Today, I made the Sentry's big brother: The FA-016A Sentinel Unlike the sentry, which is just a gun turret at a base, the Sentinel is an almost complete base: 2 constructors, a kitchen, 4-person living quarters, a bridge (non-functional ofc), small medbay, cargo bay, 1 artillery cannon, 2 cannon turrets and 2 minigun turrets. No farms though, this is a military unit. Though you could easily fit one by clearing out the crew quarters or bridge. Front (asymmetric) Rear (reversable, strangely enough) Loading bay (you can fit a small HV in there, not recommended though) Interior hallway. Next step is to convert it into a CV. A pity there are no Hover CVs. The FA-001, the first vessel I made in Empyrion was also called the Sentinel. Looking back at it, it's so terrible. It was an HV made of starter materials for the sole purpose of taking on the radar defenses in the robinson protocol. Which it succeeded at, but there wasn't much left of it aferwards.
This is cheeky, i'm going to post something i did a while ago; simply because i didn't post this at the time and i believe that it was pretty awesome. Some background: I'm a co-leader/member of one of the bigger PVP alliances on the HWS server. And there is this planet called Golden Globe (GG). On GG the surface was literally made out of gold! Which allowed for people to become rapidly rich if they risked going down to the most dangerous planet in the universe. As the biggest PVP alliance we decided to set up shop there: Building an enormous ten-base, triple faction stronghold, BY HAND! Here's a picture of how construction went: Slowly over time it got bigger; and bigger! Overall it took three real life days to build by hand. The walls are starting to be developed here. The plan was to have turrets all along and around the walls with a big central tower providing epic fire support for the walls and to prevent enemy SVs 'dive bombing.' us! Here the walls are finally finished, but there are not enough turrets on the left and the central tower is still under construction. As you can see from the state of my SV; The enemy did not simply allow this build to happen quietly, they attacked us quite often during the construction, hence the number of SVs you see on the right hand side inside the mega-base. One of our friends rightly pointed out that from directly above our base was starting to look like the NATO symbol....woops! Haha. And this is what she looked like close up, as you can see lots of fighting deformed the ground; similar to WW1. Big holes and craters and obstacles making it even more difficult for the enemy to get close! This was an incredible base. Unfortunately we did not realise at the time that we had made an error in construction, and had accidentally broken one of the rules. So respectfully and right away we began tearing down the base. (It was in this pic where the server admin pointed out an error in our construction, that we had some clipping blocks on the corner sections, and we also had some components from base X built into base Y which was against the rules, unfortunately we hadn't taken this into consideration, so we had a choice; either a pretty major rennovation and excavation of all 10 bases, or we could instead recycle it and chill out.) After about a week of near continous day/night fighting we decided to pack up before we got too tired and made a mistake that the enemy could capitalize on. But it was certainly one of the greatest bases we have ever built as an alliance! This is a picture of our base as we started to packup, she was glorious little base, and held up very well against our very good enemy factions. This is what i love about PVP; creating amazing things, and defending them, but also learning to let them go; no matter how great. All in the name of keeping PVP a friendly and low-stress experience Best regards Wise.
I'm finally getting around to making a new CV, this one's supposed to be a medium battlecarrier. In between the 2 armor plates on top will be a bridge sticking out, but I have to make sure it's not too big. I could use any feedback you got, but so far so good!
Well been a busy seven days, unfortunately I wasn’t able to work on it earlier in the week which only left today to get the rest of Alaska’s systems ready, but I’m sure you will be impressed with the defence system, which comes in not one flavour, but three. Or you can go crazy and just enable them all at the same time. Still a few odd jobs to do around the base, mostly cosmetic. The upper structure is finished and furnished. Simplified the installation of Alaska’s lift equipment again. So it should be easier to to install and use. One note of warning: because basically the lift is a CV. You’ll have to make sure that CV’s are allowed on the planet you want to build it upon, but even without the lift Alaska’s got some impressive features. Hopefully if real life doesn’t get in the way again. It should be released to the workshop this weekend or early next week. Meanwhile I hope you are all drooling over the pictures.
Been working on the Bullfrog some more. I was stuck on what to do with the interior for a bit but I finally had a bit of inspiration. Now I just need to paint and texture the thing. It's going to be a freighter/transport with two hangars, one for SV's and one for HV's. Another project I've been working on. I can't decide what colors to use with it.
@all: Really nice and cool builds, lately! WOW As i could not get much sleep tonight i decided to work on my O2 Facility a bit more. Exterior and "production" area i have almost finished now. What's left is the grocery vendor, entrance by HV and machine room. Don't think i will get much more done on this weekend but who knows... So here a few screens i shot:
Worked a little bit on 'older' SV's of mine, and made them 'starter-capable'... (or even friendlier as start vehicles) My first own SV I fell in love with. The original Speedo (built in first mp) and the ancestor of the ERA-S Cout (which is currently on the FrontPage - YAY ) It requires 40 sathium for the thrust covers, and some cobalt because of the warp drive. The ERA-S Trike A is now slightly more expensive than the prefab 1c, but cheaper than any other prefab sv. And now with 4 miniguns removed, it is no longer as ammo hungry as it was before. But I also kept working on the MAUL Spawndock: Spoiler: pics Class 81 and still LOTS do to!
