Today I started with one of the Parts which I will need for the Tactical Operation Center: An Imperial Watch Tower. The Tower is of Concrete, can be used with LvL 10, is Airtight, and works as a little Base. Spoiler: More Pictures
Not long ago there was a powerhouse of a shipyard manufacturer. Their bar was set high and would meticulously detail all aspect of their line up. For years they churned out some high quality vessels. It seems nothing would slow down this trend. Who was this manufacturer you might wonder? Well Pystonworks of course! They set the bar high and made use of all areas from end to end of their ships. Really giving complete function to their designs. But as you might know this story doesn't end on a happy note. Not long ago the once great manufacturer closed its doors and shut down its factories. Even the workers were confused, with many people wondering, what happened? So where does ZeroG come into play? Well after not hearing from the head of Pystonworks a decision had to be made. It comes down to resources and Pystonworks was ripe for the taking. But to be fair there was an auction held to divide the resources to the highest bidders. So I sent Dave down to place a bid, I told him to just get one lot and that was all. Dave came back with Sector 0083. A ton of resources and spare parts were gained in this but more curiously a couple of working computers were in that lot as well. And wouldn't luck have it, there were some partial blueprints on them! So here we are ZeroG pieced together on of the more complete builds that we found. You know it as the Pystonworks XYU. A small SV style fighter vessel. Now we wanted to stay as true to the original design as well could but some of the blueprints were incomplete so we have to make a few changes for the missing data. Now remember ZeroG did NOT build nor design this vessel, we only assembled to the best of what we had to work with. We would also love to link to the original Pystonworks XYU but since it was taken down that is not an option. If it does come back in the future we would be more than happy to link to the original build. But at this time a shout out is all we are able to do. Enjoy! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1454486466
I stole a base . Actually it was a couple days ago, but I was too lazy to upload my screenshots. I know everyone here has already done this and it's old news to most, but this was my first real POI bash. All the previous ones were either undefended or had a drone guarding it. Anyway, on one of my saves I was doing the part of the Robinson Protocol where I had to go to the rear section of the Titan which turned out to be within weapons range of weapon bunker. I can't even begin to guess how many Zirax patrols and spiders I had to fight to get from the Titan's mid section to the rear section, I just know I went through about 6,000 rounds of 15mm ammo, and a thousand or so rockets. They were everywhere . All the while this annoying weapon bunker was shooting at me. So after finishing up with the Titan, I decided to get some revenge. Turns out XCaliber's Gun Pup tanks fits through the front gate, so I just flew in after taking out the turrets, shot the Zirax, the spawner, and the front door to the main building with the tank. Spoiler I didn't think to get a before picture of the bunker, so this one is from a different save where I did a bit of cheating just to get the before pic of what one looks like. And here is the one I bashed awhile later. I left the walls up as I worked so the nearby Zirax couldn't shoot me and still wound up with nearly 16k worth of hardened steel, the whole place is made of it. [ /SPOILER]
Congratulations! Sometimes it's fun to just cowboy around the interior of a hostile POI with an SV or HV.
Experimenting on the design of the extension of the Watch Tower: The Guard Tower. Pretty close look to what I intended to
Spent some quality time picking up ores from autominters, and waiting for factory items to click down. Also exploring my planet a bit more.
Ok. I currently extending the Base Surface for the Watch Tower. I still would very much like to be able putting a 6 pointed Star on the surface but it is very unlikely that will work out properly AND to be even shaped too.
You can still upload Pictures to those WS items (friends only), click on an Image to enlarge it, then Right-click and copy the target-link, that Image-URL can be used in these forums and the image is shown regardless wether people are friends with you on steam or not.
Ok, I will not upload any BPs for now as the STEAM Workshop seems to be broken! Only 36 of 55.000 BPs are reachable
Well, I played some in my survival game today. Did some mining with my prototype HV miner, after I had corrected the "oven" effect it had acquired with Alpha 8. Spoiler: I think EGS had radar issues with two cockpits I didn't notice it immediately, but when I checked the map versus the radar in the upper right corner, well, the radar is showing the opposite direction. North for South and South for heading North. This became a little disorienting, so I switched cockpits in the HV. It was a lot easier to drive about and uncover the unexplored sections of the map when North is North and South is South. I still haven't uncovered the whole map yet and so I have not found the infamous radar installation. But I was out there so long that when my HV suddenly stopped I had to use my spare canisters of fuel to get restarted, finish the mining spot I was on and head back to base to restock my fuel reserves.
Yeah, I was using a two-cockpit HV from the workshop for some time and couldn't figure out why I was never uncovering the red blips on the radar, they'd just vanish after heading towards them for awhile. I think (this is just a guess) that the radar is locked to the starter block orientation, so one cockpit was correct and the other was off 180 degrees.
Sometimes you should just things well enough alone. Now, I am looking for some feedback. The Goose is one of my BP I have been dabbling with on and off, like I usually do. Up until today, I believed all it needed now was texture work and a paint job. Then I had that this stupid idea to try some major changes to the engineering section.... These are the two variants side by side. I will only finish one, though. The one on the right just needs texture work and a paint job. I even did an Alpha 8 walk through and cleanup for any radiation and heat outside engineering. While I love the look of the Goose, what bothers me is that it only really accommodates a single, small HV--small ground level hangar. It has a matching small hangar up top that can accommodate my Swallow SV. So I could use it to carry one SV and one HV. The remake of the engineering section on the left was intended to accommodate a couple more small HV. By merging the "nacelles" together and then using the illusion of a mechanism that lowers for landing to add some extra ramps and tiny parking spots. There is so much about the remodel that will be a challenge to solve. Where do I put the downward facing thrusters now? How do I make a safe channel through what was one all engineering in the aft of the vessel to complete the illusion? I'll probably sit on the Goose a bit longer now until I can make up my mind. Some feedback might help me speed up that process though. Spoiler: A closer look at the landing arrangement proposal The lower nacelles had the downward facing thrusters in these spots. I haven't figured out where to relocate those, let alone most of the guts of engineering. Right now I am trying to decide if I want to pursue this further or just return to the neighboring version of the Goose which was further along.
Working on a detailed Abandoned Airfield base. It's taking a lot longer than I thought it would. Mainly because of texture rotation and applying various moss and rust stains. It currently contains 4 main buildings: The Hangar, Control Tower (living quarters), Warehouse (contains most of the stuff vital for survival) and a ruined office (contains farms). Pretty sure the grow lights are 1 block too high.
That's a convincing POI. Your first two pics are very well shot indeed. I'd like to see this in the game.
That's an awesome base! I'm doing a play through right now where my character wont build bases, only take over POIs and use those as a base. I'd love to run into something like that
That's become my favorite way to play EGS. Using a patched up POI for a base has a nice survival vibe to it.
