I dusted off an old build today, the BA turret replacement HV. The idea was that you set it where a BA turret would normally go as a fast deploying defense. (It was also the HV I used when I tried to make a CV that dropped active HV's on unsuspecting targets.) It has been sitting, unpublished, gathering dust for a while. So I decided to revisit it. I canned the open cockpit in favor of an armored cockpit, and made a few other changes. As before, it's docking pads are in the rear, not on the bottom. So it will remain active when parked on a BA. Keep getting interrupted when i've tried to play for the last 3 days so I haven't made much progress on the shipyard until today. Filled the side with SV hangars and landing aprons, changed the outer shape of the hangars too and after a couple of near-misses in crane and arm designs i've settled for the below ones. I fear to use the new texture+paint tool for actual detailwork as it's completely inflexible for little details. Just noticed that two of the cranes are missing counterweights. Not that counterweights would actually do much in zero gravity. If not for the potential issues of structural integrity this thing could probably be placed on a planet fine. But since it won't be, i'll have to make some thrusters for the bottom of it at some point.
Made some more progress on updating the station. I decided to clean up the subway after its last renovation. I've also been giving the casino an overhaul. Spoiler Shots of the old casino. It was kind of gaudy and the layout of the gambling tables and 'slot machines' wasn't all that great. Shots of the new casino. A little more tasteful while still being that extravagant over the top affair that casinos often are. With the new color picker I was able to get a deeper gold color for the ceiling light deco. I was able to fix up the curving walls in the corner with something that doesn't look like trash.
Wow... I wonder if it's possible to do this on purpose in controlled manners...? Especially rad was the big rainbow of colors the Lightning was able to take!
I can add the multiple colors, but I can't increase the frequency of the strikes. One of my planets already has daily multi colored lightning storms that last a few minutes.
I decided to update my flock of Eagles to A10, making some minor appearance tweaks with the new thin/corner blockshapes, and rebuilding the cockpit interiors to make them LESS screen-accurate but MORE usable (as in, not exiting-chair-into-the-cockpit-walls usable).