Fantastic Stuff! Now. You don't want to tell me that this could be built in an actual game, do you? 81...that's a ludicrous size
Thank you! Believe it or not, but, in my mind, this is a result of 'reasonable sized' building. Where reasonable size refers to match the game mechanics for others builds i've previoulsy built 'reasonable sized', that turned out to be anywhere between class 11 to class 85... For a faction carrier that can hold (at least) 12 hovers of class 4 and up to 64 SVs with a length of 454m, it does require quite a hughe spawnplattform. Now, when/if you 'have' to build such a hughe plattform, you want it to be alive, not dead.. this is what happens - There is NOT one npc yet, I'll do them last, to the 'purest' minimum I can accept. Just the empty hollow Plattform is 43, each of the docks below, incl interior, is class 9.x = ~19. Mind you, these docks can 'hold' a class 15 CV, which is 60 blocks/120m wide. Next on the list is some constructor for 'constructors and furnaces', and 'living' stuff like Schools, Apartments, security… figured… this size, I make it 'city-like' which hosts the working force Uff... and I do need alot of practice with 'industrial building'... And sci-fi like... and... The scale is immense, and I want to have it done in about 2 weeks - 28th'ish. I think i'll try a 'size'-class 4 CivPOI in between, I mean… what is one building compared to a 'city'? This to, 'why I do it' - and more. To your Question: Of course it could/can be built in a regular gameplay! Point is, it would not take 'just' a couple of hundred hours, but a couple of thousends hours. (EDIT: Now, I do like the building/texturing process, but I also like to get things done!) Maybe as a faction, you'd be down to a couple of hundred Hours again… But it is a rare Occasion to have: * 1-3 Builders * 1-4 Farmers : gardening, asteroids, harvesting POIs * 1-4 Heros : POI Raiders (kill everything to the core) Where all builders have the same or at least similar Building style/level (or are capable to adjust to the others), and everybody else likes that style and prefers it over other Workshop items, so that everybody is happy
Well this is it. I’m finally uploading the Alaska Outpost plus the lift blueprints to the workshop. I’m creating a dedicated section in the general forum simply because the lift installation guide is rather long and I’d like people to be able to find it easy. If you have/find any problems? Feel free to contact me. The section will be called, “Morgenroete Industries – Alaska Outpost.” It's now avaible here https://empyriononline.com/threads/morgenroete-industries-–-alaska-outpost.45643/
For everybody who prefers Building CV's and SV's in space, and test them in high gravity, I have made a new Scenario: It comes with 5 planets with gravity (and atmo) from 0.7 to 5.0. Oh yes, and you start with coloring-, texturing- and multi-tool and some oxygen bottles and fusion cells in your inventory. I'm open to suggestions to improve it. If you have a prefered Empyrion Sound for orbits, please name it, I might have overseen it!
Today we had another MEGA attack on Golden Globe on the HWS server. We managed to hold them back for 7 hours until we were finally overwhelmed. An awesome, no drama fight from all around! Well played to our adversaries RED and OPG! Our Base towards the first engagement Some amazing tunnel fights were had also; we suddenly realised we really need some smaller tunnel fighting SV designs! The base was called 'blood spire' and we joked about how many 'sacrifices' there had been on that day. This screenshot gives you a good idea. Every 'dot' no matter how distant was a ship or HV, alive or dead. As some weird glitch meant that they continued to float in the air; a testament to the sudden-ness in which most of their inhabitants had perished! This was what remained of my ship after a sudden evacuation off of planet. You're looking at my ship here from behind. The crosshair is on the cockpit; fully exposed. Multiple shots from enemy SVs nearly got me. But we managed to successfully evacuate the base with most of the resources. A great fight all around! Best regards Wise. PS: I love my ship. Two versions of her (i crashed in the 1st one) got me through the entire eight hour onslaught!
@Wiseman738/ This looks like it's been hell of a fight! …. small… tunnel fight… uhm.. how about: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1516731494
Been working on some stuff for my scenario. I introduce the Rogue Drone Harvester. I was torn between doing a more low-tech "malfunctioning industrial" drone look, but I wanted to try out the high-tech more organic appearance and I think it worked out. It's going to be spawned as a freighter or a standalone space POI (perhaps next to an ore asteroid). I'll make a second version that is rotated to be spawned as a POI on planets or moons "drilling" straight down into the surface. Little is known of the origins of rogue drones. Some believe they were the result of a failed collaboration between House Epsilon and House Abyssal to create a fully autonomous arm of the Zirax empire. Others speculate they were created by the Elder Talon for some unknown purpose long ago. These semi-sentient drones can be found in the inner solar system working tirelessly to obtain raw materials to build new drones and will aggressively defend their mining operations and hives with precision strike weaponry such as lasers or missiles. Also been working on a casino/club for a pirate faction. Still very early. Yes, all those lights were set up to be animated to give the illusion of a giant display. <3 thanks for the blinking lights devs! Players will be able to raid the casino's vault, if they keep an eye out for clues and carry the right lock codes from other pirate bases. Once they open the vault door they'll only have a few minutes to loot all the cash and gold coins they can while fighting off armed guards before all the loot self destructs.
Short question to the Creators here: Are Space-Stations, close to Planets, in a Geo-Sync-Orbit? Or is the "play field" of the Space station standing still while the Planets rotates beneath it?
