I just posted "Zaganon" on the forums. It was only possible because of this guide. The ability to build on asteroids, have asteroid bases and POIs, and mine multiple resource types on one asteroid is pretty darn cool. It is available to anyone that wants to use it on their servers/scenarios or experiment on this concept at this link: https://empyriononline.com/threads/...-a-custom-playfeild-w-custom-asteroids.48510/ ZaganonPrime.png

I'll have to check this out!

Do you want the other ore freighters I made too?

That would be awesome. I’ll put them into the same group as the iron one so players can have some variety. I never was able to get the deposits to fit as snuggly as you did with the iron in my CV designs.

Here is the entire collection of T3 ore freighters for anyone to use or modify as desired.

    - Rados themed.
    - Each freighter hauls several thousand worth of a specific ore and is named and color coded based on the ore carried.
    - Armament of the freighter based on what type of ore its carrying.
    - Has a LOT of rear facing thrusters. Should take awhile to disable.
    - Some have drone spawners, if they are set up to spawn drones in the playfield.

    - The Pentaxid version isn't full, this is intended. :D
    - The difficulty has not been tested. You can adjust the turrets as needed.
    - There is also an empty version with empty ore holds that you can fill with whatever you want.
    - I don't think I put any alien loot containers, I'll leave that up to all of you to add as you see fit.
    - Blueprints were saved during alpha 8 and still contain the old cargo boxes. Not a huge deal but I just haven't had time to update them quite yet (I'll update this post once I do).

    - Known issue: the textures on the ore look funky when the freighter is in motion. A player might notice this if they blow open a hangar door and expose the ore before the freighter is disabled.

Ravien, does this still work with a10? I tried spawning the asteroids and they didn't have any resources on them.

Just tested them, they still work. Make sure you're spawning them in space. The ore texture is hidden on planets (but they'll still give ore if mined).
Let me know if you can get them to work.

Sorry, I figured that out then came back to check. I apologize for making you go through that. Thank you for the reply!

Basically, is it possible to have this (albeit smaller) spawn on a planet as a poi to kinda get around the respawn node issue. Or to make it part of a zyrax poi so it shares respawn timer with that. Would be a novel idea to take down the poi, mine the resource, then have it respawn.

Yup that should be possible. The ore texture will look the same as the surface texture of whatever biome it spawns in though so you'll need a way to let players know they can mine it out. :D

    Quick note:

In the current patch of A10.4 blocks destroyed on AI patrol ships in space with resources using this method retain their hitbox and are creating some anomalies. Will say “container” when pointed at with a multitool. It’s a bug effecting other stuff such as Promethium stones and already reported.

We’re using them on Transcendence. For sure gives players a surprise when they suddenly see an Erestrum or gold Freighter fly by lol.

This awesome, so glad I found this.

Going to use your freightors in my scenario if you don't mind. Thanks for sharing your hard work!

There are easier ways of doing this now. I'll try to get this guide updated.

You can now spawn asteroids in creative mode under the internal tab, and you can change a blueprint from an asteroid to a base with the:
prefabinfo 'Name of Blueprint' -convert BA
    command.

Thanks for the excellent guide . I have been looking for a way to make custom asteroids and this certainly pointed me in the right direction.
I have run into one issue that I am hoping you can provide some guidance on. I am attempting to create a very large asteroid that contains Copper, Zascosium and Gold all in one. I figured the easiest way to do that would be to spawn one of each of the standard asteroids and join them together. So I spawned one of each, saved one as a blueprint and used the console command to convert one to a base and spawned it again. When I try to copy and paste the other asteroids into that one, I removes parts of my main asteroid. It looks like the copy/paste function also copies empty space, so when I paste the asteroid I copied onto the the target, It looks ok in the green preview mode and I can see where it will overlap and merge and it looks great, but as soon as I hit paste the second time, It deletes any of the target asteroid that was inside the green paste box, Which leaves large flat edges and gaps where the 2 parts would merge nicely.
Is there an alternative way to copy/paste where it won't paste empty space into terrain blocks and remove them? As I am trying to create a massive asteroid, I want to avoid doing a block-by-block copy and paste.
I have tried many of the buttons that are near the copy/paste buttons, but none of them paste without pasting empty space.
Could it be because I am using standard asteroids? I saw in this post that you mentioned the process was different for them and that a note was added in the original guide, but I followed that and am having the issue.
And once again, thank you for the excellent guide.

Sadly copy and paste does also copy empty space. What I do is just copy half the asteroid, join them together so it looks like some weird frankenstein of an asteroid, then I found out the edges and corners using drills to smooth it out.
