I've just noticed (since A10.5) that the resolution on many items has decreased, becoming blurred and/or pixelated. At first, I thought it was just the holographic screens, but I find the control panels on some consoles, medical & tech equipment are also blurred. The wonderful detail labelling on greeble, tanks and thrusters are obscured. Oddly enough, while pervasive, it's not universal. Some engine markings are still quite clear as are cockpit panels. Block textures & symbols, LCDs and consoles with crew seem all right.

    I have a GTX 1060 w/6Gb RAM. My resolution is 1920x1080.

    below are samples:

You are on a map with tons of spawned vessels....Does the same happens on a map with just a couple of them?

  3. What is your total system RAM? If less than 10GB that's the issue. In 10.5 the devs are now forcing half resolution if you have less than 10GB total system RAM.
I don't agree with it, but it's not my call. It should be up to the player to decide, IMO.

"- Forcing now half texture resolution if the system has less than 10 GB of main memory (before 8 GB)"

on the nose! My system has 8Gb RAM. (I can't find an appropriate imogee)
Now I have to decide to up the RAM or go all out on a new computer. This would be the third upgrafe for my current system.

    Thanks for the info.

I just added 8 gb to my system ram (now at 16) and it really makes a difference. Everything is more fluid, less hiccups, and even the game starts faster (laptop).

You're right! I just upgraded from 8 to 16Gb. Big difference! Hopefully, this will hold me into 2020. A rebuild may be in my future?

Probably find that some models have been optimized, for performance reasons, lower texture detail can help that, Empyrion has a vast range of textures just on the texture gun, so the base models those textures go on, if there to highly detailed, Empyrion is a 2k game remember, if Empyrion was a 4k game, sheesh you would need some serious graphical power just to start it.

The models will go through stages, some will get better some fuzzier, until they settle somewhere in the middle depending on how many features the game ends up with and how laggy they all are if at all.

The constructors have all had a few models tossed at them, we started with tiny constructors in this game.

PC spec can always help, to a point.
Once you pass that point, no increase ,no matter how awesome powerful, will make any real difference on the resolution or textures.

Most 4GB graphic cards Ive tested run this game fine at high res, 2k.

Ive only had a few that have had such weak GPU chips that the 4GB was wasted.
Usually a 4GB card will do what you need in Empyrion.
Empyrion also loves SSD drives over mechanical drives, this is really vital in Empyrion if you like smooth transitions between playfields.
Empyrion prefers 16GB or more of system RAM, will run on 8 just not prerdy like !
Empyrion also enjoys hyperthreaded 4 to 8 core CPUs with a clock speed of 3ghtz or faster, Empyrion does not like dual core chips at all, will run on them, just with an attitude.
    A bad attitude !
Empyrion was designed and built around Direct-x 9c.
This could be a cause to why some much newer , designed on direct-x 12, systems dont perform as well as highly specc'ed 9c PCs, even though there specs are in some cases over double the power. [ threadrippers ]

Anyway, fascination topic in to why they do things the way they do, or why things are how they are, I guess !

Good to know about DirectX 9c.

I have the quad-core CPU running @3.2 ghz and my previous upgrade was the above mentioned 6Gb graphics card and 500Gb SSD along with a 820w PS. Now, with 16Gb system RAM, everything looks great....for now.:)

I'll keep that DirectX 9 in mind when additional upgrades are called for.

Your mini map in upper right hand corner showed you had lots of ships in your pictures :)

Oh...totally missed that! About the only thing it's good for.
That's one mystery solved! Now, if I could only find out what happened ti the modular wing "mounts"?

    Thanks for the clarification.:)

  15. You mean the pylons? They were removed from the game back at 9.0 because of bugs with them. They couldn't be picked back up after placing them down. Like, they were forever a part of your ship after placing them. Even creative mode or copy and select tool couldn't remove them after placement.

The devs removed them "temporarily" and they were never added back. Still no ETA on if/when they will return.

It's not a high priority for them right now.
In my opinion, the modular wing blocks are mostly useless without the pylon blocks though. I would rather see these return sooner than later.

I may mean "pylon", but when I point to "it", I read "mount". Whatever they're called, they should be brought back.
