Today I spent some time updating my Comet miner! I think it's done. Just need to update the workshop and post some new stats but that's for tomorrow. Pretty happy with this little ship. It's been awhile since I made a blueprint for players to actually use instead of a blueprint for them to raid.
Had a fun time delivering Meds in my scenario. It involved going from the capitol to a smaller town, then to the space station to transfer ship and finally a good trek way out of the solar system! Best thing is I got to use all vehicle types...
Where did all of these come from? Finished the updates to my old Comet Mining Shuttle and created quite a few variations so there's a version to fit everybody from a cheap carbon hull to armored and shielded versions. I first designed this shuttle back in Alpha 7 because I needed a way to mine cobalt, sathium, and neodymium without an EVA boost. Used it with all my playthroughs of alpha 7 and 8 while I further refined it. Now it's time to refit it for the mass/volume system! Unfortunately it has less fuel and O2 capacity and burns through fuel faster due to the cargo extensions compared to the old shuttle, but still has around 8 hours of idle fuel. Meant as an early game mining and exploration SV to mine resources using your drone in harsh environments to build your first CV. Not meant to take on POIs or difficult enemies, but can take out stray drones with its 6 gatling guns. 16,554 volume between its 4 cargo bays. (can be combined together) Easily upgradable and modifiable. All versions have spot for constructors, warp, shields, and upgrading thrusters. Capable of hauling a full load of sathium or neodymium plus fuel and supplies in up to 1.3G with the standard level 7 version. Cargo thrusters for extra power when hauling heavy loads. Optional and customizable auto thruster control to disable RCS and some/all thrusters when landed to save power, and re-enable them on takeoff. Some pictures of the interior: I put in some signs to try to explain some things. And the control panel. Hopefully I can get these on the workshop this weekend! I'm planning on doing a survival playthrough of my scenario with my brother once alpha 10.5 goes live, so I'm trying to get us some good blueprints together to use in our survival game. Also going to be working on my scenario update while 10.5 is in experimental to really get it polished up and ready to go as soon as the game update comes out. Thanks to @Germanicus for inspiring me to update this ship!
I really loved your 'Comet concept' and it was/is my first ship for leaving starter planets and exploring star system on SV routes on couple of MP servers I played in Alpha 9 & 10 I did some serious rework inside for better range & power, and to have good payload, maneuverability, with warp and shield - but it is still made from original basic steel blocks Two 3-block columns next to the doors are free so I can place 2-4 extra jets for high/extreme gravity planets, with full cargo (like 5-6G)! Now I'm waiting for some nice 'spaceship hatch' 3D models for SVs in game to replace shutters. Long live @ravien_ff SPACE VAN!!!
@ravien_ff did you test your COMET Versions about flight behavior with full loaded Fuel and Pentaxid-Tanks? That is an additional 20tons of weight even without filled cargo Boxes.
Yes I did! Full fuel o2 and pentaxid tanks with a full load of random extra supplies in the secondary cargo and full ammo in ammo controllers.
Spent the day building a base inside of a mountain... It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
I notice even the newer games like Dual Universe and others that are coming out still don't look as nice as Empyrion does at certain points of the game. You can take some amazing screen shots in this game.
Armored and shielded version fully loaded with all secondary cargo filled to max with fuel/supplies and 12398 primary cargo filled with over 6000 of the heaviest ore (promethium):
Finished, Tested, Tweaked, Re-finished, Retested, Tweaked some more... and finally done. The new Snow Planet Rados Missile Silo POI is finally finished. Here's what you can do in the base: Go be a Deus Ex-style ninja. Get baked in a hot room. Hijack the control room and launch an ICBM. Fight a tank with a pistol. And here's what a failed POI test looks like: Yes, I tested on the arid planet.
Haha They don't look so big until you get up close . It's the only animal I've seen so far on this planet.
havent been on here in a while, hows everyone been? i for one keep building and my next project "was" going to be a star trek ship but found out EGSTools is no longer working and now have to think of a different project :/
