Finished my attack on the Abandoned Drone Base. As a user of tiny HV, there was some elements of that POI that I really loved. Features that I thought were well targeted against players like me without also punishing players on foot. So I made a YouTube video where I point out these features, that they didn't stop me but sure did make me pay an extra price in planning and ammunition for using a tiny HV
Every content creator for the game is greatly appreciated Looking forward to see more videos teaching people how to build beautiful and well crafted ships and bases
Made an experimental laser mining HV. Mining lasers suck, btw. No wonder no one uses them. They're inferior versions of the mechanical drill, except with longer reach. The FA-014 Hammer. Might reuse the back half of the HV for another design and dump the front half.
The Drills are a pain in the ass because of their short reach. Mining Lasers in my opionion make Mining-HVs usable at first. But still, only for "centered" ressources like iron, copper, silicone. For single spread ressources like promethium they are imho to "heavy". Holy... the back looks really good. From that view i'd suggest you to make a ship in bee-shape, because that already looks like the back of a bee (But as an SV then )
Mining lasers need some serious changes. Complete removal of the drill "kick"; reduction in weight so they don't weigh as much as a car; a new "beam" that's wider and more impressive than just a magic lightning bolt; higher damage vs surface rocks; and wider mining range. Seriously, with 4 lasers pointed at one big rock, it takes as long as a handheld T2 drill.
Wait... you just made a video that is helping me to make things more engaging. ... Thank you! I will ponder the lessons here. I try to find all the videos of players taking out POI's - especially the abandoned variations. It is very informative. I love all the different creative ways players take out POI's. Whether it is small vessel exploration like you did or digging underneath them or erecting gun structures next to it. @Everyone keep on goin! Push me and POI makers like me. Do not ever stop!
Ok, had some health issues which kept me from playing..so I started a new SP Survival game yesterday and this morning a Base, which differs completely from all I built so far. I started with a thick layer of Armored Concrete and built upon that the structure, mainly consisting of AC, Concrete and Steel Blocks. The Plan goes for several outlaying buildings, like a farm and 2 workshops for HV and SV as well as Storage Buildings and Production Facilities. Main Entrance through to Engineering 1st Floor Construction Area 2nd Floor Recreation and 3rd Floor Command Level 3 Floor Private Chambers
Do you use creative menu in survival? Or do you play 26 hours per day? I stopped my single player in the meantime, because it got way to grindy, for building a nice base or especially a CV. CV problematic escalates because you need ressources you can't get on the starterplanet, so you have to build a bigger SV with warpdrive even before. I noticed even that none of the vanilla BP SV has a warpdrive, not even place for a warpdrive. I looked through some bps here in the forums and most of them which at least mention that is has a warpdrive or space for a warpdrive cost almost as many material as basic CV does... That way i also figured out that putting a hardened large steel block put into factory gives you full 2 iron bars, but it costs 20 iron bars to build such a block... So my plan to harvest the Titan wreck to build a CV by BP from it was also canceled. Additionally such a nice, big base is somehow pretty useless in singleplayer.
Hello everyone. Just another update on the progress of Alaska Research Outpost. Most of the work inside of the base is now complete. All I’ve got to do is underpin the structure. So there’s no chance that it will suddenly implode if you remove the wrong block. Currently continuing to reinforce the outer defence system as you can see from the picture above. Still got a bit more to do, but nearly complete. I’ve finally been able to work out a way to package the lift equipment. Hopefully it should be easy to install, as long as you follow the instructions. Well that’s it for now but if all goes well? It should be available in the workshop next week.
The Copperhead-x is a cheaper low cost SV with warp. It might be suited for the use you described. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1178184988
No Creative, only SP Survival. The "Big Base" is one of many I built so far as it is fun to do so. And it is a challenge too, besides of hostile environments and pesky Drones building under some kind of pressure. Also I don't use symmetry Mode. Besides, I get so much crushed Stone from drilling that I always build my Structures of concrete. Steel Block have been taken from the, close by, Titan Wrecks. One day, and so god will soon, when Empyrion reaches BETA I will start with my biggest project. A Base made of 6 Bases and set up, may be, on a moon. I found a suitable picture for it at https://www.deviantart.com/artofjokinen/art/ARTEMIS-723163712
A few of us have built a cheap SV. There was even a challenge a while back that a number of us participated in. The challenge didn't have a limit on the cost, but the size limit meant several of the entries were economical. Entries were required to have warp drives. You might find something good in there. https://empyriononline.com/threads/zerog-challenge-build-01-sv-fighter-completed.36343/ My Swallow SV was built for the trip to the moon to get cobalt and then add SV mobile constructor, warp drive fuel tank, and warp drive (to be added in that order too). Now you can get enough cobalt loot from some of the easy POI that you should be able to skip right to something like @Jenniphurr's. Swallow Unlock Level: 7 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1328699865 And I am sure there are others who also have at least one starter type SV without the big price tag that either includes or is prepared for a warp drive. They just might not be obvious to find.
@Buuuh I mostly build in Creative and then BP Factory in SP. So far I have only used my own creations, because I want highly functional ones and affordable where looks does not matter too much. Main functions for me are movement, equipment, combat, repair (without template), size, modify-able. Although I try add a bit of design in shape so do not look as boxes, but rarely color/texture. Also waiting for more block shapes and such, along that the game become more finished. I probably publish a few more of my vessels this week. They might not look much, but often I have used many hours on them trying to find OK solutions.
Making a new POI. Like the Dictator base that I almost finished, but never went back to. I'll have to finish it someday... Here's this smaller, simpler zirax POI-to-be. Maybe. Structurally stable, but not finished yet.
Someone dumped a shitload of dirt on my doorsteps Took me a WALK AROUND MY BASE to "clean" it up again Took a night time picture in gm to check for light effects
What did I do today? Well I have been working on something truly amazing! This is going to blow your minds!~ BOOM! But I no spoil, but shall only tease with what is to come! Muhahahaha!
Zirax Planetary Ion Cannon POI. And look, it has babies! Almost finished. Just some small tweaks left.
Dear god.... So... I'me just going to extrapolate a bit here but I assume this one won't shoot through the terrain, it simply shoots the planet away from your feet....
