 iron alone, takes close to two and a half days (55hrs) to construct, and that's before your overhaul (which looks great, btw). Something tells me a handful of Xeno is not going to be the deciding factor here...
I had a rather intense headache throughout yesterday so did nothing what so ever on the cruise liner. Last night i made a quick attempt of building a wooden cabin boat but my head threw me off that too. This morning I feel better and came up with another idea. I have started to release a series of blank hv boat hull templates for workshop which people can download and turn into a boat if they like. I think most of the hard work is building a hull itself that looks the part. Here is my first template (hull 1), you may take it build it into your own boat design then upload as your own work, if you want creator name just copy the hull., if you copy it by hand you will learn a lot about building with angled blocks I can assure you. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1449230738 The hull has been given a flat block top, you can remove this and extend the hull upwards width ways or length ways to suit your size requirements.
The wooden cabin boat attempt I made last night whilst suffering major headache. It is actually the searcher 600 hull, top 2 layers stripped off and rebuilt with new pilot cabin design and extended rear deck. The interior cabin will be different when its done too, right now it just looks like someone threw grenades inside xD Will get back to this soon hopefully but right now not feeling very motivated to do anything, it is too damn hot in this country today !
NEXUS is one of the highest space stations I know ... I take V7, which is unique in itself ... And I'm really looking forward to losing myself again for the first time at the newest NEXUS space station
You won't have long to wait. I just finished and published the update. Cheers! I invite everyone to check out the newly renovated Nexus Station. Have a look around and get lost exploring the station all over again. Watch out for any stray xenomorphs running around. Spoiler
That's the biggest downfall for alpha games, constant changes and loss of saves that we have to put up with until final release, this game is so good that it does spoil it to be part of this alpha development somewhat, when presented with situations like yourself, lost saves, keyboard mapping, everything in the game changed, restarting over and over. By the time the final products is complete most people wont have the enthusiasm they felt in their first alpha season of play. I too don't feel the urge for survival game anymore as I know it will all be reset again and im probably just going to wait until the final release before taking a serious survival approach and in the meantime just build content, but even that can be a ballache as limits and stuff get added, however I am still having a lot of fun building atm I found my passion once again by building boats and taking to the waters haha but even that is currently limited by a new HV sinking bug that affects a lot of servers... doh! Thankfully I have my own server with smooth waters. My role ? a seaweed (plat protein) picker, i pick the underwater goods sell it to the server and buy better boats available in the server with the proceeds I was up for anything so long as it was not another escape pod landing resource hunting starter planet escaping ballache that I have done enough of already !
Well, I had recently a bit of a set back in terms of enthusiasm with that 'Vanishing Bases' issue. When you are building temporary Bases to build up the stuff you need to go for the Big Base, that one that should dominate the Planet and you notice you have not enough material of some kind, you grab your Driller HV reduce several Ore Nodes to bottomless holes return to your base and get only a short glimpse of your Base before it Vanishes into thin Air before your tearing eyes. I set before my PC screaming at the Screen. Several times. Now, that @Hummel-o-War and those brave Devs seems to have fixed that... I am somewhat powerless to take up the steamroller pace which I had in the last 7 month since starting EGS. Now, with approx. 1800 hrs playtime under my belt.
But, to say the truth, I started yesterday a new game, leaving behind this "Base or No Base"-Game. Again on the Arid Planet, this time with my Birthdate as Planet Seed - what can go wrong?
I felt like making a mech. Haven't seen anyone making them on Empyrion, so I thought i'd roll one out. Probably won't finish it today though.
