Looking for an opinion. Too much of a cheap shot? In the POI build they are textured to match. When they blow it depressurizes the base, and, if the player survives, it drops them into open space.
God I love this Plasma planet... It took me forever to find. Had some frustrating things happen - a bug that popped me to windows, closed the game, and then when I re-loaded, the ship I was in and all my SV/HV's and loot were gone. Had to hop into God mode quick because it was just naked me in space waving to the nearby asteroids. The journey to the Plasma planet was full of amazing occurrences, an example; before the bug hit I was warping around the rim ignoring a plethora of astonishing planets... like say, a cotton candy planet: (which is so very well done! It even has magma vents?!) , and when I left warp to emerge into an as-yet-unexplored system this greeted me: My space, how you've.... changed... Goddamnit, Ravien, you evil mastermind, you made your own goddamn Gas giants! You could spend hours/days just in this little system! Asteroid rings and clusters and 5 "moons." Good heavens! So, all in all, that was a neat journey and I look forward to trying to build something very awesome on the ole plasma planet tomorrow... once I work on this POI some more... ... but the plasma planet! Gah!
Sounds like quite the adventure! All credit for the gas giants has to go to @Needleship , he made the original ones!
After some final quality checks and tweaks I've just posted the new CVE-5 Albatross to the workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1786031400&searchtext=
Yeah. I haven't really made use of those new corridor pieces because it's all one texture. It'd be nice if all the emissive textures worked like this too. Then you could color the emissive part a different color from the rest.
Sooo I managed to finish my CV as per my link but it is ugly but functional. I can finally leave the Starter Planet. The plan was the elongate the nose and smooth her edges but I now figure that I will start from scratch once I am in space and have found a home to settle semi permanently. Starter planets get refreshed every few months so dont want to spend too much time here. Edit: Anyone know how to see what the "Seed" number is on a MP server?
Started overhauling my old ships, especially the ones I tend to use most after I spawned in the FA-00...uhh... I think it's 7 or 8, Envoy (Considering the FA line goes over 30, that's quite old) and discovered that I never quite finished it. Then I found a bunch of flaws, broken textures and mismatching blocks on it (because at the time there were less blocks to choose from), so I started on that first. The exterior's not that much different and this probably isn't the best view. Most of the work was on the underside and interior. It had no landing gear and had thin panels on the bottom which made it impossible to land even with a landing gear. Removing the panels from the bottom so it could sit flat caused more problems as now the interior floor was exposed to the ground. The Envoy isn't built for combat or mining or anything. It's a luxury sports vehicle mostly for exploration and it's fun to drive. This is the new interior. You could barely fit in the old one, but this one has two beds, a kitchen and all the usual goodies you'd need for a long-distance cruise on an alien planet. Pressurized of course, O2 station, armor locker, storage and even an ammo box even though it has no guns (There's slots for them on the outside though). This one was more important to update, which I did next. The FA-020 Bulldog. (Original on the right) A cheap, dedicated miner. The old one was packed with things it didn't need, lacked ore storage which it needed and the drills didn't quite get the job done with their placement. It also tended to drift and sink weirdly when loaded. The new one's in industrial yellow (not the default yellow colors, this is the one I use on my other industrial builds). Originally I gave it a retractable turret on top, but even when retracted it catches on the tunnel ceiling while mining. I also overhauled some interior features of the FA-028 Lockdown, (A miner, though it doesn't look it) to better balance carried mass and gave it some fresh texturing to make it look less-fresh. And finally, I did a complete refit of the FA-005 Hunter... again: For the 4th or 5th time. Extended the body, added more generators, RCS, overhauled the interior, added a shield generator, then took it out because it's too expensive to put in the ship; added panels in their place that can be removed and a shield generator added later when the materials are available (Bleh, erestrum, neodymium and zascosium). Not much more expensive than it used to be, only uses starter planet materials. The hunter is my go-to ship. There ain't a better ship in terms of cost and durability thanks to its fully-enclosed cockpit and cheap materials. Can take a fully armed zirax base head-on without dodging and come out... alive (not whole, not without a sathium upgrade to the front first; But alive and victorious!). The refit is the one in the middle, the original is the one on the left and the one on the right is the FA-008A Seer. The Hunter's big brother. He's up for a refit too when i'm done with the Hunter. The hunter isn't finished yet either, still some paintwork and texturing since when I first made it, we only had the old default colors and none of the new block shapes. The new refit has longer skids (no longer spiky either) , is higher off the ground, has larger ramps, a bigger doorway and now has more cargo capacity. The Seer is still a few meters longer with more power and cargo space and heavier armor, but is too expensive for earlygame. Here's the new interior. Still needs a bit of work. The shield generator goes up in the roof. One of the most annoying things about the old hunter is that the door and ramps are manually opened, but there wasn't enough space for a sensor in the right spot to open/close them automatically. Also the doorway wasn't wide enough, so i'd get fried hugging the warp core coming up the ramp.
