Very nice build, I think it may be the longest submission for the challenge. The docking bay on the side is a nice touch.
Quick question, side docking bay or space reserved for grow pots? I figured out how to get enough space to put in a side docking bay for SV's on the Osanshouo W/O changing it's current dimensions. But it would sacrifice the area I reserved for grow pots.
The challenge mentions a docking port, not a docking bay. The doors on the sides of my Cutter are docking ports, and you can connect compatible SV's like the T4-Talon to it.

Spent most of the day toying with another submission for this challenge. I went vertical, full amenities including 18 growth plots and made of hardened steel (half blocks are combat steel). Not finished yet but as I am working from home today I figure I might get to start the pain job and adding details to the hull. (5 wide 11 long and something like 34 tall so it should meet the challenge rules) I am really curious to get some feedback on this build. I like how it looks really different than most ships but since I have never built a vertical ship before I have no real frame to compare it to and am seeking some opinions. Cheers
That's a really creative way to go about it! It kinda reminds me of a building. Maybe make it more of a mobile space station?
HOMEWORLD BANANA SHIP...! <3 I'm amazed it works so well in such a small scale. http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Kushan_Mothership
Oh wow. I must have subconsciously inspired myself from this. I played a couple thousand hours of Homeworld at least, not to mention Homeworld 2 and Cataclysm. Now where is that disc. I may need to revisit it again
Okay well I embraced the Homeworld theme I apparently inspired myself from and I present you the Khar-Toba, my second submission to this challenge. Fully geared and totally vertical. I dropped the notion of specific roles and went with survival oriented affordable housing (not counting the 4 pulse lasers mind you). *Workshop link* https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1612778122 I rushed the pain job a tad since I will probably not have any more time till the weekend but I had a blast with this challenge Any feedback is welcomed, positive or otherwise. Cheers! Kahrek Laume
With that vertical build it would be great if we had a pilot seat that swiveled so you could fly the ship horizontally with the controls swapping. Could have a lot of fun with those kinds of designs they would work so well for underground bases with such a small entrance.
Hello all Im still working on this but i wanted to post for feedback. I haven't got the hang of texturing yet but im working on it. Pretty well armed and with most survival needs. it doesn't have grow plots though. Ant advise is most welcome as im pretty new to the game. i really like all the entries so far, i definitely prefer small ships, i wish the sv's had more of the functionality of the cv's as i find them a nicer size to build with. ( a little bed for sv's would make me very happy ) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1615270935 Neuro
I decided to go with the side hangar as a separate build. This version has been fully upgraded, it's not like my previous submissions that were meant as a low-level upgrade-able ship. It's a pity there are no 2x4 hangar doors in the game, so I did a double layer of 2x2 shutter doors. CV-Osanshouo V2
I built a CV that fits this restriction over a year ago because I wanted to fit it into the base I was working on at the time. This challenge gives me a good excuse to give it a bit of an update. I have not updated the screenshots on the workshop yet but the new version can be downloaded here if anyone is interested. Spoiler: More Screenshots
Interesting look, and I can see you that have been updating it for 9.1 I have one recommendation, move the entry ramp 1 block up so it is flush with the hull when retracted. Current: Recommended change: The new ramp can be textured and colored, but you cannot rotate the texture on it <sigh>
Thanks for pointing that out, looks and works way better then how I had it. Haha yeah I went a bit over the top with the thrusters, it does have a switch for disabling most of the thrusters though to save some power.
GNAAAAA!!!! I find it rather disturbing that a 13x7 Hangar cant let a CV pass which is 6 blocks high - incl Roof turrets and Landing gear… So it is not only 1 but 2 !!!!! blocks missing for the height of a Hangardoor… You guys did awesome Jobs! Spoiler: My fail I *could* complete it, if i leave out the sentry of the top and getting rid of the flaps...
You could make turret nodes on the sides of the main body if you don't mind the double-bump effect on aerodynamics aesthetics. If you really mean sentry turret, it's easy to use the one which points straight out instead of rotating parallel to the surface, allowing it to function on the sides nicely. Full-sized turrets would be more awkward but probably still doable.
Thank you for the idea. Sadly I cant befriend with them (or fail to understand/imagine it properly). The only full sized turret that wouldnt destroy the challenge would fit at the rear… Though, that would give a nice top/bottom/sides protection... Goal achieved like mentioned… Think i'm gonna call her Classy Cassie, and i'm already tired of texturing…
