I spent some time tonight making this preview video of the planet class I've been working on these past few days for my custom scenario.
When your ship is too heavy to leave the moon. haha I should have checked the gravity before I tried to land here. I have to look for resources to build some more thrusters.
I made a new oldschool industrial prefab base. Will be available soon... probably. Cheap to build with plenty of space for HVs and SVs and all the goodies needed to get started. Has a spot for a small farm, but no grow plots because they're just annoying to put in a blueprint.
Last year I decided I'd have a christmas profile pic for all year except around christmas, and I stumbled upon this great sprite from pokemon colosseum and I thought, why not?
Messing around today trying to come up with a ship for T431's micro cv challenge. It's hard makin' ships that small! I've got a bunch of designs littering my shipyard but nothing I'm really thrilled with. Probably the weirdest thing I've ever made is that cube ship on the lower right. It's just a collection of cubes(full and half offset) with a ring attached with all the engines facing inward. The one that's sitting on the pad is probably the one I'm going to go with unless I have some sudden burst of inspiration. That one on the lower left next to the Hercules freighter is just a smidge too large to meet the challenge but I liked the design so I'm going to finish it at some point. Spoiler
I've put together and did some survival testing of an A9 hover miner with a decent size harvest box -32,000L - today. It's probably more accurate to call it a cargobox with drills and engines attached. Worked pretty well overall, cleared out 4 small size deposits (forgot to set it to large) which filled about 60% of the harvest box (although I did have the on-board constructors refining ore in to ingots). Also weight tested it to handle about 180tons additional mass (which is about how much a full 32kL of promethium weighs). Really wish they hadn't taken away the hover engine lift force from the stats screen, would make it a lot easier to figure out how much mass/weight your hover engines can support if that value was still visible. The only problem is it's really ugly since I can't retexture those cargo extensions. Probably won't be workshopping it until we're allowed to change the texture on those boxes (if they allow it at all). Edit: went ahead and attached blueprint and thumbnail below if anyone wants to try it out (put in a new folder in empyrion steam dir/saves/blueprints/###/ ) Spoiler: A couple more pics and stats Max cargo/ammo loads example (promethium being the densest ore at 50kg per 9L unit):
Bought! Send one over to the Corporation HQ! Uhm...ugly you said?...Well,...I saw worse than that I have send you a friend invite on Steam so you might, if you willing(?), give me a chance to get one if you are so kind?
sure, accepted, and added the blueprint to above post. I'll go ahead and publish it to friend's only on workshop as well
Today's project, now I just have to make it pretty and safe for the pilot. ... and add some of the new deco parts that were just released.
Design is nice, as a small CV anyway. Downside I see is the need for an Adv. Constructor to produce the Front Window while the rest might be produced by a Large Constructor. Btw., why you are placing Minigun Turrets instead of Cannon Turrets? Any special Reason? I know only that Miniguns are Ammo spitter and Canon kills with 2-3 Shots and have greater firing Range too.
I'm terrible about finishing builds. I tend to tinker a lot. Spoiler Messed around with this. I reworked the saucer section and made it bigger. Looks better now. And then I built this today for T431's micro CV challenge. It's airtight. Bullets on the other hand....who knows! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still awaiting paint and textures.
I guess it's a holdover from the days when miniguns were a higher level item. I can swap out the windows, i just liked how they looked.
I really can't think of a game other than Star Citizen that is as beautiful as this. Riding in my little Box shape HV .
I spent today tweaking my challenge build, and checking out the competition. My build looks thinner than the others, I wonder if I can widen it... Then again, my build is the only one with side turrets, maybe I'm already at the width limit.
The Side Turrets will surely count towards the Width of the Ship. Side Defense is more useful then mere extra Hull Width anyway.
Yeah I say keep the side turrets if you're able to fit them in. Being able to shoot straight up or down is really nice in space or if you fly over a drone. Makes your CV stand out a little from the competition.