Project Eden Start on Swamp Planet...real fun even for the experienced Player, found myself dropped right into the Zirax Zone. Took a while until I had settled myself and with the help of the wildlife the Zirax and me got fast friends I watched a strange "Investigative Maneuver" by local Patrol Vessel to a nearby Small Wreckage... After collecting enough stuff I searched...and found a neat spot for my Base.. ...and after moving in a enjoyed the Sun Rise
Was in the middle of writing the description for my new sv and lost power - here us the link minus a description (for now) Highlights - hardened steel construction, hardened steal layer isolating and protecting the core, shields, 4 passenger seats, 30k SU storage, lift boost to carry 700 tons above ship weight, balanced thrust makes a nimble fighter https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1786685976
Updated the Creative Studio for Alpha 10 ; build 2517 ---------------------------------------------- * added Texture & Color Tool to inventory * added/fixed WarpFuel * increased Fuel & O2 stacks * increased multi charge stacks
Stayed up later than I should have. Was enjoying my day of rest with some work rebuilding my Turkey CV, unlock level 10. From front to back: Original Turkey CV, Original Turkey C45, and the new Turkey. The new version is bigger and wider. I hope I did a good job of capturing the shape of the original. Turkey blueprint has been updated on the workshop. The thing is, the Turkey C45 was the upgraded version of the Turkey. Originally, I kept the unlock at 10 and just loaded on a full set of the atmospheric CV weapons. Well, this time I chose to also make a couple other small changes and let the unlock jump up to level 20 for the C45 variant. I even added rocket turrets and the radar deco at one of the weapon hard points. Had to modify the undercarriage to accommodate a repair bay, and included the tier 2 shield generator. Part of the reason for expanding the Turkey was to add empty space for upgrading to shields once I had the resources and unlocked the tech. So part of the reason I was up so late was that this involved capturing screen shots and updating two, not just one, BP on the workshop. I will finish the description at another time, but the C45 has been updated online as well. [edit] By the way, those are both rated for up to 4.0 g. They still can lift over 1.5 kilotons in 3.0 g. And their atmospheric tolerance is 3.0 kg/m^3 with shields off.
Me and my mate in our two-player game finally put a warp drive on our little SV. Jumped to the Sathium/Neo planet nearby. Built a non-warp capable tiny CV that could just carry my variation on a LadyBig. We thought that we needed Zasc and Erestrum for a CV warp drive and only figured out that we didn't after attempting to take our SV to the planet with Zasc and Erestrum that turned out to be out of range for an SV. We were "how are we going to get the zasc and erestrum then and have the range to get zasc and erestrum???" before realising we didn't need for the CV warp so then kicked ourselves for spending couple hours making the tiny CV when we needed a bigger one. Oh well, a live and learn day.
Heck no! XCaliber is holding a POI challenge this month, (his discord... https://discord.gg/jPqaZq4) I think the group would appreciate the build.
