To get a break from 'Das MAUL' (current size class 68) i wanted to make a small CV, not starter, just small - in size class Working Name: Kleines GR = Small CV Release Name: SEA Galaxy Ramble MK1 (cross language wordplay GR=CV) Dimensions: 94m x 66m x 26m Unlock Level 10 Class: 4.73 Going to publish the MK1 within the next hour, and then work on the MK2 Version. EDIT: Released -> MK1 <- Really want/need those RCS T2 as well as the L and XL thrusters! Not quite sure on the forcefields for the MK1... they need ere&zasc, but unlock at lvl 7.. as glorious mat reqs as the offline protection. It is just 32 ere & zasc though Spoiler
Started a new survival game in some server. My first Hv was the mantra 420 cruising yacht used a tiny pod sv too. Made a w250 warp drive cv, got away from the starter planet. Found a nice planet to call home, dropped the cv in water and adapted it into a dock xD
I love a good preparation… 2 Hours later.. the ship (hull) is full Combat steel now, has L+XL thrusters and flys like a charm! To compare… Spoiler: MK1 Spoiler: mk2 Further, I've increased the standby time from not 70hrs to almost 250 hrs. And all this wtihin only a size class range of 0.17 ! (--> it is 4.90 now) Here ya go:
Well, this post turned out a lot longer than I thought it would. Seriously, if you hate long posts you might want to move on. This might be my longest post ever I started a new game a few days ago with some RP house rules: 1) It's a semi-nomadic play style, my character will take over POI's and modify them to fit his needs, but wont build any from the ground up, he just cant be bothered. It is the mentality that he is in a hostile land with most of the life forms trying to kill him, so he'll take what he needs and move on. 2) He will only mine for his initial 2 HVs, the first to get him around faster (level 3 unlock), and the second at level 7 that he can modify as he levels up. After that he his done with mining. He's sick of it and would rather take what he needs from his enemies. Any upgrades, ammo, weapons, supplies, or building pieces have to be made from salvage or the loot he gets from taking out POIs. The exception being fuel (logs, promethium, pentaxid), I'm not sure there is enough loot to keep up with fuel demands. But even with the promethium and pentaxid he wont physically mine, he's using auto miners for that. On rule one, it was originally going to be a completely nomadic lifestyle until I realized you needed a base to build CV parts. And for rule two, as much fun as I had in my previous games as soon as I created a mining CV I had so much ore I was adding extra cargo boxes to the base just to have someplace to put several thousand of the rarest ores until I could get around to deciding what I wanted to build next. Anyway, enough rambling, on to the pictures: Spoiler Here's the level 3 HV I blueprinted for him to build. It was supposed to be a dangerous piece of junk, and it is For some reason I couldn't stop giggling at how bad it was. With the two front hover engines being so close together it can be "fun" to drive. But it does accelerate at 45 m/s After that I created his level 7 unlock for him to build. I wanted something he could add on to as he leveled up and got the resources. For his roaming lifestyle it had to have a med bay, oxygen station, armor container, a lot of cargo, oxygen (he's on an arid planet), and fuel (I may have went overboard with over 39 hours of standby). Plus I knew it would be awhile before it would be upgraded enough to take out POIs. So here is the Marauder MK III (yeah, it took me three tries). Level 7 version. That's the level 20 version with combat armor to the right. Not sure about the back end, or why I had my helmet on in creative. And finally, the one I have in game. Took a long time, but was finally able to salvage and loot enough to complete it. Ammo on the other hand, well I turn off my rocket turrets a lot and only use the artillery if I'm manually controlling it. So after that, I decided I needed a heavy SV and after wasting I don't know how many hours came up with this. The red one was finished first, then I tried to make a better one (on the left). They are symmetrical right to left, not sure why the pic makes one side look much bigger. I'm really not sure which one I hate more. Seriously, I'm not flying those things. So then I dropped the idea of a heavy SV and decided to do a light non-warping scout SV instead. Kinda looks like a fat bug. But I can live with it, and I really wanted to get back to playing. Anyway, I'm really loving this play through. With the arid planet and having to live out of my HV for a while it had a nice Mad Max vibe to it. Sometimes going where I could go and not where I wanted to go. Other times having to choose which weapons to use based on what ammo I had available at the time. But, now that my HV is complete, things are much easier. And this planet does have nice sunsets

Been working on "The MAUL" Luckily there's the selection tool, still there are alot of fine tunings (not to Mention to add all items to my custom groups!) after each paste…. Oh, it is class 123 at the Moment, so i thought i'd give a current 'preview' Spoiler At the end of the day, i'd bet there is NOT ONE CV of this size with that 'few' resouces. I think once it is done, it'll probably require about 750k sathium and around 450'ish k iron. @Fenris It is the angle and design that causes this optical Illusion, dont worry You got yourself some nice hv and sv's!
After a dozen failed attempts to make a CV in creative. I finally made one that i'm happy with. Though it's still a long way from completion. Sadly, it's mostly inspired by someone else's SV. Will rework the "arms" a bit tomorrow and hopefully finish the interior, then i'll smooth the exterior and add a few more guns.
Nothing sad about that mate, you were inspired by something and you built what you built. I can guarantee that each build you make will bring you a step closer to what you want to truly create. The journey teaches us a lot, I am thankful to have been inspired by various workshop builders, some of the stuff I have in my workshop would not exist if it were not for that spark of inspiration I received from another design. Its a good looking build !
I've been a bit busy but I still putter around on a few projects. Finished up (for the most part) a main hanger bay on a CV project and decided to make some relatively compact modular combat mechs to populate the hanger. It was actually a pretty fun diversion working on some SVs.
