Basically finished the exterior of the FA-033 Millenium now. It's all textured and painted too, anime-style. Time to fill up the interior. Despite packing 6 XL thrusters and another 6 L thrusters, it takes a few seconds to get up to speed. It also needs 2 of those ridiculous high-output T2 Generators and over 30 T2 RCSs to achieve decent turning speed (not a fighter jet, more like a big yacht). It'll need even more/be slower once the interior is filled with floors, rooms, deco, cargo storage and hangars.
Banged around making an HV while keeping CPU, PU , SU, weight and balance in mind. Mining Slug (test bed) No clone chamber but everything else. 3 popup turrets on top. still a work in progress. Now to run over that card shark Xirax shottydude and get my pants back.
Pretty sure you already know this, but for a miner it really pays off to place the mining-turrets/lasers on each corner of the vehicle so to carve a wide enough tunnel for the HV to easily go in and out. I usually place one in each corner and the last 2 top middle and bottom middle. Albeit even with that setup i tend to "wiggle" my way in to create ample place to move around
I agree! I wish they still had the original piping texture in addition to the current pattern. I think the devs could do away with some of the Victorian wallpaper patterns and add more piping, conduit, and circuitry patterns. jmo.
Playing around with the aimanager av command and spawn in some carriers. You can have a nice little mini game with these enemy carriers.
Drills comfortably clear a path for the vessel with the turrets up. And Honestly if I need to mine a deposit in the ground the drone and t2 drill are better than a hv drill platform. Both for ease and motion sickness. Hopefully that will change. Currently I need some tunnels carved through mountains so this is reflected in the design. I will note for now, in my opinion, it is going to be nearly impossible to build a well rounded multi-role HV. You will be handily able to make a vessel that does One job well. With a little work 2 and decent defensive capabilities. There just isn't enough room in the (SU/CPU/PU) bottle-neck to do more.
After a break i try a new Game in 9.2 First Time a arid start on medium diffilculty...it is a lot of fun...no water at the Moment, but i found all the ores i need for the beginning. I also start a new HV and i play around with logistic, weight and volume...at the Moment i dont have a idea what i need...i have 1000 Input and 1000 Output storage...500 for the Harvester and 500 for ammo...what do you normally build in the beginning?
I've been working on a scenario with 4 moons. I wanted to try out those different types we have. I finally got into space to check em out. It does seem like I need to work on placement just a bit more.
Updated the cockpit area on the inside. Also you can now depart the closed cockpits without getting stuck, as the ramps above can be opened to free your player after standing up. I had not realised that the new 3 block head space rule was required to exit closed cockpits, so i was stuck in the structure after standing up the ramps allow me to bypass that restriction and allow the player to freely walk off the top of the cockpit, also you can keep the ramp shut and just hide in the spot there haha.
I've been making a small-mid sized CV since I haven't built anything for a long time. I ran into a weird issue with lighting, however. Q: Has anyone had an issue with natural light reflecting off blocks inside their ship/base? In addition, has anyone had issues with interior lights shining through the bottom of their ship and illuminating the ground below? I don't know if these are just bugs with the current build or perhaps something changed that I never noticed. It's pretty annoying. EDIT: It almost seems as if the HIGH shadow setting is no longer High. It used to completely block off light from going past walls, etc. but now everything passes through building blocks. Maybe there was a change to the Shadow settings.
With all those light setting abilities now I have many time the Problem the lights "shine" through several layers of Concrete. I have to shuffle around with the sliders and, if I am not satisfied, I check the box for Spotlight to reduce the area the light should be visible.
Well, I got my WSV Eclipse into the factory on HWS server last night, will be ready now, kind of excited, It is not aimed at being a superb combat ship, nonetheless I want to see how well it stands up to HWS poi with its 14 weapons. Oh yes I noticed there was a limit on HWS of 2 cockpits for sv, Eclipse has 3 so I had to remove one. Hopefully that is just an HWS limit and not the games default limit
Planning my return to EGS as soon as 9.3 gets implemented as my eyes, after treatment with antibiotics, getting better now. Having some weird plans for a pretty large Vehicle of which I am undecided if it will be a Mule of an HV or a Planet Bound CV like Carryalls. The Roman Republic still exists, the North American Landmass is a Colony of Rome named NOVO PROVINCES. Christ never died on the Cross (and was released) to die as Eremite in Eastern Anatolia...
Someone in my friends list built a replica of the eve online stratios ? I dont know this ship myself but figured you guys might be interested in looking at it and offering feedback, surely some old eve fans here, its size class 34 0.o I dont know if its any good and he did not put any screenies though I have encouraged him to try and do so If any of you have time to have a quick look in creative https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1631094434
I played EVE for many years (9 i think) before i got to sick to continue.. (EVE needs a lot of involvement and focus, which i no longer can give). But the Stratios always was one of my fav ships due to its many ways of fitting it.. i used to fit it for PVP and lured many a poor soul in (they often though it was a exploratory vessel) EVE also have many sexy ships in general, not a bad place to look for inspiration..
I just released this little utility. It is a standalone 360 degree spotlight mount as a hv, non mobile. The lights power up gradually after using the lever on the base Might be worth noting, I plan to use this idea on future ships for 360 spot coverage. splitting the 2 layers of spots between the underside and the roof. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1632986989
