here is my saucer, I wasn`t satisfied with it, so going to make 3 version of it, ship with a saucer, as I wanted to make it , to lazy to finish it. also a mining ship, seems to work good, I tried to sneak the elevators on a sv, as before if u were close , almost touching it it would bring u up, well I guest that don`t work no more, so I got to find a way to get on board, I figured maybe jump on the legs and make a door at the top of the legs??, not much w/o elevators for sv, any trick I don`t know, still wip, prob never be finish, but for the mining 1 , its almost done it can fly in the atmo for 9 hrs straight or go on a solar journey for 52 hrs straight and didn`t test it in battle , but it can take a lot of beating and still go, major component are well placed. oh all stuff is hidden behind doors, it got 3 lvs, 2 escaped hatch top bottom, I didn`t bother to show the rest of the ship
This is version 3 of my Rifter from EVE Online. It's taken several days and many hours to get the design right. It's quite large as SV's go, weighing in at around 230T. It's a combat frigate, so it's not as nimble as smaller SV's, but is still capable of fast controlled flight. Edit v3: Thanks to some advice from Bakkur, I've completely overhauled the ships performance. It's now way more nimble than it was, though I made some adjustments in the drag, so that it still feels like it has some weight. A gravity generator has been added also, so no more banging your head when in zero G. Edit v3: I've also overhauled the interior, and other various aesthetic changes, like closing off the large engine radiators at the front, and giving the large radiator interior area a look of purpose. I also tweaked the crew cabin, and cargo areas. The Rifter will accommodate x1 pilot, and x6 passengers. File/pictures updated, I fixed the landing gear to how it's intended in the lore from EVE Online. It has these oddly curved skids at the rear, that it leans back on while landed. Due to the ship being at a slight tilt when landed, I reworked the access point when entering from the ground. There's an entrance at the rear of each engine mandible. Edit v3: After changing the flight characteristics, the ship was able to descend much faster, so I made adjustments to the amount of upwards thrust at the rear of the ship. Once the large engine/radiator mandibles at the front are on the ground, if you continue to hold down the C key, the rear of the ship will slowly lower itself down onto it's landing skids. This same feature works in reverse when taking off by using the up arrow key. It looks pretty sweet! Short Showcase video I've only added the file to my original post, here's a link. Rifter v3
I wonder if this will fit through the dock port on my new base. I'll download it when I get home as find out, the intention being, that even that largest (practical) SVs should be able to land in the interior.
@Predatar556 Just for reference, compared to my Tiberius Frigate (which is a CV) Impressive build man, it's huge for an SV! Not as nimble as I'd imagined, but still a solid vessel
Nice!!! That's an awesome looking CV too! Using converted CV thrusters, I could've made it crazy nimble, like a tiny little fighter. But after doing that, it just felt wrong, like it was small with no weight. So I adjusted the DOF's that needed adjusting, and tried to leave the rest a tad sluggish so you could feel the weight. Still, at 240T+, she's pretty agile. PS: Do you have that CV up to download? I'd like to check it out!
Take pictures/video! I love seeing a good landing area! Mines still a work in progress... I keep neglecting it to work on ships... lol
Indeed, in the CV sub-forum. Here's a convenient link. Edit: I think I've added more thrusters to the Tiberius since uploading, so it'll probably feel pretty sluggish. Might upload a new version with added stuff eventually
No worries, I like a little sluggishness as I mentioned, makes it feel beefy lol... Going to check it out right now!
Well, I've worked on a few small and moderate projects. My first Small Vehicle was the Pointmore Mk 1, a "light" dropship designed for function over fashion with doors in the back and a protected crew compartment. It contains a pair of constructors, a pair of mobile refrigerators, four passenger seats and a cargo box for each passenger. Two generators just barely manage to keep her fuel demands satisfied, though, and a pair of fuel tanks will only keep this gas guzzler running for about half an hour - and that's using large promethium packs, too! But she uses tons of fuel for a good reason: she's covered in boosters and boasts excellent maneuverability both horizontally and vertically. She does lack rotational maneuverability, but that can be added with another RCS or two which will certainly be a part of the Pointmore Mk 1A. Finally, you'll notice she's mostly covered in applique armor plates, making her a slightly tougher target. Given the current state of ship constitution in the game, though, she won't last very long against plasmas or rockets. Blueprint is attached.
