All these talkings on my way to the meeting on deck E... Just arriving at this spooky place... Heading down to deck E... Just so they tell me, I should fix the solar panels... Dang, they are all the way up! Wait a minute... I thought - that - was the 'top'...
I stayed up way too late last night and added a dynamic HUD to my Cormorant vessel. It's a fully functional holographic display which reports the online and offline states of engine, shield, and weapon systems, working actively in combination with the physicalized controls on my ship's bridge.
I was wondering what you were going with the LCDs. Turns out; all sorts o' awesome. You should make a multi-story hangar with a control center with these sorts of LCDs that let you know which bays are full and which just launched via signals sent by hangar doors to LCDs.
You're giving me all sorts of bad... er, good ideas Fractalite! I have been playing around with hybrid CV/BA and SV/CV elevator systems of late, so a multilevel hangar with status reporting may just be a fun experiment...
Nice. I have a workshop save in creative that I keep all of my builds in. As for what I did today... Today I learned a valuable lesson. If you have a CV parked on a BA the two can (and will) shoot each other when trying to take out a troop transport.
Sometimes what I end up doing is shaping a section, making it a selection, then doing offsets by 1-2. This allows for the same angle but at different depths and some space in between for 'stuff' to break up the geometry. As for the bulkiness problem, yeah. It's an issue for me because I'm a big fan of complicated greeble alongside high fidelity hullwork. The more offsets and layering, the bulkier it gets, and that ends up messing with the scaling unless other bits are changed. I've got a big SV side project and I designed some curvy rounded-out thruster nacelles using some of the new shapes. And while it looks pretty nifty, it's going to be a headache to reproduce and scale other elements of the ship in order to keep the design relatively consistent. Inevitably the ship is going into my ever-expanding pile of gargantuan monstrosities that are totally impractical. It's a good thing I enjoy the design process more than the end result (most of the time).
Did a bit of interior and exterior re-designing of the SV I've built. Was all together a bit too cramped to be happy with it. The inside rear with the re-designed Warp Drive To get inside space I re-designed the bulges for the side trust and changed the number as well the type of truster from S to M Finally the Pilot-view was blocked by Steel in the upper 3rd of the FoV so I replaced the Blocks by Windows Textured a bit the area of the Rear Truster too...
Would it be to much asked to get pics or maybe some form of access to these? Loved your style you did with the HV. Edit:A RG guys dream! @Germanicus really cool details you have got there!
Sorry to intrude but been away a few months and would appreciate a sanity check... Posted the question in General; "Is adding Variable Power Consumption for Thrusters on the list?" https://empyriononline.com/threads/...-consumption-for-thrusters-on-the-list.72290/ Basically wondering if CV thrusters firing at 100% while just hovering has been discussed, and whether it's made it onto the ToDo list? Details are in the linked post but basically I built a starter CV that could haul a couple kilotons of cargo but instead of using roughly 300PU when empty & hovering in ~1g it's drawing 5300PU (5.3kPU). If I add the 2 kilotons of cargo it draws the same as when empty. I could turn off one of the Medium lift thrusters to halve the power draw, but that still leaves it drawing 8 times more juice than it needs to hover when empty. This is really a big deal to me & why I stopped playing back in March. So I'm praying this crucial bit (at least imo for Mass&Vol) will get some love soon...
Here's a section that I'm currently working on. It's split up into different parts which makes scaling adjustments a little less tedious. This is still very much a WIP. I love those new triangle corner pieces (at least I think they're new-ish). You can make some interesting angles with it. That being said, just this section which isn't even remotely finished on the back and undersides is about 30k triangles. It's going to be too large to even fit through any of the current hangar doors. Basically it's going to be another massive impractical set piece, I guess. That is a gorgeous collection - thanks for sharing.
I believe the Warp Drive has now reached a point of a satisfying look. As always I can't do it the way I want, otherwise I would have to built the ship new...
I am really liking the new projector block in Experimental. I redid my HUD and switch displays using projectors today and was stoked to be able to get rid of the old overhanging LCDs on the Cormorant's bridge. Much, much cleaner now. The projectors also don't have the alpha-fighting issues that the LCDs did when projecting from them, and are much brighter and better legible.
Today I worked on updating my scenario for the newest experimental version. It's so nice being able to get rid of the clouds on some moons: Also saw this epic and somewhat glitchy view I can't wait for them to improve the surface views like they did for the space views! I have no idea when or even if that is in their plans, but can you imagine views like this with the space planet visuals? Now it's time for me to design some blueprints for a survival play through of my scenario with my brother and some friends.
And does Moons now show Atmospheric effects even if they don't have an Atmosphere or has this been taken into account too?
Reworked a couple more POIs for the snow planets today. Rados Supply Station and Rados Oxygen Depot Snowy Oxygen Depot (Front) Snowy Oxygen Depot (Back) POI interior is classified. Snowy Supply Depot (Front) Snowy Supply Depot (Back) I also finished two different Com Centers (Normal + Advanced) and i'm now working on the Fuel Depot. I think the only zirax POIs to convert to cold weather editions are... Rados Base, Adv Base and Adv Supply Station? And then... it's onto Polaris snow ones, and then back to Rados POIs for the desert planet.
