Tactica Base reached now max extend on the outside. Now I can focus on the placement of additional Buildings and the remaining Turrets.
Working on my 2nd big CV. Still a lot of work left (exterior fluff, textures, colors and dreaded interior), but coming along nicely. Little unusual design. It does a little of everything, but is suppose to be a "head-on" battleship. Size class 8 or 9 so far
I'm still waiting on inspiration for a larger build, so for today I did another quick build. It's nothing spectacular, I just thought I would do a low-cost warp SV for emergencies.
Starting to work on the outside shape of Project Daedalus. Maybe with some of my renewed excitement in this I can get some much needed work done to it! Anyways, here ya go~
Decided to redesign Oberon by Zertali as I see it fit for my needs. All hangars, the main and the two wing docking ones, are now much bigger. Also I got rid of the main hangar's annoying ramp and replaced the repair bay to a proper place close to the hangar doors. It is still a work in progress but the main part is already done. The original ship's lines remain almost untouched and the result pleases me. Spoiler: Ariel CV: Work in progress photos
I think by doing this modification, I have solved the problem some HV might have maneuvering when the player tries to dock on in the main hangar. Spoiler: Big size SV docking dimensions comparison
Hm...running out of inspiration with my Base somehow. Worked on some kind of Hangar/Factory Building and got lost Instead of placing huge Hangar Doors in the Roof I have gone for Force Fields. Exterior of the Building looks a bit like a Cathedral...(Steam punk?)
Base with the "Cathedral" On several Pictures you can see how the hill which I flattened partially is "breaking" through the built on surfaces as soon as I go in a distance of 120m +
Ok. Have you tried to use only Force fields instead of the huge Hangar doors? Or would this break the appearance of the Ship to much? Largest Force field 14x7 like the Hangar Door just without a frame
Well those might be used on the winged docking pads. I think the overall design can not be complemented by the use of force fields, so I did not use them. Hangar doors protect from direct hits to the docked vessels. On the other hand it is easy to install them instead of hangar doors plus they are hard to hit.
Did more alien building today. Though for now have stalled out on account of limitations with teleporters and portals. So I spent a bit of time making a non-alien "turret drone", the FA-015A - 015D Sentry, several variations of a basic area defender that can be cheaply made, slapped down, throw in some fuel and ammo and you and your main base are now covered from any attacks. Variations A, B, C and D are each equipped with 2 retractable sentry turrets on their sides and a retractable main gun on top (Cannon, Minigun, Rocket or Radar). They also contain a large cargo box internally, for off-base storage or if you just want to use the Sentry Drone as a mini-base, that you can just slap a constructor at the bottom of a leg and go. As long as all 4 legs are on the ground they're structurally stable, but there's an antenna between their legs just in case.
