@Vermillion I have a question about the Blocks in Front of the Artillery and Plasma(?)-Turrets of your new Vessel: Is this issue with "blocking the Guns from firing" gone now? I can remember that I, not long ago, pointed this out to another master Designer with one of his builds and he confirmed this still existing issue. (You' ll get the infamous message "..missing Ammo..." when it can't fire.)
Whoa, "..missing ammo...", that's what causes that?! Other than missing ammo? I'm annoyed that I didn't realize that.
I haven't seen that bug since like... A9. Guns don't seem to be obstructed and the missing ammo message won't occur even if you stick a solid wall in front of a turret afaik.
Ok, let's hope its gone now. Even if I seem to see it frequently in Videos made by a certain "traitor" named @spanj who's recently playing SE! Btw., A9 it was, while A10 was in Experimental Here is a link to the Posting -> https://empyriononline.com/threads/what-did-you-do-in-empyrion-today.2826/page-873#post-310891
Continued the battle against the Official US Server's indigestion. Nearly lost my backpack in a mishap, then discovered a trap door I'd forgotten because I'd not been in one of these abandoned structures in a long while, and landed right on top of my pack. Managed to gather enough stuff to feed the factory and began baking a nice base for myself. While I waited, I decided to scout the planet, and to do that, I'd need a scout craft, so I made.. Nice, compact, tri-jet. T1, mostly carbon. Flies great, fast, and economical. I was actually impressed. No other thrusters, so it flies like an aircraft, but it does it quite well, and handling is very responsive. Really makes me wish for a bomb bay.
While I have no stunning creations to share, like those above me, I did discover that bricks can glide with the aerodynamics changes lol. I popped into space from the starter world and set to work restoring (partially) one of the CV wrecks in orbit. I forgot that I'd already robbed the component parts of things like Thrusters and RCS's from any other wrecks I'd found. This left me in a situation where my salvaged CV had a grand total of three of the small thrusters. That's it. I move one of these thrusters to be forward facing, enabling me to move the vessel and stop if needed. With this configuration I finished off scavenging bits from the other CV's in orbit...from which I'd already removed the thrusters of course. Being far too lazy to return to the planet in my SV and come back with more thrusters - in part due to the epic speed penalty that would be applied to my SV - I thought I'd just go for it. Aiming the CV at roughly where I thought my base was (actually, total guess, I'd not been paying attention) I thrust forwards at a mind-boggling 27 metres per second, and turn off auto-brake. Remember, I have forward (2x Small Thrusters) and reverse (1x Small Thruster) thrust only. Entering the atmosphere - after a couple of bounces, physics is weird lol - I see that I'm about 6 kilometres from my base. Not too bad, but I'm falling rapidly...with no downward-facing thrust of course. I then wonder, "Will this thing glide? Surely not!" So, I enable cruise control and slowly angle the nose up still falling rapidly. To my amazement, yes it does, this thing can glide! I manage to hold a fairly steady 300 or so metres as I slowly make it back towards my base. As I approach my destination, I reduce thrust a little, then a little more, before I hit some sort of threshold that causes the CV to drop rapidly. Regaining some speed to hold a steady altitude, I finish my approach before reducing speed and touching down right in front of my base. Nice. Not really played in a while, but this had been my goal from before Christmas. Goal achieved. It does amaze me though how well this brick of a CV glided so gracefully with no lift surfaces, not much speed and a lot of weight. Now to continue my restoration... (Sorry, no screenshots of the CV, but it's just one of the stock wrecked ones from orbit, with a few holes plugged and a pair of generators added) Scoob.
Ok in the last 2 days i was a little bit more producktive first i finished the interrior of my Imperial II Star Destroyer dont ask for the size class first i forgott totally the side supply hangars , the VIP front hangar , Crafting Area Engineering Command Center Main Bridge (in the whoole tower are arround 4 Bridges ) and the basic design of the floor there are manny more nice spaces but im to lazy to upload all those screenshots , after that i build a little bit smaler stuff a Raider Corvette SC 3 (Left) , a Vigil Class Corvette SC 5 (Middle) , and a Kontos Star Frigatte DC 6 (Right) Hangar of the Raider , hangar of the Vigil and the hangar of the Kontos At least those 2 days was very productive so i thought it was time for a little parade thats all for now so have a nice weekend
Getting a bit envious while looking at this Imperial Fleet.... That said.... more pics of my "Bucket of Bolts"...CV-Procurator
Now that looks like the sort of thing that should be cruising the late game skies of Empyrion, rather than that hilariously fragile patrol CV. Would love to buzz around it with my gunship! I myself have just completed the other Polaris mission, and am wrapping up operations in Empyrion for now; I feel I've experienced the game as it stands at this moment, and it's time to haunt some other virtual world. I have a whole novel's worth of thoughts tumbling around on what immediate improvements I'd like to see and where Empyrion could go in the long term, but I've not the creative energy to stack that many words on top of each other right now.
If you go back through this thread and find all the things I've, well, tonight I've done them all again. Ready for some more/new content to devour.
Ok. My CV PROCURATOR has left the Dry-Dock and is now on his Space-Trials. First Stop was the Dead Planet to pick up all the left back Ammo Caches. It seems that I do not have to worry about the amount of Lift-Off Power as it seems to be "adequate" A few Pic's after finishing the Texturing of the Hull
The Lower Deck Entrance Just a reminder for myself I also build two parallel Maintenance Tunnels to the Bow Section
Today I spun round and round a twig tree in an HV, perpendicular to the ground. I had taken the saw off the front to see if she would move a bit better. She didn't. I then jumped out of the HV in an acid rain storm to destroy said twig tree, because for the first time in the week I've been playing in the swamp, I saw the patrol vessel coming for me. Bloody hell.
"Traitor"!! Ouch @Germanicus Don't worry, with the kind of relationship i have with EGS, I'm sure i'll be saying 'Aw, how can I stay mad at you? come here', in no time at all
Took my current attempt at a t2 battle tank up against a shielded drone base with other poi's within support range. She handled better than i expected, lost all but one rocket turret and the minigun turret(which didnt seem to do much, gonna reposition that). No thruster loss, fuel loss, or ammo loss. Got stuck on trees, rocks, pebbles, and took fire from some of the other poi's, but still brought down the shield and all the enemy turrets. Not sure about her looks though, even with texturing she's gonna be a bit weird. That open spot on the roof is for access to the full cockpit, and will double as a sniper roost. I'm thinking I may need to add a new strategy of sniping all the trees and rocks into my hv assault tactics. Maybe we could get a checkbox for that on the turrets?
The other day I beat a guy in a card game. The rat couldn't even pay! To cover the game the guy gave me title to his ESCOBAR Designed by @CrazyZ Nice I thought. I'm a miner and scavenger. Not much use for a luxury ship. But thought why not. This is what showed up when it was delivered. One look told this thing has had some work done to it. Let's just hope it will lift off. So thought to have a quick look inside. Oh that strip has got to GO! Walked up the ramp and knew I was in trouble. Well at least it's a good place to park my drill rig and hauler I will have to find out what else a waits me as I dig deeper into it's bowel's It just might make a good mining ship with a bit of work.
