Most of this one has to be credited to the devs. I used the barren metal planet as a base and just adjusting a few things. It does look like a very different planet though!

I believe "plastic" has gone the way of the cassette tape. I believe "carbon" is the new "plastic". But yes, a cheap, warp-capable SV has a place.

For those playing on the Official Server (US), these kinds of ships can be downright essential for getting off the Starter planet, before the 7th day wipe.

On other servers, they can make for great targets for PvP players, especially those who prefer to come at anything with a 32-turret brick ship. They love these kinds of one-shot targets.

I am curios to know though - how did you create a cheap warp vessel "before we had plastic blocks, O2 pressurized cabins & warp-capable SV's"? Or was this a a CV converted to SV? Or is this one of those "uphill, both ways, in the snow" parables?

    ---

As for me... last night was. Yeah, that's about the sum of it. It was. I did manage to put together a pretty decent HV and raided an Alien Helix before I was simply too tired to push on any further. Of course, it warrants mentioning that I was doing my building by drone, with someone else hanging around, watching me build and baiting local wildlife to my base (I was standing inside the door, taking out the unwanted visitors with an Epic shotgun, while operating my drone, so that was rather amusing. Got to see the new Otyugh model - very nice. Kind of miss the old version, but I'll get use to the new, toothier one soon enough.

    Pictures soon.

    That... is... gorgeous... :D

If only it was possible to color the glowy part of the Lights & Elevator Devices as well... IMHO Glowy White on Glowy Red clashes rather fiercely hard... >_<

*Reads this, & starts imagining the potential of the mighty 24th Century Tech known as... "Carbon Trash Bags"!* :p

    Both are CV's, cheap CV's.
As stated, the original "Jumping Jack" was created before we had warp-capable SV's.
So part of the question is, now that we do have warp-capable CV's do they still serve a purpose?

They do.. as noted, depending on the scenario, they can be a vital first step off a starter planet, when time is pressing.

There are quite a few uses for them actually, or they wouldn't have added warp drives for SV's in the first place.

I put Plastic Pete in the Workshop.

It's a LVL 7 CPU tier 1 build that only uses components you can craft in a large constructor.
This means no warp drive / tank, but it has space reserved for it.

I worked all weekend, and didn't really have time to get on much during the past few days....
But I did get an old (IRL) friend on Saturday night, after a quick update, and we had a nice little experience while flying around, and exploring the few local planets in our vicinity.

We ended up landing on a massive (lvl 5) planet, and had ran out of fuel while scavenging..... mainly due to poor planning and the impromptu idea to explore/show him around in my Galactic Grebe Mk iii.
So our mission soon became "find resources", and that was not as easy as said than done.
He and I jumped on some bikes, and explored, had to fend off spiders and bug alike.... where eventually, my bike was blown up "by accident" by said friend.... so then we had to trek uphill on foot, with then encountering more spiders..... and then.... yes, you guessed it..... more spiders.
Eventually we found some promethium and got back in working order... but by then, I had to log off, as I had work in the morning.
A good bit of fun having to rough it for a bit, and just do the basics without the safety of a friendly or faction base around.
I look forward to more mini adventures with him, and others.

As always, when texturing a Vessel, the concentration goes to hell pretty fast:rolleyes:. So, after working on my CV for 4 Hours now, I need a break...again;)

Good times... I tend to create my own little adventures... take an empty CV to a new planet, cruise until I run out of fuel and fall from the sky, and start off building a little base to make fuel and go from there. I don't always take the CV in from orbit - often I'll go to ground in a small SV. Been tinkering with some designs, might start doing this in an HV.

Today I started releasing the USSF Expeditionary Fleet, to explore the unknown vastness of space and take all the gold and stuff.

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1969314725

Only 6 vessels were in a final enough state for me, but they're the 6 that have seen some major playtesting. Now to buckle down and start the long finalization of the mothership to carry them all, and major tweaks to my tanks that don't have anywhere near enough yaw, and maybe the beginnings of a starter CV smuggler ship that's nagging at the back of my brain, or a USSF battle fleet specifically designed for space domination... or more Project Eden. I guess Red Dead Redemption 2 is just gonna have to wait.

another boring day so i decidet finaly to start with the interrior of my Imperial 2 Class ok i know this will never work with cpu cause allone to bring the empty hull with the main hangar to warp capable speed needs 8.900.000 CPU no shields or warp only hull , engines , and generator's / tanks .

I used one of the prefabs as a size comparison

Today I worked a little more on the Ocean planet. The sea life will be tied in with missions.

Finally able to work on the Crusader again since a bug has prevented me from doing any of the texture and color work for the last few days.
Since the Crusader was built using the same design as the Titan it will double as both a Forge vessel and a UCH one. It's about time the UCH got a dedicated frigate.
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-16_00-18-45.png
Forge desert colors go on the first one, followed by a second version in UCH blues and light gray.
Currently only the lower deck interior is finished-ish. The exterior only needs some decals added, which goes on last since the exterior is the most visually important part of most ships.

I am slowly reaching the point of finish texturing the interior. What now happens is smaller changes inside such as too bright color, large empty walls and so on. Started with smaller details on the exterior of the CV too.

Main entrance Ramp and lower corridor - Sensors in Place and working

Finished the FA-059 Crusader today and it's UCH variant (018).
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-17_00-15-33.png
It's got the same texturing and coloring as the MS Titan now. With the same amount of turrets on the bottom as the top. No blindspots.
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-17_00-16-54.png
    Rear.
Like the Titan the Crusader has a set of Heatsink Radiators located adjacent to the warp drive to release heat accumulated in the ship in space. Though the Titan's are located near the front, behind it's warp drive.
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-17_00-17-26.png
    Hangar
The crusader's hangar is slightly longer than the Titan's, though with a lower ceiling. It too has a control room above the deck looking down on the hangar.
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-17_00-17-45.png
    Lower Deck main hallway.
Cargo bay on the left, hangar straight ahead at the end, door ahead on the right goes to the personel bay that comes out on the underside of the ship. Right side corridor has living quarters for the relatively small crew and the gravity generator. To the rear is the central elevator, fuel storage and engineering which houses the ship's 4 generators and warp drive.
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-17_00-18-13.png
    Upper Deck.
Mess hall, captain's quarters/office, toilets, showers, airlocks. To the rear is the shield generator, changing rooms and medbay.
    16 Desertdawn_2020-01-17_00-19-39.png
    Top deck.
The bridge is smaller than the Titan's and backs onto the ship's radar and com room.