My second vehicle, the Pointmore Mk 2, met disastrous failure when I discovered that several hours of work were down the drain because somehow the SV blueprint.... HAD BEEN FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN and the whole build process was thus upside down. So I used the Green Hawk to haul the half-completed screwed-up Pointmore Mk 2 to the other side of the pond and blow it up. Pointmore Mk 2 was more ambitious than Pointmore Mk 1, being of greater size and lesser maneuverability but offering significantly more space for passengers and cargo, making moving around the ship that much more easy. Pointmore Mk 2 was a lot easier on the eyes. It held significantly more fuel and generated more than sufficient power. Although it was bigger and slower, it felt much more elegant than the tiny, cramped Pointmore Mk 1A. And the beautiful, epic Schwalbe Mk 1 was not to be. An hour into the build process a slight human error caused a large physics glitch, causing the lovely Schwalbe to be, well, aborted before she could exit the womb. That is, the womb sort of blew up. That's a decent enough metaphor. :'( I will rebuild the Schwalbe in Survival though. Schwalbe will be my magnum opus thus far. Since my calculus professor is boring I just sit in the back and draw Empyrion ship designs during that class. xD My next vehicle was much more modest. It was only a small space fighter, the Phoenix Mk 1. The Phoenix boasted the same top speed as the Pointmores (40m/s in atmosphere, 110m/s in space) but had significantly greater agility thanks to having dual RCS units and very little mass. Also since it's so light and has such engine power, it stops and starts almost instantaneously. It hover and descent thrusters are also more than sufficient. The Phoenix was not designed for fighting while hovering in place, but instead making swift attack runs and turnarounds. While it can hover, it is relatively unstable in doing so for lack of side thrusters. Also, Phoenix has a slow roll rate for some reason. I will week ways to improve roll rate in the Phoenix Mk 1A variant. Phoenix Mk 1 is fairly well armed, four pulse lasers for dogfighting and four rocket launchers to pack a nice anti-ground spread. Here's the Phoenix:
There is a Tread where is told how but in Short words Make a Creative Game Place there in Space your SV then place a CV starter block leave game open Folder from the game example C:\Games\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\Creative_1 there open the folder from the SV Copy the 4 files from there into the Folder from the CV .. start game and there you have the SV in CV size and you can put every thing into it what you want after your rework copy the files back from CV into the SV and done Edit: if you Place turrets from an HV or CV on a SV they didnt work anymore
Yeah this is a hack and modules you use may or may not work. Be aware that this can screw up your model so use blueprints to back it up before hand. Also dev has stated that this will be going away some day so don't get dependent on it.
I updated the Rifter, just a small update. Fixed some oversights and a few performance/handling tweaks. Made a short showcase video for it tonight, and just noticed some things that made my OCD flare up... Version 3.2 Here
Nice work mate. If you use the CV flight seat you can have a Ship Bridge instead of a cockpit, would probably look cool. Check my Draco Frigate.... http://empyriononline.com/threads/small-vessel.1501/page-9#post-21345
My first SV for submission - NaX T-46 Guardian, a small scouting vessel. Specs: Mass 5,28 t 12 directional thrusters 2 generators (probably need only one) 2 RCS 2 pulse laser cannons for defense during reconnaissance ops Try to find the fuel tank
Very cool! The bridge on your Draco looks awesome! The Rifter is actually a 1:1 scale replica of a ship from EVE Online. That particular cockpit is about as close as I could get to it's EVE counterpart. She's a 60m long combat frigate, about the size of a 747, and only running with a one or two man crew. So no real need/room for a full bridge. There is a crew common area though, with an access corridor leading to the cockpit. The common area also houses reserve fuel tanks separate from the large fuel banks located in each of the main engine mandibles, and an EVA hatch. Just to either side of the common area are x2 small cargo bays, and I've also added pods for up to 6 passengers.
It’s probably a wise decision, Empyrion still doesn’t handle people walking around in a moving vessel very well, I tested it!….
Hahahaha!!! My buddy and I did the same thing the other night. It looked like he got ejected out of an exhaust port. One second he's onboard and next he's breathing vacuum ...lol
