Yeah, I didn't do anything today because of you guys. I went digging through the configs with new ideas instead. Hopefully i'll have an update for RG by the end of the week. Bugs get fixed and gatling guns get more dakka.
Today I... quit. Content/update lull, waiting for the next update, so don't worry, I'll be back. Picked up something else to play with in the meantime, and it's shaping up to be quite decent. Good luck all, I'll be seeing you!
Personally I think the Old Builds are obsolete & best flat out replaced. Other people's Mileage may vary. Can also totally picture them usin it to do malevolent kinds of Surgeries... like placing Trackers attached to places that'd make it DAMN hard to have the Medical Knowledge, Skill, & Tools, to remove without very bad or fatal consequences for the victim... I hope this is a Hiatus, not a Goodbye...
<snif> I think you are right, not many people have liked the ones I rebuilt in the past. I will file that in the 'bad idea" folder and move on.
It is a sabbatical. I've a few games I tend to rotate through, and just picked up a new one I'm rather liking, so this is my way of passing time waiting on the next update without doing all the things I've already done more times than I want to count. Empyrion is great, and scratches a particular itch for me. But once scratched, there's no point in continuing, because it only makes things sore. So rather than burn out, I just change paces and do something else for a while.
My large base is slowly coming together... Fabrication, food, medical, and other civie areas getting there along with the huge internal hangar and destroyer CV sized top landing pad (could take two of my Magellan CVs side by side), but not much in the way of walls and final shape yet.
Curiosity: Has SE stopped setting people's Computers on fire? When I get my New Rig done one of these days, i've pondered the notion of using SE as a major Rig Stress Test, but I don't wanna get my New Rig killed via SE...
SE is very CPU intensive. The big thing I tend to get fatigued by when playing is that nearly every game descend into a lag fest before the point at which you feel you have built your little collection of bases and ships. Also the vanilla game quick gets very boring for me once the novelty has worn off, so IMHO it is only really fun to play ongoing with a sizable bunch of mods. As a stress test, would say that it just isn't consistent enough. One day I can build my huge space station and all is fine, the next it will completely kill the game (its a big station for SE) and make it unplayable. While this does not have anything like the physics, it is kind of refreshing to be able to have a load of bases and ships in one place and maybe notice an FPS drop rather than a complete collapse into an unplayable lag fest (even in SP). I wish someone could take the best of both and combine them
Sweet, many thanks for the response. Guess even my New Rig's Liquid Cooled 3.7 Ghz 8-Core won't cut it then & no point in even trying it... Empyrion >>>> SE
^ You also really need a 32G ram machine. 16 just doesn't cut it once you have torn up a few planets/moons.
New Rig has 32 now & intended to have 64 by the end... but sadly CPU will still Bottleneck, so no point. (Got 64 to start with but I got unlucky & one of the RAM Sticks turned out to be DOA... awaiting chance to get Replacement Stick.) Also, apologies for the Topic Derailing... latest going ons in Empyrion for me... finishing up a Secret Stuff toting Build to Submit to the Devs, then will likely postpone on further building till New Rig is running Empyrion instead.
I can probably list more thing in SE that I much prefer over Empyrion than I can the other way around. The problem with SE is its flaws are utter show stoppers and/or really frustrating. The flaws in this are not utterly game breaking and they tend to be wistful things that you miss instead in many cases. It would maybe make a interesting discussion for another thread, but I suspect the devs here are actively avoiding pinching any good bits or even learning from it for fear of legal issues perhaps, or maybe just not-invented-here syndrome which I cynically suspect is more likely.
You are not the only one who "postpone" Building stuff...Just take a look at who is playing something else in the meantime? Be it because of the EGS Issues or because of lost Momentum.... Also some Renowned Builders put even negative Feedback in some Forums.... I for my part take relaxed Holidays in the Galaxy of Star Wars - The Old Republic...
A lone Zirax guards his camp while he waits for rescue: Strange growths on the central spire of the planet:
I like the idea, not for practice use in game, more like a museum where you can see the evolution of the game. Come on you find a planet (in admin mode) where you can see all the ships in the different alpha stages.
Finished the Talon Ziggurat POI today since I finished my other things for the day. Tomorrow... I might start on more ships.
Amen... especially the part where SE will never forgive you for not having a Liquid Hydrogen cooled 10.0 Ghz 20 Core Quantum CPU... -_- (Seriously... wtf... even Team Scorpion from the show "Scorpion" isn't that rich...)
